Despite finding this case very interesting and being thankful for the massive and compelling incriminating evidence
against JA, I’m finding it difficult to justify the time and, no doubt, hefty expense associated with this trial
and am increasingly wondering why a plea agreement couldn’t have been reached.

? LWOP + some decent art supplies ?

I realize JA has the right to a trial but really?!?
The only thing JA didn’t provide was a video tape of the murder
– maybe the camera just needed one more kick or drop?

Pass the Cheetohs please. :D

Sometimes it isnt about the money. It is about the brutality of the case and whoever does it whether man or woman they deserve death. If this case had a male defendant and a female victim it would be a death penalty case.

Plus very rarely will psychopaths agree to admit accountability. They truly feel they can fool everyone with their lies. Joesph Duncan's case was a slam dunk...including a running video of him continuously torturing and raping Dylan and Shasta and finally murdering Dylan. He refused to plea in Dylan's case. Good........they gave him death.

Also Juan Martinez is known not to plea cases this heinous and bargain with the devil.

They do not have death penalty cases often but when they do the state fully believes it is warranted, imo.

IMO

Do you think that's really her own work, other than the sig ?

Curious as to why it is signed "Arias" only, and there is no date. Probably being bought by a site that specializes in Murderabilia, or the seller is jacking the bid up trying to make the art look more valuable!

Scroll down and read David's comments about a 12 year old girl.

Never crossed anyone's mind that this child is a sex abuse victim and David is loving every minute? I want to report this. To whom can this be reported?

I am using good English with whom and not ending with a preposition.:lol::lol::lol:

To me whether she gets either one doesn't matter because she would most likely be there longer with DP than LWOP or just as long either way.
I don't know with LWOP doesn't she mingle with the jail population where she can become a star ? With the DP isn't she more alone and segregated?

If this case was with gender roles reversed we'd also not be seeing a preposterous self defense claim, Alyce LaViolette, if called, would be for the State and I bet jury selection would have been quite different. Everything about this trial would be different if genders were reversed.

In the last pic of Travis, where he is sitting in the stall with his arms out and over his knees is the point where I think Jodi came in right under his right arm and plunged he knife into his chest.

The angle of the stab wound was upward though

Here is just my take on the picture sequence. I believe he showed Jodi the door then maybe did a load of wash and headed for the shower.

5:27:18- "what? who's there? What are you doing?"

5:28:54- "oh, god, this will never end. I give up......."

5::29:20- "there! OK! I'm sitting!!! Are You happy NOW???"

5:30:30-just prior to first attack, whether gunshot or stab. Next pic is of the ceiling.

Sorry....nothing else to do on an icy Saturday afternoon........

The stab to the heart? I happened to just hear the ME being questioned by the DT about the angle, and he said if it was upward, it was very slight.

2nd case was a wrongful death case. the judge asked all prospective jurors during the voire dire if any of us would have difficulty putting a $$ amount on a human life. we all said YES we could do that.
when we began deliberating, the foreman asked each of us to write down the $$ amount we would assign on slips of paper. then he wrote all the
figures on the whiteboard. one person had not submitted a figure. then we had to go around the table and say which number was ours and why we chose it. when we got to this woman,
about the 3rd juror, to justify number figures, she said she didn't write one down & could not put a price on a human life. I IMMEDIATELY spoke up and
said i thought the foreman should send a note to the judge NOW and say this woman can not follow his instructions. the foreman wanted to give her a chance to be "persuaded". so we continued for 2 hours. still she could not decide. so i asked her "what would help you decide then?". I
was quite annoyed with her as were several other jurors. i asked her why did she not say she can't assign a number to a life when the judge asked her. she had no answer. she finally came around with a number but had i been the foreman i would have notified the judge and not wasted time with this juror.

