TX Suzanne Clark Simpson missing in San Antonio, last seen by friends at dinner - 6 October 2024 *Arrest* #2

DEC 4, 2024
The indictment for tampering/fabricating physical evidence with the intent to impair revealed that knowing an investigation was in progress, Simpson alleged to have concealed a reciprocating saw.

On Wednesday morning, Simpson’s attorney filed a motion to quash the indictment, which means they want the court to consider if the indictment is valid and are asking a court to void it.

The indictment also sheds light on the aggravated assault charged, saying that Brad "used or exhibited a deadly weapon, namely the hands of the defendant, and an object unknown to the grand jury" that was intended to cause Suzanne's death and serious bodily injury.

The case now heads to a district court where proceedings will begin to prepare for a potential trial.

Currently, the case is assigned to the 226th District Court, which will be presided over by Judge Velia Meza.

However, Judge Meza is expected to step down from the case at the end of this year. A new judge will then be appointed.

I read that in the article about "the hands of the defendant."

Thank goodness for her children stepping up!

Authorities informed family members this afternoon that Suzanne’s DNA has been identified on a reciprocating saw, which was mentioned in an indictment that came down on Tuesday.

Reciprocating saws are motorized hand saws.

One of the counts says that Brad knowingly concealed the saw to hinder the investigation.

Brad is charged with tampering with physical evidence with the intent to impair a human corpse. The indictment says that Brad committed an offense, "namely a murder, alter, destroy, and conceal a human corpse."

At this time, it’s unclear where Brad is accused of hiding the saw and when investigators found it.

This is horrific.

Doesn't surprise me that he cut up her body. But when and where did he do that? Most everyone now days has battery operated power tools, so having access to a power outlet wouldn't be necessary depending on what kind of reciprocating saw he had.

Given the timeline and the amount of time spent at certain places, he must have cut up her body at or near the house during the early morning hours before leaving in his truck the next morning. I think it would take a little longer than 15 minutes to dismember her body.

Now knowing he cut her up, makes me wonder what part or parts of her body he may have placed in the bucket and sealed with the Quikrete.

I bet the saw was part of the stuff left in the pump house.

And I am going to expand on your theory and suggest that she is not all in one place .

Just a theory - but was discussing this today and our thinking was exact same …he prepared things in his garage and loaded the containers (big cooler, trash can and tarp) into the truck for rack was just a weighty device to prevent wind blowing tarp up to reveal contents.

Looking at the interviews in reverse now with fresh eyes and information things jump out. Suggest all go review and reread statements and interviews. Makes a lot more sense. People knew more than they can say till a trial or he gets away Scott free. Recall: sister interviews , bizarre social posts, mother shocked responses , brothers comment statements along the way.

Explains the public defender too.

How terrible for her family - will this help locate her remains I wonder?

...family members told KENS 5 they were informed by law enforcement that her DNA was found on a motorized saw.

It was the indictment for that last charge (tampering w/evidence) that said Brad allegedly tried to conceal a reciprocating saw – tools that are typically small, handheld and machine-powered – as a way to "impair its availability as evidence" on Oct. 8, one day before he was arrested. Law enforcement have not expanded publicly on how he tried to hide the tool or what kind of evidence may have been found on it.

Interesting discussion. Some good points about the community staying silent bc of the social fear . Extended family members that I know personally just want the media spotlight on the Simpson family to end. It’s an odd and sad response. The reporters basically talk about it .

People knew. The reporters discuss in detail.

Seems as though authorities had a hot tip about a landfill but was it the correct landfill? No doubt parts were disposed of in trash bags and I can only surmise that her head may have been in the cement bucket and dropped in a body of water. As for the tarp… what was wrapped up in it? Tarps don’t biodegrade so it would be a valuable piece of evidence to locate, even years from now. And where was evidence of a clean up for such a bloody project? Was it done outside or in the garage on the tarp? Did authorities check the contents of the cooler left in the truck?
He’s not that smart and he will be convicted by this trail of circumstantial evidence.

In the reporters discussion they talked about how the 15 year old came home late the night of the 6th Oct. could he have seen something and quietly found a way to tell his siblings uncle or LE? The reporters discussed how the children witnessed much in their lives. The lack of mention of the 15 yo throughout this has been curious given that he’s in school and presumably coming and going from the home. There does seem to be some indication that the anonymous witness who noted the gun in the Simpson home missing and alerting LE to this indicates inside household knowledge. The older 2 don’t live at home. So they would’ve have seen but could be texting with the brother. Just some ideas. Bottom line the kids all knew the situation was increasingly dangerous for all of them. Mental instability is on full display with the new saw info. Many details make more sense now. We “have eyes to see” in retrospect.

I’m thinking that she was wrapped in the blue tarp and then he used the saw at their property in bandera and put her in the garbage bags that he got from Home Depot that day

Joe, I agree with what you said in the first paragraph. Furthermore, a Google search gave me an AI overview which says that "most reciprocating saws are now battery-powered (cordless)", meaning that isn't just true (as you said it above) generally for power tools, it's also true specifically for reciprocating saws. Although here, we should keep in mind that prosecutors have this saw as evidence, and they know exactly what model it is. They can also see how Brad had it configured. They might also know when he bought it. (I'd guess previously since it does bump up that cash purchase at Home Depot by about $100, but he could have purchased it on 10/7, if he had lots of cash or maybe even with a separate purchase at HD that day. Prosecutors could have left that info out of the affidavit.)

Regarding where he used it, I think it's still challenging to guess. My current guess is on the blue tarp and in the wooded/brushy area, before he moved the body much. On the other hand, if he bought it at HD, then he might have used it only near the burial site (so, somewhere near Medina, Texas). But if he owned it previously, there are other options. Regarding in his home, you do have to remember that his 5-year-old is sleeping there, and he'd need to need to move the body there. Yeah, that is why my guess is that he tried to use it out in the wooded/brushy area.

BTW, we also don't know how far he got in that part activity. He may have realized that would be a very messy job and stopped after just a brief attempt. Note that we still don't know about any of Suzanne's blood being found in the truck or in the home or outside on the ground. We only just know about her DNA (blood cells, I presume) on the saw (on the blade, I presume). So, we really don't know much yet. Obviously, police/prosecutors must know more about this stuff.

I don't know about any of the rest of you, but the information about the reciprocating saw felt like a gut punch to me. I can't stop thinking about her family hearing this stuff. And then I picture his smug face in the mug shot and think how much I'd love to knock that look off his face..........
