They both have also designed & constructed some equipment.

John Volanthen - Wikipedia

Volanthen designs and constructs some of his own diving equipment, and has been called a "technical guru."[13] He designed a mapping device that collects information while diving.[14] He also designs and modifies his own rebreathers to increase their compactness and efficiency.[13]

.....

Stanton is a technical diver, developing his own diving gear to great effect. He developed two closed-circuit rebreather units; this novel technology has been "instrumental in his achieving cave diving depth records around the world."[12] One modification was to allow the rebreather to be worn on the side of the body rather than the chest or back. This is advantageous in fitting through smaller spaces. He builds prototypes of his designs and tests them in swimming pools before using them in caves.[5]

Richard Stanton (cave diver) - Wikipedia

Dedicated and devoted to the sport.

My bet is that the elite divers need some rest and will be back early morning their time and start the second round. Authorities had said it would be a 3-4 day rescue. I think it has always been the plan to do it that way and that they are on track. Today was a success. Tomorrow will be also. Failure is not an option for those divers. Rick Stanton and John Volanthen have saved countless other people trapped in flooded caves in the past. I posted a link earlier. Read up on them. They are the best in the world at underwater cave rescues. Here’s another link about them also.

There are holes in the top of that pod. Stalagmites will get caught in the holes and the pod will get trapped. I don't get it. I'm thinking "1001 uses for duct tape" to cover the holes.

That is so scary. What if the rains increase and they all, boys, coach, docs, nurses, the many other divers, have to scramble to get out of there? What if there's not enough oxygen tanks? OMG I'm so worried for all of them!

I saw lots of tanks on site, and of course, they are refilled.

The tanks generate heat as the air is pressurized. There is a limit to how fast they can do it. It is standard practice to put the tanks in a cold water bath to speed the process.

For general info: The boy's tanks are most likely filled with surface air, not oxygen. The rescue divers may have mixed gases because of the repetitive dives, but they can't know how the boys would react to mixed gas. I don't think they would introduce a variable they didn't have to.

Does Elon Musk own a company called Wing Technology? This is a hoax if he doesn't.

Hi everyone,
Jumping in late because I couldn’t find a thread on this.
I understand the re-supply of the tanks and etc but unless what I’ve read over the days is inaccurate ( seems to be a common thing) aren’t there like 90 international professional divers and 40 of Thailand’s professional divers there?
Seems if true they would utilize all resources of the pro’s.

I think that number was amended to 90 in total (50 international and 40 Thai) but it still seems like a lot. However, possibly the first stage, which is the most dangerous could be handled only by the most experienced (or best of the best) and then handed off to others. You read so many different accounts, that it's hard to really know what is going on. Whatever they are doing, thankfully, it seems to be working.

That cave must be getting pretty crowded with all the divers, pumpers and whatnot. I guess we will learn more, after it's all over.

I believe they will start the 2nd rescue without letting anyone know. Media may speculate because of activity increase but the authorities will not say anything. Reasons, they do not want pressure on the volunteers from media, Pressure on authorities in answering and making mistakes in answers to questions, not wanting family be pressured by media or maybe even worry when it starts...less time family knows the better for the family authorities think.....JMO but authorities are trying to work all ends. Less said may be best right now. The sooner the team gets out the better with this weather. JMOO

If you go back and read Elon musk's Twitter posts...sorry I cant help link those here...he knows exactly what hes doing and those holes or whatever are part of the design for a scientific reason I cannot understand...way over my intellect...but if they've arrived this will be the solution for bringing them out, especially if the water rises above oxygen levels. Just my understanding but these products were custom built by his engineers just for this rescue. Hugs.

I didn't think the boys were being given tanks, but were sharing an air-line with the accompanying diver. Would the diver be likely to have both oxygen and air? In any event, I feel a bit better knowing they would be sharing a line - it sounds a bit safer.

I agree.

Pretty excited here! This makes me more comfortable. Now hopefully it won't rain too heavily and there won't be any flash floods.
