The red rose - revisited

  • #141
Hmm. In the rectangle box where the rose was supposed to be can someone mark it with an "X" where it was actually found, or does noone know exactly where... If MC said the area wasn't searched "well" enough, it leads me to think of a well. JMO I'm probably reading too much into it but if Haleigh can be found, too much is not enough after a year. Maybe she didn't even say well enough, maybe it was good enough. I'm just thinking....

Misty's just not that clever. But there is a well in the general vicinity of where the rose was found, if I recall.

I'm sure a few people may know but those of us who were searching that area we were only told the rose was found somewhere in this area. It's a large area. I think they did that so everyone searched all areas with the same intensity looking for clues. It was searched extremely well, we all wanted to find something that would bring her home.

I understand what you are saying. This is so heartbreaking. As much as I cringe writing these things, it's the hard stuff that needs to be talked about. MC story is so void of any detail, that the rose statement just seems so signifigant. I hope someone would mark that box with an X after the fact of the original search just so we could see where she said it was/where it was. Thanks for searching GRANNY, God Bless You.

I think Misty threw LE a bone and it turned out to be fake, like the rose.

http://www.blippr.com/movies/179633-August According to several news sources, while Misty was undergoing and completely failing the battery of tests being administered, she made a comment that indicated she may know where to search for Haleigh. She told investigators they needed to double-check a patch of ground marked by a single plastic rose. “She said there was a place that was not searched very well and that we should look for a red rose, and she gave us the location,” said Steph Watts, who recorded the sessions for EquuSearch. “We went and we looked, and we found it, and the next day we took Putnam County investigators back there,” Watts said. “I don’t think they are going to dig where the rose is and find the body, but the fact that they went with us shows that they are following up on every lead.” EquuSearch is making plans to return to the area in the near future.

MC comment- "I'll make the cops look real stupid" or something very close to that makes me wonder if this is what she was talking about.

Re: recorded the sessions for EquuSearch- are these recordings released?

ETA: Can cadaver dogs find remains this long after they are missing? And were they taken to this area orginially? I read the areas searched thread but couldn't find this info in there. TY.

BBM: I have the same question.

Also, can someone please tell me the date and the "possible" time this search took place?

Yes and IMO Misty borrowed CaA's playbook.

Not sure if we were ever given a accurate time and date. Here is a link to the blog post by Steph Watts who was actually present during the search. He states it is in the week of August 28, 2009 http://stephww.wordpress.com/2009/08/28/does-a-rose-hold-the-clue-to-where-haleigh-is/

If you read the blog you can get an idea of when the search took place and how. I would copy and paste for you but not sure how much of a blog I can post. : )

I was doing some reading about cadaver dogs recently and found some excellent information on the subject. In answer to your question Can cadaver dogs find remains this long after they are missing? - the answer is yes.

Warning - The next paragraph might be upsetting, apologies.
Assuming the remains have entered the final stage of decomposition and the dry skeleton itself has begun to disintegrate, the odor of decomposition will be absent and a dry musty odor will emanate from the fragmented bones. Now, the dog will not be able to locate the remains from a distance and will have to be in the general vicinity of the final (subterranean) resting place.

I would like to provide the links for anyone interested in reading up. Please be aware that a lot of the material concerns the details of the chemistry and mechanism of post-mortem decomposition and may be upsetting for some.

I did a search for the "red rose" reference on the websleuths website.

Most of the posts were downstairs. I can't begin to express how painful it is to read and try to follow conversations on a thread for general discussions of rumors.

I think I have a headache now. LOL

Parking lot, members only:

I pulled up page 26 but it is probably a few pages before and a quite a few pages after.

Proceed with patience and extreme caution LOL

If the red rose was a fake and planted, then so could the cinder blocks and yellow rope.

I found an old article (it took me from the time I posted above until now about 45 mins.)

Here it is:

NOTE: I am linking page 2 of a three page article.

snip:

...Rich Giles with Equusearch was among about 30 members of the group who hunted through the area Saturday. He described it as a strip of wooded property of varying widths running from the St. Johns River east behind the home where Haleigh, her brother and her father were then staying. The land had been searched before, Giles said.

The rose was located on some of the property behind the family's previous residence, he said.

Participants were on foot and were an arms-length apart as they moved in a line through the woods once and then back through again. Humidity and bees were the group's main problems during the search that lasted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Searchers looked for anything out of the ordinary, Giles said, such as signs of a struggle or disturbed ground...

I can't remember if Tim had the dogs out there. But I think it's very likely. IIRC dogs were brought out a few times during the searches. I just can't remember specifically about this search.

I've been reading a lot, can not remember which thread it was (hopefully someone else remembers this), but reading this thread made me think of something GMS had said.

In one of the interviews/or comments GMS stated, Ron left to be with HaLeigh, he needed to be alone (or something like that) - - -
my question is - - - is her statement before or after "the rose" incident and when she made this comment, did Ron live near this area? (meaning in the area of where the rose was)

I'm still trying to navigate my way around here so I'm really sorry I don't have a link and I have no Idea where I could even find it - (I'm hoping I will be able to link from different threads, but heck, I'm still trying to post properly)

Hope this makes sense and thanks for your patience, Ruby.

Welcome to Websleuths.

The "red rose" search was conducted on August 29, 2009 in a long narrow stretch of woods across the road from where RC lived at 202 Green Drive:

One of our members, GRANNYL, was part of the search team and details about the TES search are in this post:

The "wants to be alone with Haleigh" bit came from a TN interview at Christmas time a couple of months later.

Thank you Concerned Papa - it was TN and not GMS (I remembered someone saying it, just the wrong person) also a big Thank you to GRANNYL for all efforts and information.

I was just wondering/had a brain blip that maybe that's where Ron went.....?

I think I may give up on wondering and just wait to see what's next, and I hope that it is closure for all in need.

Which personality of misty's told them about the rose? This girl is koo koo for cocoa puffs!

About the rose, isn't rc the one that led the people to the rose?

Welcome aboard Ruby!

  • #159
Was the rose planted or laying on the ground?
Could it be another DECOY in this case to throw LE off AGAIN???

  • #160
Who do we know that has pets? The rose could have been where RC and MC or Tommy and Lindsy or somebody else in the neighborhood buried a hamster or something.
