I noticed that too with the one interview with one of his acquaintances.. he called it "the natural man"

he kept saying travis listened to his "natural man"

very interesting bodyfx (and welcome :rocker:)

That isn't just Mormon saying. It's the natural man that fights against his inner spiritual man.

it's the little red devil on one shoulder and the angel on the other. We all have had those same thoughts. Some you resit some, you don't. Doesn't make you a bad person.

Thanks for the great Welcome! :blushing:
I have been lurking and finally have a day off to be able to watch and respond.

Being raised a Jehovah's Witness, I 'get' the fact Mormons have their own words and phrases - though I don't understand their language, I do understand the conflict Travis was having and his need to keep quiet regarding Jodi PLUS why he did not go to police. If they are like JW's, it is very frowned upon and I was SOOO not supported when I charged (formally with police) my husband at the time, with 3 counts of assault. His side of the court room was loaded with 'supporters' of the faith and my side of the courtroom was BARE!...however, I won and he was charged :great:

Perhaps this is why this case in particular, has grabbed my attention to the degree it does. I ache for Lisa on that stand. She has to incure the judgement of the religion as well as trial observers - not to mention the defense taking apart an email - word by word. She is doing so well!

Another way of saying "The spirit is willing....the flesh is weak."

I sent an email to the address provided. I do not know the parties so, from the rules, it doesn't look like I need to be (or can be) verified.

that is for insiders... it is different for verified professionals... (re: to be verified as an atty)

you did good MA:rocker:

And there you have it. Seal comes back up, my children come back inside. Arguing about scooters and who isn't being nice. Sigh.

You do not have to know the parties to be a verified professional.

I agree that it does not matter whether Travis was gay or not. That is why I prefaced my original comment with, "Not that this matters even one tiny bit."

I just feel that Jodi is misplacing Travis as a pedofile, when really he may have just been bi-sexual.

Unfortunately, I can kind of relate to Jodi. I was in a relationship with a man that I felt was bi-sexual. I never had any proof. On the surface everything appeared normal. He would have had sex fives times a day if I could have handled it.

Like Jodi, I became hypervigilant to everything he said because I felt like he was not being honest with me. I also became very suspicious because of the gnawing feeling I had that he was hiding something from me.

Unlike Jodi, I broke up with him. It was very hard to do, but I did not want to go on living like that. I wanted to be in a relationship where I felt comfortable, not all tied up inside.

Hi, Lithloren. Thanks for these insights and your moving candor. One question: Why do people think that Travis was gay?

Question for the seasoned professionals on this board...could JA win on appeal for ineffective counsel due to the blubbering mess of a female DA?

Just curious....she was a hot mess!

She might have anticipated that Lisa would be with Travis in the middle of the night when she arrived. She came prepared to kill more than one person -- she killed Travis 3 or 4 times.

There was that one time Jodi sneaked in and watched Travis and a woman sleeping in the bean bag chairs in the loft.

From what I understand, basically, they are forced to represent JA. From the witnesses thus far, there is nothing that has helped and plenty that has hurt. To me, it seems the defense attorney keeps asking Lisa questions hoping there will be a meaningful reason for having her on the stand. I don't think she is going to find it.

I am of the Mormon faith and Lisa's email makes perfect sense to me. I cannot imagine trying to make this out to be an abuse case. This has got to be a painful process for the two defense attorneys who have a client who messed up the case before they even got it.

Now Gus, why he has been given so much time on the stand, I will never understand......

I think Gus Smarmy is a part of a narrative they are trying to build about JA becoming enchanted, enthralled, and entirely consumed by PPL.
Gus was way over the top with his descriptives and references about PPL. He missed the mark and it came off more as a "Shamwow" infomercial than planting "legendary" images in people's heads.

This was all I could come up with as far as why and how the defense thought they could use him.