Obviously she lied during voir dire so it would have been appropriate to send a note to the judge and I would think she would have been replaced by an alternate. I had a friend who was on a jury and one of the jurors admitted he lied and she sent a note to the judge. The judge asked to speak with her in his chambers without the other jurors being aware and the juror who lied was immediately replaced. This person was in the legal field so she knew it was wrong. I guess some people feel uncomfortable reporting other's but if jurors know it's wrong the court appreciates them reporting it. jmo

Under MM's friends list is a place where he can write things about himself... sort of a profile, but apparently other people can write things about him as well. This was posted in the area where a list of friends commented about him:

Jodi Says I am a:"a wellspring of generosity, a little eccentric, a true friend, a living testimony of unconditional love, and an occasional jerk, but always redeems himself! =)" "

Now, heres the interesting post. Underneath the area where his friends wrote things about him he has responses to them. Here is his response to a JW- I think its to her... maybe Jodi Waitress... or a nickname:

To JW,
You know I still love you, always will, but I am ****ing pissed at you! I have been pissed at you for years and I will continue to be pissed at you. Using your BS spiritual mumbo jubo to justify the emotional destruction you cause. Your selfish! I wish you would have just left me alone. Why don't I call you after all these years and tell you this? Because even after what you did to me, I still can't bare the thought of hurting you. On the other hand, you have the guts to come to my page so I guess your ready for it.

Hmmmm?!

ETA. what do ya'all think? I don't know anyone that makes that smiley face like Jodi's... she does it at the end of alot of her own myspace photos where she writes captions about the photos... like this =)

The angle of the stab wound was upward though

If she were creeping in toward him, knees bent, right arm swinging like a pendulum, that might give a slight upward thrust to the stab.

Do you think that's really her own work, other than the sig ?

I wondered the same thing. It is in Pennsylvania. Why would someone in PA have her art? Especially since there is someone in CA selling her art

JA's ex-boyfriend on the defense witness list

thats his myspace - jodi is a friend - ironic he says his occupation is ninja :what:

Right -- I don't think it's possible to get a slightly upward stab would from Jodi standing above and to the right of Travis sitting.

I don't know with LWOP doesn't she mingle with the jail population where she can become a star ? With the DP isn't she more alone and segregated?

With LWOP she gets to be more social in the system. With the DP, she's more isolated but gets to be a star outside the system.

I know a few things about this process as my sister's killers were sentenced to Death in AZ in 1990 and our family has been dragged through the appellate process for 23 years. The DP is NOT the preferred sentence in terms of impact on victims families. There is a momentary satisfaction knowing the worst of the worst got the worst of the worst sentence but that is short lived.

One of my sister's killers got off Death Row a couple of years ago because of a mental retardation claim. Jodi will also probably get this argued for her too with educated attorneys doing so with a straight face. It dragged our family through another mini trial and so much retraumatizing I can't even enumerate it here. Not to mention MILLIONS of taxpayer dollars.

Once on death row Jodi will receive some of the best legal assistance there is. Also at tax payer expense. She will have websites set up for her in Canada which request donations and correspondence. She will likely be married shortly after she's on DR. This is the furthest sentence from a "lock the door and throw away the key" there is. In fact, Jodi will have a far better chance of being RELEASED from prison on Death Row than if she gets LWOP. Simply because more people are fighting for her for much longer there.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to the DP for it's sake. I have no reason to see my sister's killers executed but I don't oppose it. I just know what that sentence does to families. So I have ambivalence about it.

I'll get off my soapbox now. I'll be ok with either sentence but my suspicion is she will in fact get the DP.

If the jury is DP certified, does that mean they all have agreed they could give DP?

Wow. I don't know. I think if I were Mr. MM I'd be worried that the first question from the jury would be...."Do you have an alibi for June 4, 2008?" jmo

But LEst we forget the ninjas story, she was on the floor down by the tub, next to the shower.. While the earlier pics look like they are taken at level, the later pics show they are still about level with him.....I think she crouched down to take those other shots and came up with the knife from about his level. If she used the gun first she would have been standing over him. Jmo
