She lived vicariously through others and wanted what they had, both in achievement and possessions. She found Travis and thought she had hit the jackpot. When he finally rejected her and sent her packing back to Yreka, that was the beginning of the end for Travis. She couldn't stand what he had sent her back to. She thought she was above her grandparents' modest income and means. Yet they were the ones who opened their already cramped house to her. Then she stole from them.

MOO

She lived vicariously in her OWN mind I think. Half of what she says is how she'd like something to be rather than in any way what it is.

Well, technically he said it was "reported" by her brother. That doesn't mean he interviewed or met with the brother. For all we know, he heard about it from a facebook page or twitter. Or he simply pulled it out of his 🤬🤬🤬. More likely it was pulled out of JODI'S 🤬🤬🤬.

My take on it is that it was either a) recently fabricated, or b) fabricated BY JODI when she was 13. She is a drama queen, after all. I can easily imagine her coming home from school and breathlessly telling a story about being held at knifepoint, especially if she had hurt herself in some innocuous way such as a papercut or even someone saying something mean to her or about her at school.

While it's certainly possible that she was held at knifepoint at some point in her life, given her track record with knives, it would probably have been the other way around.

The statement that “JA was attacked at knifepoint at age of 13” should never have been allowed into evidence. It was pure hearsay. In fact the assertion was DOUBLE HEARSAY. There was NO foundation for that statement and that fact was NEVER mentioned on direct testimony. An expert should not be permitted to say “ I have read where somebody ie JA brother said that. . . “ and then add that statement to bolster the “expert testimony”

OUTRAGEOUS.

I heard on TV (so it must be true) that if evidence was presented that would justify a charge of 2nd degree or manslaughter, the defense can ask the judge to give the jury an instruction for a lesser charge.

Minor (our verified attorney here) said that she saw nothing so far that would be appropriate for 2nd degree. Manslaughter, yes. Ugh I hated even typing that. :what:

That group Jodi was trying to insinuate into didn't have a problem accepting new friends. It was the psychotic behavior that kept them at arms length away from her.

It wasn't Travis she wanted. It was what he represented.

If Jodi had used as much energy into making herself a better person as she put into trying to connive and scheme totake from everyone else, I honestly believe she could have accomplished a lot. What a waste of intelligence and talent.

No idea why but from what I've read, the "brother" has visited her in jail. So, make of it what you will.

moo

I believe they are defense witnesses.....friends of HERS, not his.

I thought the state had to offer a lesser charge. The defense has already asked to plead to 2nd degree

Exactly!
IMO They should have showed the Jury the photos of the stab wounds in his BACK- and said well there goes the self defense story - let's move on to Mitigation.
This is obscene.

They did. Katie DDJ said it was a very rough and emotional day when they showed it. The family was devastated.

Paperwing, would you mind sharing the story you guys are talking about?

Hey Frigga - sorry... I don't have a link! :( But I saw the woman who JA confronted on NG - which will be repeated an hour from now (I believe) on HLN.

And I've been corrected about the alcohol issue - JA confronted her the day after the incident involving alcohol. What she had to say was extremely compelling, imv.

If you have access to HLN, try to catch NG if for no other reason than this interview. I believe she also had some other guests (may have been JVM, I don't remember) who spoke about the all-guy surfing trip JA invited herself on, despite their efforts to get the message across that she wasn't welcome. She went anyway.

hth! :)

ETA: I posted (about 3 hours ago?) pages back with more detail about what (Clancy is her name - but I keep forgetting the rest of it, so sorry, Clancy!) said... you can search my name - or if I find it I'll post the post #. But you're better off watching her relay the incidents herself if you can...

I love JM brilliance! I get so tired of people criticizing him! The one that's more annoying is wilmott! Martinez is articulate!professional! If it was one of my family members ! I would want him to be their voice.
I don't like the defense! They are not prossionel! Jennifer wilmott is petulant! Rude and obnoxious!

I think a lot of people who criticize him, especially TH's, haven't watched the whole trial.

To the poster asking about "After Dark"...
10-2 AGAIN...

Yeah, sadly I only HAVE to admit to having monkey arms while online. IRL, it is patently obvious and not worthy of pointing out.

People usually just throw nanners my way......

Good point!
IMO not so far fetched for what we now know of JA's defense being ALL sex related including her grinning at every thought of reliving every moment of sex.. Remember how Flores was so calm and nice to JA? she Really believed she could talk her way out of this murder!
I also believe JA knew she was being watched or recorded in that interrogation room.. one other thing about the handstand; I read somewhere that you can break your neck that way.. would totally like to see the entire video tape since they are releasing it in sections; can't tell if handstand was Before or After her being hancuffed.. anyone know? TIA

Yes. The headstand was before cuffs, the hair flipping was after.

Well, that's fine with me. You have a right to your opinion, but if you're from St. Catharines, you know the missteps that happened in the PB/KH case. It's comparing apples to oranges. If everything went as it should, Karla would be serving a life sentence (at least 25 years). The only difference between Canada and the U.S. is the death penalty. Canada doesn't have that, but other than that, the systems are very similar.

The biggest difference I notice is the lack of media in Canadian trials. They still have to have the dude/dudette doing the courtroom sketches here. :) No photo/video allowed in the courtrooms here at all.

Ahh...sorry mods. Back on topic now
