The allegations are part of the picture, but not the whole thing. He himself is simply a bad candidate for the position, imo.
My concern is that if the investigation is a dud, then everyone will say next week, "See! The sexual assault allegations mean nothing so therefore he must be approved." Everything else objectionable about him will be swept away in conversation about the investigation. Smoke and mirrors.

If for nothing else the senate judiciary found out it was no match for the elevation of women. Professor Ford's testimony will sink in, in the coming weeks. Her experience in the face of boys will be boys will sink in with meaning. Women are on the front lines.
If Kavanaugh gets confirmed, this experience might change him in ways we cannot know, for good or bad. I hope it's for the good.
