Anxious parents sleep at Thailand cave site as rescue continues

The mother of one of the boys reportedly freed in the northern Thailand cave rescue has said she is sleeping at the cave site as she waits for confirmation her son was among the first four children to make it out.

Four boys were freed from the cave in an eight-hour operation on Sunday after spending more than two weeks stranded by water on high ground about two miles (3.2km) inside. They are recovering in hospital in the nearby city of Chiang Rai.

Authorities have not named the boys who had beenrescued – not even to the parents of the group, said Namhom Boonpiam, the mother of Mongkhol Boonpiam.

I am not being Derick downer but most of us have been under duress recently

it can be cumulative

prepping when in this state of chaos and confusion is helpful!

the reality is today was mainly imo a result of no rain in a week and the pumps

that is over

we should imo remain hopeful for some more neat joyous humanity based wonders while remaining cognizant of the reality that the water levels pretty much dictate much

the space for oxygen levels and the duration of time underwater in the areas that are prone to get flooded

lets hope

the raindrops are everyone's destiny here imo

Yes, you are speaking the reality I am deeply concerned about. I think every moment that goes by significantly increases the risk of getting the remaining out alive.
I am opposed to the wait. It sounded like there was a rather large crew of divers that had arrived. Can't we have the elites coach them, or must they themselves be the rescuers? Waiting is a bad idea, IMO.

Why would they not tell the parents, that is unnecessarily cruel!

with ya

they have been incredible don't understand why there is not an enitre second shift ( like a hospital) all ready

Maybe they thought with the forecast dont want to get a bunch more people trapped and killed as the floodwaters rush in ??

It could create distraction of parents demanding justification of who was picked to go out first.

I didn't think of this....anxiety increasing.
I think they should go NOW, regardless.
What ever happened to this Elon solution? I wonder if it could increase the speed in shuttling them out?

They are replenishing the oxygen tanks. Checking all equipment so that we don't have another rescuer die. its necessary, believe me.

My bet is that the elite divers need some rest and will be back early morning their time and start the second round. Authorities had said it would be a 3-4 day rescue. I think it has always been the plan to do it that way and that they are on track. Today was a success. Tomorrow will be also. Failure is not an option for those divers. Rick Stanton and John Volanthen have saved countless other people trapped in flooded caves in the past. I posted a link earlier. Read up on them. They are the best in the world at underwater cave rescues. Here’s another link about them also.

Once all the boys and coach are out then the others have to get out too....the Dr's and nurses. I'm hoping the rains subside.

That is so scary. What if the rains increase and they all, boys, coach, docs, nurses, the many other divers, have to scramble to get out of there? What if there's not enough oxygen tanks? OMG I'm so worried for all of them!

The parents don't even know who got out today. Sometimes I find it very hard to understand the mentality in this country. o_O

I think I can kind of understand that. Reporters would be all over the families of the ones who are now out, and the other 9 are still in danger, and their families still experiencing extreme anxiety.

They are a "team" and it seems fitting that there be no celebrating until they are all out.

Hi everyone,
Jumping in late because I couldn’t find a thread on this.
I understand the re-supply of the tanks and etc but unless what I’ve read over the days is inaccurate ( seems to be a common thing) aren’t there like 90 international professional divers and 40 of Thailand’s professional divers there?
Seems if true they would utilize all resources of the pro’s.

Is this Elon Musk's pod? If so, it might save the younger, weaker boys.
