State Motion to recover Investigative Costs

They would only have a legitimate claim for expenses incurred on the charges she was convicted of. Those would be the 4 lieing charges, and the period would be for expenses occurred directly as a result of those lies from the period they were made until the were shown to be untrue. My understanding is that it was established that they lies she was convicted of were shown to be false relatively quickly, so those are the only expenditures she should be held liable for. If they subsequently incurred expenses investigating stuff she wasn't telling them, and she was aquitted on those charges, she shouldn't be held responsible for those expenses.

They can claim for everything but if the court is doing it's job properly the award would be narrowed down to a very small part of that.

Yes, but they have a statement from her and the LE and State incurred expenses investigating the things she did tell them.

LDB IS only going for the investigative $$$'s spent july 15-december 11/2008. b/c that is the time they wasted $$'s looking for her until she was found, in the swamp.

..i'm quite sure they "established within hours of meeting kc anthony" that what she was saying was a pack of lies------they still had to look for caylee until it was conclusive (dec.11th) that she was in fact dead.

..the final tally------dealing with that time frame only--------is almost 1/2 million.....the bulk of that being OCSO.

OCSO says the investigation into Caylee Anthony's disappearance cost $293,123.77.

Otherwise, the reimbursement for cost of investigation would certainly be larger," he wrote.

Zambouros said the price tag only includes investigative costs through the day Caylee's remains were found off of Suburban Drive.

..judgeP has allotted 2 hours on august 25th for this hearing,LDB has a lot of invoices to produce!

If they had allready established that she was lieing within a few hours or few days, then anything subsequent to that would not be covered. Are you suggesting that they were investigating based on information that they KNEW was false? If they allready knew her statements (the ones she was convicted of giving) were false then they obviously would not have done any further investigation using those claims.

They are attempting to claim for costs relating to information she didn't provide, and since she wasn't convicted for that part of the investigation, I don't see how that claim can be valid.

I don't see Perry doing the right thing here. He hasn't been "present" since before the trial imo. Too bad he was re elected as chief judge. The people deserve someone aggressive and who gets things done.

Well, if the taxpayers have anything to say about the next election, he WON'T be voted in unless he orders some restitution for the hundreds of thousands of dollars this one lying, murderer cost the state of Florida !! (and is STILL costing them, I might add) ... I totally agree that Judge Perry should have been more aggressive, he should have made Baez do his homework and not tutored him through the trial and he should have been less concerned about appeal and more concerned about justice NOW ...
JMO ... I'm glad Judge Perry took over the case, but expected him to be more firm with the defense team's antics ...

..i'm not suggesting that at all.

..as LDB stated, EVERY conviction has costs associated to it ( judgeP put kc's at approx. $4600.00) she is going only for the additional costs on what it cost LE due to her 4 lies. (that she was convicted of).

..whether or not they "knew" or strongly believed them to be lies-----they still were investigating a "missing child", and HAD to keep looking for her until they had exhausted all leads OR found her. which they did.

..had kc told them right off that she had drowned , as she now says she knew all along since june 16, 2008, the investigation would have clearly been different.

kc's fine/fees for lyingX4 conviction:

Case Fine--$4000.00 CCA--$200.00 Court Costs---$5.00 CCF--$50.00 LGCJTF--$225.00 TEENCT--$3.00 CRMESTPPR--$20.00 CRIMEPREVNTN--$50.00 CRIMINAL ORDINANCE FEE--$65.00
TOTAL---$4618.00

I also said my :woot: - and then realized after the fact that this is a 6AM start for me again - I'd actually gotten used to finally not staggering to my computer first thing with my first coffee of the day...after 6 days a week for two and a bit months....

I woke up this morning with your post zinging thru my brain. No, I woke up LATE this morning with your post zinging thru my brain, wrastling with the covers to find my phone to see the time and quickly despite darkness and no coffee did the math to find that if Logical had to get up at six, that was eight my time and

OH MY GOD I AM MISSING IT.....

Jumped outta bed, scared the dog (who just missed being stepped on) clicked the computer on my way the coffee pot, grabbed a cup, flew back to office, signed in here and...

it's Wednesday.

I was very confused as to why "no one" was here.

But that's okay. I can still do time zone math in my head without coffee, and it means I have another day off...

gonna take some time and re read some of the docs pertaining to the reimbursement today.

I did the same thing! Got on here and was frantically searching for a link to the hearing. Then I remembered it's tomorrow. :banghead:

does anyone know if there will be any actual testimony on the witness stand by anyone? or is this just an oral argument by the attorneys? Thanks.
