TX - Austin Metcalf - 17 - fatally stabbed at track meet, 2 April 2025

Teen killer Karmelo Anthony receives parade of deliveries at family's $900k gated community home after crying poor to get out of jail

'He got a new car. If you look at the license plate, it's got a paper tag and it says it expires June 4,'

From your link:

"Andrew Anthony responded by saying the family didn't have access to the fundraising campaign because it was not initially started by them."

Well that's a complete lie. The GSG was started by Kala Hayes, the stepmother.

'Stand Your Ground' and 'Self-Defense' are prolly not going to work.
Wonder what K.A.'s defense is going to concoct ?
Imo.
I was listening to a lawyer yesterday discuss with another lawyer the self-defense garbage, and they essentially tossed it on the grounds that the risk of threat has to be commensurate with the self-defense action taken.

Basically saying the level of violence toward Austin Metcalf went FAR beyond any sort of self-defense.

This is utterly infuriating.

This is utterly infuriating.

It REALLY is  I've never seen anything like this before and its utterly disgusting that it's allowed to even happen! Literally makes me sick to my stomach to read about how this case is developing IN FAVOR of the attacker, murderer, every day. smh

From the quoted link:

Many of the family's neighbors didn't know the Anthonys lived among them until KA was released from jail and came home Monday.

'Richwoods,' as the exclusive community is called, is located within walking distance of Centennial High School, where Anthony ran track and was the captain of the football team before his arrest.

'Not good. Not good. I don't think he should be out.
I don't understand why he had a knife? My kids were in track. Your tents, for you school, you don't sit under another school's tent. That is NOT done because everyone leaves their stuff there while they're out on events,' the mom explained.
________

ETA: Local parent quoted above confirms my experience about the tents, and we learned last night from Court TV linked up thread that this stabbing by KA occurred during a rain delay at the District meet involving 8 schools and more than 100 participants.

I suppose next the defense will allege that it wasn't KA's knife! Right -- he pocketed the blade from the last tent he squatted -- or somebody planted the knife in his bag. He was reaching for his phone inside his bag and found the knife! A heat of passion defense... This is going to get much worse before Austin Metcalf receives justice. MOO

I'd like to know how Karmelo Anthony's dad got away with bold faced lying to the judge in the bond hearing.

It's PUBLIC knowledge the GSG was started by Kala Hayes, the stepmother of Karmelo Anthony. Her own name is right on the front page of the campaign, plain as stinking day. But his dad tells the judge he doesn't have access to the money to because it wasn't started by family. WHAT?

So you can just... straight up lie in court with no repercussions at all?

From what I've been reading In Texas, juveniles can be certified to stand trial as an adult if they are accused of serious crimes, such as murder or aggravated sexual assault. The decision to seek certification is up to the juvenile prosecutor handling the case and must be granted by a juvenile judge after a hearing.

IMO.. bad (using a polite word) judge.

The home — where rent is estimated to be $3,500 a month — had a white Suburban, a black Acura, and a third sedan in the driveway on Tuesday, according to the outlet.

A neighbor said the family had just bought a new ride.

“He got a new car,” the resident told the outlet. “If you look at the license plate, it’s got a paper tag and it says it expires June 4.”

<modsnip - quoted post was removed>

The Supreme Court ruling focused on the age of the defendant so it doesn't matter whether or not they are tried as adults.

On March 1, 2005, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that that the Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments forbid the execution of offenders who were younger than age 18 when the crime occurred. The vote was 5 – 4.

Many states took the ruling further by adopting no life without parole for minors under the age 18 when the crime occurred. Our state took it further, extending the age from 18 to younger than 21 -- citing the undeveloped brain studies...

IMO, KA's defense will consider this a win if they can get this down to 2nd degree where the typical sentence in TX ranges from 2 to 20 years. Sadly, if they can keep the money rolling in, he'll be out in less than 10. JMO

this info doesn't thrill me but the DM's headline is meant to further stoke the already hot flames of division this case is engulfed in. So I will simply say I am not surprised and keep it moving.

ETA and if death threats have been leveled against KA and his family a gated community would be a logical choice to house during this time. But now that neighbors have expressed their public displeasure and announced to the general public via DM where the family is how secure are they really? I look for them to move again soon.

That makes me so sad for Austin's twin and the rest of his family if this is what will occur :|

This financial BONANZA for the murderer needs to END.

It makes no sense but for their new and current shopping sprees!!

Agreed. I've just been finding whatever "newish" news/info I can learn.

Hey, we don't write the headlines, we just look for news. 🤷‍♀️ just pointing out the press bears some responsibility for how the public is behaving around this case. JMO
ITA , fanning the flames.. allot of them. I didn't even realize/think it would create a racial divide... until it DID. 🤨

I still sense there will be a plea deal. The chance of a hung jury seems high, because so many people are claiming "bullying/self defense."

All K. had to do is 1. Not bring a weapon to a track meet and 2. Use his words, any words, and walk away.

Instead some have normalized deadly violence as acceptable for this kind of dispute. If we do that, any of our families could be next.

The thing is, there has to be sufficient evidence for the "bullying/self-defense" defense, particularly proving the Anthony truly feared for his life to justify the use of DEADLY force. So far, the likely truth is NOT the false info being spread that Anthony was jumped and had his phone smashed, but that Austin asked him to leave and may have touched or pushed him after Anthony said "touch me and see what happens." That does not justify KILLING someone. My thought is that LE and prosecutors know there is zero evidence of Anthony being attacked, so absolutely will not accept a plea. Anthony better enjoy that sympathy and gifts he's getting for being a murdered while he can, because I see 25 to life in his very near future.
