This is just so damn upsetting.
Is she an innocent who tried to get into her apartment and got scared that there was a male in her apartment, thereby unleashing lethal force?
This was a good and true man, murdered in his own home whilst doing absolutely nothing wrong.
The only thing that I have learned about this.. is NEVER open your door to anyone that you are not already expecting.

I never answer the door to anyone anyway.
Even if she thought it was her apartment, she's not an innocent.
You don't unleash lethal force when you get scared. You use it when your life is in danger.

Trigger happy people need to remember that the person on the other end of that gun matters too.
They have family, friends, people who want them to stay alive.
It is worth waiting a few extra seconds to assess the situation before you pull the trigger.
To make damn sure pulling the trigger is actually needed. If she had waited 30 seconds, she would have realized it was not needed.

I just can't imagine doing it that fast especially having only lived in the building for a month. Was she really that confident that she knew what she was doing? I just don't understand.

I have to say and as only a half American, that American police seem to lack training and are largely undisciplined shoot first, ask questions later.
We saw in that swatting case where they were telling the occupant to come out and as soon as he did, they shot him from across the street. He was innocent and unarmed too.

I stand by the cop. And I am a full American.

So what, in your opinion, did she do that was justified or in line with how officers are trained?

IMO she may have used her gun in self defense

That is neither here nor there. I have two passports, one is no better than the other. And you are not full American unless you are a native American. Your ancestors are the immigrants that you despise.

Defense of what? She was trying tot enter his home. I think that he had the right to self defence, not her.

Exactly. It is going to be ridiculous if anyone tries to argue this was self defense!
Someone tries to break into my house, I answer in my underwear and I get shot?
Yeah... that isn't self defense on their part.

She never even verified the number on the apartment.

Police rule #1, verify address, double check before engaging in any activity.

It is outrageous that she has not been charged, booked, processed, jailed, bail hearing. The panty exchange is the most, insightful moment of the process. At that point in time, you know that life will never be the same again. Jail underwear. And shower shoes. A definitive experience.

It is right and just that there be no rush to judgment. She probably had a very good reason to discharge her weapon. Cops receive immense amounts of training on this. She may have been threatened or assaulted. We just don't know at this point. But the cries of vindictiveness here on this thread remind me of the Salem Witch trials.

The neighbor earwitness heard scuffling, loud footsteps (an altercation?) … then a gunshot. Ambient noise tells us, self-defense. It is imperative that the word of law enforcement take precedence over all others when it comes to crime investigation.

Salem Witches never shot a man in cold blood, killed in his own home.

If this officer was trained to respond with lethal force in this situation, then the training needs major review and revision. She never looked at the number on the door? Never recognized that the red floor mat was not hers?!

Allison Jean, who has held government posts in St Lucia, where she lives and where her son grew up, said her son’s death “just feels like a nightmare”.

In St Lucia, government leaders said the death of Botham Jean came as a “shock” and that embassy officials in the US would provide assistance to the victim’s family.

Botham Jean attended Harding University in Arkansas and after graduating in 2016 had been living and working in Dallas at the accounting and consulting firm PwC. The private school said on Friday that he often led campus worship services while he was a student. Mother of black man killed by Dallas officer ponders role of race in shooting

Tragic encounter between Botham Jean and Dallas officer Amber Guyger: What we know
Mourners filled the pews of Dallas West Church of Christ as they gathered to remember 26-year-old Botham Jean. Family and friends still struggled to understand how the young accountant's life could be cut short late Thursday in a tragic encounter with off-duty Dallas police officer, Amber Guyger.

Jim, with all due respect, could you include a main stream media link to your statements or alert that they are your opinion only. Not sure how reliable your statements are and I've read everything in print so far.
