Still wondering where his wife was off to with cash, passports and a gun on that Saturday morning.

Did she panic and try to get out of Dodge because she feared she would be implicated somehow?

Also still trying to figure out why he was paying for a room in some house when he had money troubles and had his own house to live in.

So much we don’t know yet. I wouldn’t be surprised if the wife faces some charges potentially as the picture becomes clearer.

I think he had help in some form in the early going.

Yes I noticed the amount of women as compared to men.

He seems to have a problem with women, more than men.

Misogyny is a Precursor to Terrorism

Mass shootings, a form of terrorism that occurs frequently in the U.S., are committed overwhelmingly by men with histories of gender-based violence: One 2019 analysis by Mother Jones found that more than a third of the perpetrators of mass shootings since 2011 had a documented history of violence against women. Violence often leads to more violence, and women are typically the first target.

Perhaps she was afraid of him? Thought he had lost his mind and was fleeing to protect her kids?

Thank heavens he's been captured!

Hoping Travis Decker will be next. Tho admittedly there are less grounds for optimism in that particular case.

And I sure hope he starts talking!!!!
This! Would love to know his internet history and what discussion boards, etc. he's a part of.

I'm worried about what he might "inspire" others to do. MOO

So far it seems she hasn't done anything against the law.

I suppose in the US it's not against the law to have weapons or ammunition in your car.
Not against the law to have passports in your name in your car.

Not against the law to carry cash in your car, even what might seem to be a large amount to some.
There are some people who like taking cash with them when they travel. I'm one of them.

Not against the law to travel.

Maybe she was afraid of him.
Maybe they'd been living apart for awhile.

Maybe he not only left a note to his friends, but also one for his children.

I think the prosecution can only make charges of second-degree murder in Minnesota (same in Ohio and some other states) so that is why the charges are, for now, second-degree murder. Minnesota appears to require that only a grand jury can charge someone with first- degree murder.

So the prosecution initially will charge a suspect like VB with second-degree murder and then present the case to a grand jury which can indict for first-degree murder. JMO from what I've read online in doing some quick research on this.

I'm not saying that NOT releasing it would add to public safety, but I was a little creeped out to see his "hit list." It seemed like it could inspire others if they found him a hero whose work had to be continued.

MOO

Edited to add: this is why I'm so glad he was captured and alive. He can't be made into a myth for the potential followers of whatever his cause was.

BELLE PLAINE, Minn. (AP) — The man suspected of killing a Minnesota lawmaker and wounding another crawled to officers in surrender Sunday after they located him in the woods near his home, bringing an end to a massive, nearly two-day search that put the entire state on edge.

Vance Boelter was arrested and charged with two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder. Jail records show Boelter was scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.

It’s odd to me too.
For me, if I had no prior knowledge of his plot and woke up to that news, the first people I call is LE. So they know I’m not a part of it and can protect me.
Why LE wasn’t at her doorstep before she had a chance to run off is strange to me too.
I honestly can’t see anyway to explain away a weapon, cash and passports under the circumstances.

Wasn't the implication that he got the cash out of the bank and then went home to give it to her? Maybe I'm misunderstanding the timeline.

yeah, this is not a good look for his wife and other relatives present in the vehicle. 😳

I wonder if he stayed sort of close to home because he thought he'd be able to go back there every now and then to shower, get food, and/or change clothes.

On Sunday evening, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar shared a statement from Yvette Hoffman expressing appreciation for the outpouring of public support.

"John is enduring many surgeries right now and is closer every hour to being out of the woods," Yvette Hoffman said in a text that Klobuchar posted on social media. "He took 9 bullet hits. I took 8 and we are both incredibly lucky to be alive. We are gutted and devastated by the loss of Melissa and Mark."
