I am worried about health and weather but I think that the boys are braver than we think bcs of their age, team spirit, camaraderie (sp?) also that they know they have no other choice, Go Wild Boars!!!!!

The torrential rain everyone has feared has arrived, drenching the media centre just kilometres from #Thamluangcave where a rescue mission is currently underway.

(Didn't read the link, but if you're saying this, then...)

Zencompass where you at we need you NOW

Not sure how many here remember Savanah Greywind...o/t ...note to discuss later, as related to this situation.

Eta: see glad I took a break, I recommend some of you step away and sleep, eat, that kind of thing. Maybe bathe?

I did take a break for a couple of hours. I'd LOVE to bathe but alas it's 2:30am, toddler is asleep and older kids are in bed. So, no bath for me tonight since I refuse to bathe if the toddler isn't being supervised. #yesiamparanoid

I will eat though. I have only had crackers, caffeine and beer today.

I KNOW I can't pull an all nighter but I also know I will never catch up with this thread if I don't! I haven't followed a case this closely in a very long time.

Officials are planning to send the boys to the Chiangrai Prachanukroh hospital, almost 60 miles from the cave, after they are freed.

A number of trolleys now sit by the main entrance in anticipation of their arrival.

.@CNN has witnessed gurneys being prepared at a local hospital for the eventual arrivals of the soccer team, once each of the 13 members are rescued from the cave #ThaiCaveRescue pic.twitter.com/9yOaWRCwJ4

Well FTR it's not like anyone knew this wasn't coming.

Ftr not blaming anyone.

It’s pouring hard on the livestream. Ugh....
I hope the current isn’t too strong and fast.

(People sleep if you have to. I'm glad I did.)

I hope they don't rush and take chances because of the heavy rain.

ABC live blog

Quick recap of the rescue operation:

  • The operation began at 10:00am local time
  • The rescue mission could take two to four days depending on conditions in the cave
  • The first boy is expected to be out of the cave at 9:00pm (local time) at the earliest
  • Each of the boys will have two divers to help them make their way out of the cave
  • The 12 boys and their soccer coach have been trapped in the cave for 15 days

Hello everyone. I'm back for the evening shift. ;) I hope you are all able to catch some sleep and eat.

In catching up on what I missed today, it looks like this is what we've been waiting for-- our Wild Boars are coming out! Our hearts are with all the young men and their loved ones and the rescue personnel. Let's hope for some good news soon!

Mornin' Everyone- So great to see our regulars here keeping up
on all the news.
Thanks ALL for the updates. Really appreciate them.

Rain is "not good news at all," says CNN correspondent David McKenzie. It adds even more "added urgency" to situation. He says current rain is likely a "squall line" to the bigger storm.

Looks like from the photo above- that the journalists are now
in town where the permanent buildings are located.

Morning all, I can’t catch up on the new thread, has anything happened in the last few hours that I should know about?

Hopefully today’s the day! Big group hug!!

I really wish they had started yesterday.

I don't know how quickly the rain gets to them but I'm extremely concerned that a flash flood DURING the rescue could end up being a disaster. Especially if it's true that they won't have their own scuba masks on because of the water level.

I was feeling so optimistic 15 minutes ago.... :(
