True but there is evidence that he did own a pair of shoes that would have made one of these sets of prints. Shoes, that apparently, were not very common shoes. To me, that is more than a mild coincidence. One more in the list of many, many coincidences.

His shoes may have made the print but there is no evidence he was wearing the shoe at the time the print was made.

If JLY had a good explanation as to the whereabouts of that shirt, such as it had been left at PY's house or given to charity, he would have mentioned it at the last trial. Instead, his attorneys produced a photo of him wearing a similar but not identical (IMO) shirt. By doing that, they have eliminated any chance to say the shirt was conveniently left in Brevard, lost at the HI, etc.

Here is the link to JTF's post showing the photo presented by the defense last time vs. the hotel security camera. If anyone knows how copy that photo to this thread, I'd appreciate it. I'm not terribly skilled when it comes to that sort of thing.

Does MM have an alibi?

I had briefly forgotten about the email - the "I could kill you" part

I don't see anyone saying that who hasn't thought about doing the deed or thinking that was an option at least once - fairly seriously...

I would more easily discount it if he had a habit of saying it when he was mad - but we've only seen it once, and it was close to the murder.

I know that sounds odd - but that email had sooooo much latent aggression I found it chilling -and maybe flavored with a little foreshadowing. I know I am projecting - but I simply can't imagine emailing someone with a "I could kill you" - I CAN imagine a I HATE YOU - but it went way further than that...

Not watching. Did they introduce this email? If not they better!

Duel system.
The upstairs unit was not working...period.

I thought there had been some mention in testimony, but I'm not sure, that she had mentioned it got cold/cool upstairs. Plus, with her pregnancy, who knows how she liked to sleep.

If the air handler servicing the upstairs is out you wouldn't get anything other than a little convection. If it was the pump, you could get some heating capacity from the aux coil though those are usually sized pretty small since the primary purpose is to support the heat pump during defrost cycle or when the external temp is below the critical level for the heat pump. Running the aux or emergency heat in the air handler provides a little heat for a whole lot of money.

Only someone who was NOT JY would want JY's shoe prints in MY's blood at the crime scene. JMHO...

But JY said he didn't have those shoes anymore. He claimed those shoes had been given to Goodwill before the murder. So where did this other murderer get ahold of JY's HP Orbital shoes in order to make those prints???

Makes more sense that it was JY making both sets of prints. Once it became a bloody crime scene (which he was not expecting) he figured he needed to try and throw off the investigation by introducing evidence that wouldn't fit to him.

The shirt in the hotel video looks much lighter and has buttons instead of the round neck. MOO

Jason is blinking his eyes like crazy as the "shoe expert" shoes the impressions to the jury.

There is no evidence JY was wearing either of the shoes that made the bloody prints.

JMO

This case is a circumstantial case. There is no CSI effect and no smoking gun. Those who need solid "forensics" to be convinced of guilt, take comfort in knowing there isn't any. <mod snip>

True, there is no evidence he was wearing the shoes that left the bloody prints in fact there is no solid evidence he committed the crime. There is also nothing supporting the fact he WASN'T wearing the shoes and nothing PROVING he wasn't ever in the house. That's why it's circumstantial. I just hope this jury isn't as lazy as those in the Casey Anthony trial..

Only if you allow the coils to come on and not sure it can keep up with the entire house since it's supplemental / auxiliary.

As resistance heat - it's majorly expensive.

Aux heat is more than capable of heating a house. It is designed to keep the house warm when it is too cold for the heat pump to supply heat, typically below 20F outdoors temps.

JY hasn't testified at this trial and at the last one he said Michelle had given them to Goodwill. He didn't say he had given them away. The shoes may have been in the Goodwill donations Meredith said was in the garage.

Thank you the couger
The 2 don't look a thing alike.
Wonder why the defense tried to play that trick on the jury?

:D

That might be true but the facts entered into this case include Shelly testifying to how cold the house was that Thursday evening and that she never removed her coat while she was there.

It's tough to say, b/c apparently the HVAC was out side I think she had mentioned that it got pretty chilly for her at night. Plus she was 5 months pregnant, so that might have affected her habits.

I found it strange she was barefoot .

As an aside - having gone through an entire COLD winter without a heatpump and not even having the air handler working on the main floor - it was COLD everywhere (I don't have aux coils) but - the upstairs was cold too - because the unit sized to handle the smaller upstairs could not keep up with the entire house.

ceiling fans, gas fireplace and space heaters and it was still a 5 dog night most nights.

So - not surprising the downstairs was cold too (watching TV took place downstairs, right?) and there's no report that both units were kaput. Raleigh NC houses of that age are not necessarily known to be the most heavily insulated either.

The house, or at least the lower level, was uncomfortably cold. There has already been sworn testimony earlier in the week from her friends and her family confirming this (on the night of the murder.)

My wife doesn't like to wear shoes/socks at home much of the time... even if cold. Wraps up in a blanket and is good to go.
