The allegations are part of the picture, but not the whole thing. He himself is simply a bad candidate for the position, imo.

My concern is that if the investigation is a dud, then everyone will say next week, "See! The sexual assault allegations mean nothing so therefore he must be approved." Everything else objectionable about him will be swept away in conversation about the investigation. Smoke and mirrors.

#1 bad candidate -agree
#2 I can't even say this is #metoo anymore. It's me, three, four and five.

If for nothing else the senate judiciary found out it was no match for the elevation of women. Professor Ford's testimony will sink in, in the coming weeks. Her experience in the face of boys will be boys will sink in with meaning. Women are on the front lines.

If Kavanaugh gets confirmed, this experience might change him in ways we cannot know, for good or bad. I hope it's for the good.

the real question here with all of a sudden this confusion about recall following trauma has been buried by common sense in another whole domain

please send me cash if any of you would

acknowledge being at the scene of a murder 35 years ago

acknowledge that your friend is an arsonist and you were there the night she burned down a building

so much of this had been nonsense with the focus on well all the people there denied it

really?

if it was 36 hours ago give it a whirl

36 years ago lie

everyone there that night could go to prison for not doing anything to help her or call the cops on the creeps

if one is honest with themselves they would conclude they too will probably not be coming forward and saying yea i was there the night my buddy was too drunk to rape her but he tried

ask yourselves an honest question -- would you tell you were there or would you try i cant recall after all its 35 years ago

look at all the stuff with that hazing where the poor guy died

I can be honest with myself and acknowledge that i would not tell anyone if i was at the scene of attempted rape 35 years ago

white house with calender today was stunning those folks have some explaining to do and will be included in this

I had two years of dorm living trust me after she ran out the two of them boasted man i gave it to her she was seeing stars cause i am so great

really there is no conversation between a houseful of drunk guys when a woman runs out of the house looking wrecked

speaking in generalities caution

speaking in generalities

hetero drunk dudes are obnoxious when they
are with each other - especially when it comes to their delusional performances in bed !!

come on

Brilliant post.

I wish young gals would have watched Dr. Ford on tv, it would go a long way to helping them avoid going to parties to have a "good time".

The disclosure by Montgomery County Police Chief J. Thomas Manger and Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy came Friday, the same day that President Trump ordered the FBI to conduct a limited "supplemental" investigation.

But Manger and McCarthy noted that prosecution was unlikely in Maryland because authorities would have to apply the law that existed at the time of the offense, not the law that exists now, Baltimore's FOX 45 News reported.

Maryland authorities say they'll investigate Kavanaugh -- if a victim files a complaint

“For example, in 1982, assault and attempted rape were both misdemeanors and subject to a one-year statute of limitations,” they wrote.

But they added: “The Montgomery County Police Department and the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office stand ready to investigate any sexual assault allegation from any victim where the incident occurred in our jurisdiction.”

I have known a lot, a lot of people who were black out drunk--- they slurred and stumbled but they walked and communicated, usually threw-up at some point, had sex with someone and didn't remember, ate full meals, BUT didn't remember almost anything of the time frame when the alcohol was at its highest concentration in their bodies. There is a difference between black out drunk and passed out drunk. Passed out may happen after black out or not.

Also, I don't think Dr. Ford has said she was a choir girl. I would imagine that she had been drunk many a time and partied many a time. No one asked her to my knowledge. I would imagine she would be honest.

AND, this is what makes me call BS on the nominee--- it seems like he avoided being referenced as being drunk, people he knows have said he could drink heavily and be belligerent. Doubt it would happen but I would love to see the nominee answer that question under oath. Just be honest. Even, Bill Clinton admitted that he inhaled---what a nightmare that was.

Respectfully though what others may or may not have done has no relevancy since this is about one man. Imo the blacking out theory doesn't coincide with Ford's own testimony. Jmoo

I am glad the FBI is now handling this matter. They are experts in this area. I don't even see why it would take a week since both sides have investigated it from the time it came to their attention.

They already have so much turned over to them prior to the 7th investigation of BK which they are doing now.. than when AH made her claim.

I think all interviews will be more in depth since everyone has come out saying they are very willing to be interviewed by the FBI. So with all cooperating fully it should move quickly.

Maybe the men I have known that are anywhere near drunk, blackout drunk, vomiting drunk are different.
Because at that point they were not able to perform sexually.

Don't need to be able to "perform" to sexually assault someone.

How many among the hundreds who knew him in high school has said he would blackout and become belligerent? And how many of them have said it simply isn't true?

Could the ones speaking out against him have ulterior motives of their own for doing so since they seem to be in a teeny tiny minority of those who actually has known him most of their lives?

His character has been investigated by seasoned investigators throughout his entire adult life, you would think an alcohol problem would have come up before.

Oh geez, I just saw a commercial with a bunch of women saying "I stand with Brett". They looked like a bunch of Stepford wives.

Really? Paying (big bucks) for commercial time to elect a Supreme Court justice? Or is it to play to the one side of women on the political arena? If so, it only shows how scared and desperate they are about how he responded during this hearing. For myself, his words and demeanor cannot be forgotten.

IMO, this whole thing has come to a new low...very low.

I do think that once that there was a hint of scandal, the president and even Kavanaugh should have said, "Bring on the investigation.". If Kavanaugh had not done anything wrong, as he has stated, numerous times, why wouldn't he welcome an FBI investigation?

In my own situation, I would have welcomed any investigation into allegations. Bring it on, I had nothing to hide.

So, this investigation may dig up some stuff, If Kavanaugh had done anything, he would have been better off to have admitted "adolescent behavior", than to categorically deny it.

She couldn’t drive at the time, someone drove her to the home, someone drove her home if that’s were she ended up that night. Could have spent night at friends home.
I find it odd that she doesn’t remember how she got there or how she got home. Will be interesting to see if her driver surfaces.

Did ppl that went to club to swim always wear bathsuit under clothes? I went to beach, and a swim club at that age and we didn’t do that.

I think that because Dr Ford's has no corroborating evidence of her assault some are now trying to make Judge Kavanaugh look like a horrible person who is unfit to be on the Supreme Court.

Time to shift gears I suppose. JMO

World media tears into Kavanaugh hearing 'spectacle' - CNN

It was a day in which Brett Kavanaugh did himself few favors. After the US Supreme Court nominee's hearing on Thursday, even commentators on Fox News portrayed him as an aggressor with, as one said, "guns blazing" -- the very opposite characterization the judge had hoped to achieve.

Media around the world has also zoomed in on Kavanaugh's performance, with British news organizations in particular ridiculing Kavanaugh for his repeated denials of having high school drinking habits, and for unconvincingly painting a picture of his past as a conscientious student too consumed with sports to have time for women.

Really? This woman bared her soul in front of the entire world just yesterday. And yet you don't believe she'll cooperate with the FBI investigation? Fascinating POV.

She has requested an FBI investigation. She testified to that and about cooperating. Of course she’ll cooperate.

I was clarifying black out vs passed out. The original description by Dr. Ford was that he was not passed out. His hands were all over her body as he was trying to get under her swimsuit. Not passed out. Blacked out? Maybe.

True. I really hope that Dr. Ford will participate
with the FBI'S investigation.
But I doubt if she will. Big Time.
Moo

Why? She has indicated she will welcome an FBI investigation.

Was that request for herself?
