Gee if it were not for TLC, I do wonder how they would furnish the house, get thousands upon tens of thousand of dollars, and ensure that the public knows all about how to raise Stepford kids. Gee the boys would be well served to "join" the military, they do have the back ground training for it.
Trust me there is more money in this for this family then anyone realizes. I do wonder how they attempt to support them all, well now I have a idea how.
Maybe you know more about this family than I do? My mother was one of 16 children. My aunt had 16 as well, and adopted a 17th. They managed without welfare or public assistance, or TLC.
So maybe it is just this specific family that you take issue with? Should they be any different from the "Little People Big World" family? Should they not be compensated for the TLC show either? How about the Ozzie show.. should that family not be compensated? What about the shows about the spoiled rich girls and their 16th birthday parties? No compensation for them? This is capitalism, and it is a show that folks want to watch. Part of the capitalism does include sponsors... if the sponsors feel this is money well spent, then that is there choice to sponsor the show.
Oh, and there is no shame in joining the Military.
Oh I forgot, having the kids "buddy" with a young one, dressing the kids all the same, appearing on TV for an income, getting their house furnished, free. Not sending the girls to college to be educated.
Wow, sound like a great deal for them. Now if they would only not use electricity, and use candles so they do not contribute to the global warming and green house gases,I am sure the girls won't be driving cars, so that is a plus.
I would be willing to bet that our richie rich politicians and Hollywood stars, who scream the loudest about this, are also the ones who contribute most to this carbon footprint that you speak of.
At least with the other religious organizations they do not rely on the rest of the world to supply them with electricity and gas. Now they are truly "productive" and self sufficient members of society. A religion that is truly self sufficient.
huh? Provide links to where this
religion in particular is relying on the rest of the world to supply them with electricity and gas? As opposed to the rest of us.. you and me.
Why can't these people use candles and grow their own food.
Why should they use candles? Do you use candles? Does Al Gore, or that other guy who is supposed to care about the little people? Oh and maybe they do have a garden.
What happens when "one" of 17 kids wants to use the phone, do they have to make an appointment "days" in advance, is there a lottery to see who uses the phone that day, are they set for a time limit say 3 minutes each every other day or week. Or do they see the phone as "devils" work.
What makes you think a child is entitled to the telephone? Hey.. maybe the family is trying to reduce that ole carbon imprint, and they are limiting telephone use? Same with the tv, and internet. hehe.. seriously, my mother grew up without a telephone, and I grew up without a tv (mostly), and we are no worse for the wear.
Do they have bedtime stories and tuck in at night, not by parents but by brothers and sisters. Do they do this in assembly line fashion. The parents cannot even keep the names and ages of the kids straight and some people seem to think that they all get the emotional attention that every child craves, that they are "unique" and valued. No they are just one of the numbers. What number child are you Jennifer: I am girl number 4.
What about you Josh: I am boy number 3.
You sound so angry. yikes! I know my mother got us girls mixed up all the time, and there were only 4 of us. I do the same with my kids... get names mixed up. Oh, I am the 3rd daughter. Daughter number 3.
At least these kids are not being raised by a babysitter, or daycare only to come home as latchkey children. I am sure they struggle with some things, but they seem to be managing just fine. Kids appear to be well adjusted.
Mom I want to talk to you about my future and what I may want to be when I grow up: Jennifer the only thing you are going to be when you grow up, your entire purpose on this planet is to have babies, as many as you can and then try to remember all of their names. The only purpose you have is to educate the children and be a homemaker.
Take a look at the website, and see the future goals these kids have. BTW, there is no shame in being a mother and a homemaker.
But Mom, I am smart, I want to do more. Well too bad for you Jennifer, our religion has decided for you. Your entire life has been chosen for you as it is will all of the girls. Only the boys get educated.
You are projecting things that you don't know to be true. I will need links to show that this religion does not allow girls to be educated past highschool. They will have to inform the daughters of this, because based on there goals, nurse, midwife.. they will need further education.
You seem so very angry at these parents, and very judgemental.
Why don't they tell the other "flip" side of a family with 8 kids living in abject poverty, but unable to provide for all of the current kids, let alone the future ones.
Maybe you should email TLC and ask them that? TLC is out to make money, and if they think it will sell, I am sure they would do it.
