Her defense is she reasonably believed she was in danger from the nearly naked burglar in HER home with her affirming she shot with intent to kill. IF a jury buys that she reasonably believed that was her home, they couldn't convict for murder 2.

Personally, I cannot see anything about her actions to be reasonable and she epically failed to assess the situation as a non-law enforcement officer and failed far greater than that as a trained and certified officer, off-duty or not.

It appears the Rangers bought her story ergo, the charge lesser than murder.

Keep in mind that the difference between manslaughter and murder is intent.

Yup more than aware. Thats why I made two theories because I am not sure which one to go with. I know many of y'all agree that once she shot him that it was intent. I personally think at court depending on which story she goes with, she's gonna use that to her advantage that it wasn't intentional.

My level of respect for the people of Texas is greatly reduced if that is true. It is unconstitutional to arrest people and intentionally delay perfecting their mittimus and setting bail.

It sounds to me like simply being arrested in Texas assures you will be incarcerated for some amount of time and possibly with bail amount not being set for many hours.

I can just about assure you AG's bail amount was determined before she arrived for booking. I'd be equally sure the FOP's bondsmen de jour knew the numbers as soon or before she arrived.

Yes. Bail is set at county jail.

All 9 held since Sunday night and no bond has been set as of around 7PM Monday, nearly 24 hours later. That's just plain wrong.

I wish there was a "That is Outrageous" button! This is absolutely criminal. Are we seriously back in the days before civil rights?! WTH? Texas...

How can I word this without being rude ?? She's only 30. I am 28 and most of my friends are around that age. She looks a little bit older to me and anytime someone looks older from my hometown especially, its due to drugs. Now she's either working her A** off and not getting enough sleep or ... ?? I am not trying to be rude, i'm just being honest.
1000% agree.

“Only in America do you get gather for a class B misdemeanor and sit in jail for two days,” said activist Dominique Alexander. “Only in America, can an officer kill someone and person can block a street and get more time than a killer.

The protesters in Dallas Monday say they are planning to go to Dallas City Hall Tuesday morning, as city leaders discuss giving police officers raises.

Only in America can you shoot someone more than once and still have your job. I would like to think that her first one was justified based on him stealing a taser, but now that I sit back and think about it, who knows if that's the truth. But 2 in less than 2 years? How do she still have her job? Now, I sit back and think, hmm..? BRB i'm gonna check this story out from 2017. What if this whole entire time she was scared of her own shadow and was a liability for the force. i'm really trying my hardest not to judge her based on her first shooting but man its hard to wonder what if ...

I will reserve judgment, but I have often wondered about women police officers, if they get a "pass" on things, that would get a man fired.

That being said, I have the utmost respect for women in positions in traditional male jobs. If, their ability is comparable to a man. It is when they get special treatment, with different expectations...

After all, this is a woman, who was so distracted or exhausted from a long day at work, she went into an apartment that did not belong to her. I wonder what things she has done at work...that no one brought up...

She could have some sort of physical problem, traumatic brain injury? Early onset Alzheimer's? Have there been other situations like this?

In other countries that have female LE, the criticism is that they are less likely to shoot, which to me is a good thing, but they are still criticised for it.

And in turn her credit is trashed and probably a lien against her buying anything else until she pays restitution. I can’t believe this pathetic excuse for a cop hasn’t even issued a statement or condolence. Show some empathy for f**** sake or at least improve your image by being candid and humble. For once. According to the IG, tough guy then and meek mouse now? SMH.

I guarantee she’s been told by her lawyers to say nothing. It’s a terrible shame. If any situation could use some genuine human behavior, it’s this one.

I really feel the protesters are hurting this cause. The constant reference to her being a police officer makes it harder to convict.

I can post links but check out the killing of Daniel Shaver. He was on the food crawling toward an officer beginning not to be killed when he was shot 5 times. There is video, if you can stomache it. Yet the jury acquitted.

Look at Thomas Kelly. Dear Lord they beat the man to death. He begged them to stop. Its the most disgusting 20 minute video you will ever see. Again, the officers involved were acquitted.

Pointing out that she was a police officer might help certain causes, but IMO it hurts the case against her.

(And yes, to avoid any racial discussion both Shaver and Kelly were white men).

I must agree. I have the impression that the prosecutor is trying to damage the case.

In the Shaver case, it was torture. Plain and simple torture. They had him crawling on his belly begging them and they killed him anyway.
