I've heard people here post about the family being "well-off" or "living well". Those terms can be rather subjective, but when I hear those terms, I do not think of the Bobo family. By all accounts they are an average, middle-class family. Both parents work. Holly's mother is a teacher. I've heard conflicting reports about whether the father owns his own tree-trimming business or if he is an employee. The families are members and by all accounts, very involved in their church. Both children seem to be doing what children from middle-class families do...graduate from high school, attend some sort of secondary education while perhaps work a part-time job. Although technically adults, both children still live at home with their parents. I believe that says a lot for the family dynamics of the Bobo family.
I think (like most of us), they're just doing the best they can with what they have.
