The cost of searching for Kyron

I think they are using the $900,000 surplus. the D.A.'s request still stands. But, as I said, surmised earlier, the Sferiff did say that the investigator would be required through the trial phase of the investigation.

Politics certainly is possible here. It's hard to believe the Sheriff had no idea there was going to be a $900,000 surplus just a few days ago when he asked for the extra money!

Quote from the link:
Schrunk said "we are confident of a good resolution (in the Kyron Horman
case), and legally."

IMO there is only 1 good resolution I can think of!

Kyron being returned alive = good resolution
Charges brought against person responsible = good resolution (legally)

So no 4th person to review all those thousands of pages of subpoenaed records? No overtime for the 3 people who will be reviewing all that?

:(

Sounds like one hand does not know what the other is doing, re: finances. Hope the case itself is not so nebulous to all concerned...

I'm glad to a certain extent that they plan to work "overtime" within the next few months. However, overall, this is not sounding good. Using past cases as references, I know that fundraisers have been done to cover the costs of certain searches, etc. But, this sounds a bit desparate. :/

It's a good indication they don't know if he's alive or dead. IMO. they are TRYING to not make this into a cold case. However, from the time Kyron went missing and LE started a formal search, 12 hrs had elasped. They are trying to play "catch up." If they ask for more money after Oct. IMO, they have nothing.

I think so

The reason I have doubts is that without Kyron, what would the charge be? I think they are still as stuck, just that they realize they have enough money to last 3 more months or so...

- Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton surprised county commissioners Thursday morning by withdrawing an expected request for $242,000 in additional funding to pursue the Kyron Horman investigation. Stayton tabled the request until October, and actually announced the Sheriff's office would return about $900,000 to county coffers from savings in the previous fiscal year.

I feel as if I am riding a 'tilt-a-whirl' -- getting dizzy with all these reversals.

Weird how this wasn't "known" to be possible a few days ago????

Yeah, Tuffy. What has changed? Have they found Kyron or had a confession? Interesting.

coincidental that it is on ''pre-hearing'' (cancelled or not) day

The people of Portland need to wake up and ask WTF? Do they have a POI or not? You can only "No comment" for so long before you start to look incompetent. This it beginning to look like mayberry here.

I am wondering if they know-or have been told-he is dead. Kaine was barely holding himself together at the wall...

And didn't they interview Kaine for a few hours a day or 2 ago?

Well, let's think about it. Hmmm... That only gives them $250,000 for future Court & DA proceedings. Enough for a conviction??

He deserves advance notice -- perhaps the wall was the last bit of semi private time for now.

Hmmm. Inquiring minds want to know. Kaine meets with LE for three hours. Kaine visits Wall of Hope. LE plans press conference seven days in advance. Seems like something must be happening...jmo
