Unfortunately they're talking about turning it into a national park and main tourist attraction. They talked about this before they even got any boys out of the cave. Sad.

I recall reading this before. It's revolting.
I don't think the cave should be closed, but for anyone to already start acting like it's Disneyland, when these kids are on death's doorstep?
I just wanna smack someone upside the head.

I am glad that the reports are wrong, about the coach being in the first group of rescues. I have to admit, it kind of rubbed me the wrong way, hearing that he was in the first group out. I just felt like he should be like a Captain of the ship, and wait until everyone else is safe, before he jumps ship.

I know, I know, he has been fantastic, and has kept the boys alive, and gave them his share of the food rations etc. He has been heroic. But that does need to make up for the fact that it was RAINING already, when he took 12 young kids into those dangerous caves. Bad judgment in my opinion. Only 0ne adult, with 12 kids, in a very dangerous underground cavern, that is known to flood. Very bad choice on his part.

He has made up for it by the way he handled the crisis situation. I applaud him for that and he deserves gratitude. I know he didn't have any bad intentions

Coach did not come out.
From dailymail

The first boy out was Monhkhol Boonpiam, 13, known as Mark. The second boy was Prajak Sutham, known as Note. Number three was Nattawoot Thakamsai, a 14-year-old asthma sufferer whose parents have already lost a baby daughter to cancer. Lastly came Pipat Bodhu, 15, aka Nick, who was not even in the team but came along as a friend of the goalkeeper.

This sign from the school that six of the boys attend makes me smile.

Learning English with the boys from the cave. Just in case. A sign at Mae Sai Prasitsart School, where six of the boys are students. #dpareporter #Thailand #ThaiCaveRescue

How are you feeling? Good to see you back. :)
(Thanks creepcrusher, I bathed and got some good food and rest. Cant wait for these boys to be able to do the same.)

Home stretch.

(I'm just in awe of all the rescuers...the videos via the Daily Mail were chilling, the ones with the head cams in the cave. Really gives you a good perspective. Looking for link.).

Thanks for clarifying, sorry for my misinformation via CBSN. We need to keep it straight here, for real. That's why WS is so awesome.

Are there medics or others in there with them now?

I'm watching reuters here - View of Chiang Rai hospital - they're close to the cave now, not at the hospital.

I hope there will be a livestream close to the time the boys get out of the cave. If any of you are awake when the time is near and you find a link will you please share it? TIA

I wonder when they actually started? I need to reset my alarm. There's no way I can keep my eyes open for 8 more hours.

I woke yesterday at like 5:55am EST (by puppy alarm, one was biting another’s ear, they’re almost 5 weeks) and it wasn’t too long after that confirmation of their extrication was published... Granted, the reporting is abysmal, totally different every 7 minutes or so, but they did get the 4 out.

ETA the time I woke up because I’m tired and dense

I was thinking in the direction of demolishing the cave by explosion to avoid any future cave explorers.

Apparently I wasn't thinking in the right direction lol

Public encouraged to write messages of support for boys

A visitors' book has been left at the hospital where the boys are being treated for members of the public to write messages of support. Patrick Sarnsamak/CNN

Hospital staff have placed a visitors' book for members of the public to write messages of support to the boys, four of whom are currently undergoing treatment at the Chiang Rai Prachanukroh hospital.

The book has been placed in front of the ER area, which has been opened up for the city's residents to stop by and write a message to cheer up the boys.

Funny, my alarm was the kittens and Mama cat we're fostering :) Needless to say I'm exhausted and probably have many typos, please forgive me lol

Regarding the coach- if there isn't anyone with them (medics, etc), I can't see anyone wanting to leave the kids alone. They would have to have him stay, I think...

Also GO AWAY RAIN.

The coach being so young, he likely had a strong connection with the boys on a very special level. My son's cross country coach was like him. He was kids' coach, friend, mentor, and 'family'. I read in an article (forgot which one) that in addition to the doc's advise, the boys had a say in who goes first. hmm..how did they decide?

I hope we get to hear about all those special details later, after all of them survive and recover.

Keeping faith and hope that the divers will do their job, and the boys will listen and come out alive! What a story of the adventure they'll have to tell for generations to come. If that's the type thing their culture would do of course. Prayers for all involved for a safe and effective trip today!
I promise to not be Debbie Downer like I was last night. Sorry about that.

Cave is collecting the rain water during monsoon season. So it would be an environmental disaster to demolish it.
