The spokeswoman for Casey Anthony's defense team has resigned.

What new evidence?

Wait a minute - I might owe you an apology if I misunderstood you. And sorry if I did. But you mean you think THE DEFENSE has completed their evidence so they don't need her any more?:waitasec:

It is interesting that as the Prosecution develops its information that is a candidate to be used at trial, thus discoverable it gets released on a continual timely basis in batches.

However, the Defense has basically provided nothing to date -- neither anything to support TM's claims, a witness list, nothing!! Nada, Zip, Zilch.

Anyone feel like me that the Defense are going to hold off until the 11.99999999999th hour and dump everything they eventually and finally developed over the wall at the Prosecution? PR lady will be on vacation that week.

They can't release what they don't have- they're still fishing for someone to blame it on.

I am not sure a witness list is evidence.

As far as Caylee being placed at the dump site after Kc was in jail, I think they have already provided substantial evidence with witnesses that searched the area. Also with pointing the finger at Rk and his inconsistent statements. That may not be substantial enough for some, but it may qualify enough for the Judge. Anything else may fall under Attorney Client privledge.

I think only part of Dc interview was sealed. It may be something simple as an explanation of his Daughters sickness and the Judge agreed it had nothing to do with the case. I don't think Dc has anything new to say, but that is my opinion.

I just feel that MM may have been tired of all of it because there is nothing really new and substantial to talk about. Just speculation on my part. I am sure these spokes people come and go on a regular basis. Sometimes the President changes press secretaries a couple times a term.

I myself was very disapointed with todays doc dump. Didn't really see anything new. I was hoping to see RK's time card and route log. The only thing new that I saw today is that Wesh reported that sources close to the investigation now believe that the duct tape is the murder weapon. Heck thats old...IMO

O/T but I respectfully disagree. There are plenty of interesting items in the discovery, such as:

"Using a process called laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy, or LIBS, investigators from the University of Tennessee's Anthropological Research Facility concluded that the evidence from the trunk is consistent with a decompositional event of human origin."

http://www.wesh.com/news/22576899/detail.html

Maybe old news for the Defense but good news for the future jury. I think MM had plenty of work in her future but it was not in her future destiny....

<respectfully snipped>

What kind of privileged "evidence" do you mean? Something like KC saying to her lawyers, "I didn't put Caylee's body there. I checked and it was still where I left it before I returned to jail. Someone moved it." :waitasec:

Sorry I don't count JW's statements as substantial evidence. That and to my knowledge the only person that was even near to the exact spot was DC. So far we have yet to hear what his testimony is. Furthermore these "searches" prove nothing actually. Do you remember Elizabeth Olten? She was the girl that was killed in Missouri. Police and searchers were nearly right on top of her and missed her. It wasn't until the murderer came forward that the body was found.

The substantial evidence the defense needs to show is evidence that refutes the experts. It's going to be very hard to argue the botanical evidence of weeds and roots growing through the skull with nothing more then statements by JW. The defense also isn't actually attacking RK's statements they are attacking his character with *cough* less then reputable witnesses.

To me I don't actually see what this spokeswoman did. I don't recall her ever standing out front of the court house during the hearings fielding questions on JB and AL's behalf. I think the money is gone and the defense is trimming the fat personally.

imho

But here's a question I just posted on AZLawyer/Themis thread.

In the latest news bulletin Angel posted, there is an article stating the prosecution now believes duct tape was used as the murder weapon.

There is also a statement from RH, saying the placement of the duct tape is hugely important if it covered all airways, but also he is saying the defense had better be careful with how they present information re RK and the duct tape, because in essence they are admitting the duct tape was used (and in my mind I added as the murder weapon).

Love that boy!

Surely a media spokesperson would need to comment on something like this?

I think MM stepped down because she has been there for a year and there really is nothing to talk about. Without anything really new in the case, its time to move on. Al is probably more comfortable with a spokesperson that is close to her.

Ps Not sure why MM would fire off an email to KB if it was JB that provided the documents. IMO

So are you inferring that she was under a one year contract that has now expired and the decision was made not to renew it?

Just askin'.............

Too funny. It would take someone with a magic wand to put perfume on this pig as Nancy would say. I do love Mr. Hornsby's take on things and Mr. Shaeffer's too. The one thing they agree on is this case has been horribly mishandled....from jump!!!!! BILL SHEAFFER: Analysis Of Evidence Released 02/16/10

They don't need a PR person, they need a new lawyer and paralegal ......yesterday, imo. They need to regroup as if someone's life depended on it; because, it does.

It seems that there are two types of comments made by the Defense but they are usually sourced from JB, as follows:

Type 1: Propaganda: When the Defense wants to taint the future Jury pool with some premature revelation, e.g., RK's prior character.

Type 2: No Comment: When the Defense wants to not respond to a question and state they do not plan to discuss/try the case in the public and the media needs to wait until trial when compelling info will be shared.

IMO the above revelations would have received a Type 2 response from MM et al.

Baez's initial spokesman used an alias of "Todd Black."

Reporters were denied face-to-face interviews with "Black," who often ranted about news coverage in faxes sent to media outlets.

The company associated with "Todd Black," called Press Corps Media, eventually confirmed one of the people who called himself "Todd Black" was Gil Cabot.

Cabot was sentenced to five years in a California prison in 1990 after he was convicted of attempting to extort television journalist Jann Carl.

The JB team keeps good company huh?

Sounds like JB's mentor.

When Baez informed everybody he was centering is defense arguments around the phrase "whoever smelt it...dealt it", the other players in his group knew the show was over.

Sounds to me like AL is putting all of her usual people in place. Bet TM, if replaced, will also be replaced with someone that AL has worked with before.

JB - figurehead

AL - running the show behind the scenes - pay no attention to the woman behind the curtain.

you are right on the money!! AL is lining up all her peeps to have better control.... Watch out JB you may lose you job next :loser:

cyberborg if you don't mind, may I add a Type 3? My new, favorite word (thanks to Domino's commercials) is

Puffery: an exaggerated statement based on opinion, not fact.

A perfect example of puffery is TM's claim that the body was placed there after KC was in jail!

The spokeswoman for Casey Anthony's defense team has resigned.

Marti Mackenzie, who has spoken on behalf of defense attorney Jose Baez since February 2009, announced Tuesday she quit.

All media inquiries about Casey Anthony's defense are now to be directed to Liz Brown at the DePaul University College of Law Legal Clinic, where defense attorney Andrea Lyon works.

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news...place....FIGURES!!!! Wonder if she can spell!

I'll bite too, but my guess is not a popular one. I think this is going to get so down and dirty M.Lyons will step away from it all, not wanting to be tainted by the backsplash.
I'll bet she's already bought her bus ticket for a quick getaway when the time is right. This woman is a professional who is well respected in her field, even if we don't like her tactics. If half of what we suspect is coming down the pike, she will be going, going, gone.

You might be right! She got what she wanted...her book flashed on national media outlets.

When Baez did his depo of Kronk, I saw her tagging along with the defense.

last time I remember seeing or hearing from her, though.

Today was just the last straw. heh :)
Jeez...for a spokesperson she sure wasn't speaking much.

Tee hee...
