TX - Caesar & Adriana Coronado, 14, murdered, Katy, 12 March 2016

I get the impression that truck was already rigged up and ready to burn long before he parked it there. What does that mean ? It means the truck was taken somewhere like a garage or workshop and wired to ignite a flammable liquid electronically. Even an incendiary bomb needs a flammable component in order to make it work effectively. It would take a lot of time to rig all of that up.

When the driver exited the vehicle, all he had to do was push a button and KaBoooom, instant flash fire. That's exactly what you see happen in that 3 to 4 second lull between the brake lights dimming down and the flash of the fire. It may have been set off through a remote control, or the alarm button on the key ring. It wasn't done the old fashion way, with a match and a fluid soaked rag. There wasn't enough time elapsed to light it manually, and by time the main flash is seen, this guy was already running.

This isn't one of their neighbors behind this. This isn't a lovestruck teenager behind this. This isn't a spurned lover behind this.
The guys behind this are technically proficient and coordinated. All bad news for both Adriana and law enforcement.

So if you look at the time stamp, there is actually several minutes that pass from when he parks the car til he starts it on fire. It looks like the video was edited. He pulls in the spot at 22:20 and the fire begins at 22:26.

Re-cap so far (from my notes):

  • Investigation intensely underway
  • TES has joined this morning and is currently conducting a search at undisclosed location in Houston area
  • surveillance footage released today - POI seen running from the scene (in Houston area, where vehicle was burned, near I-45 and Enterprise Rd)
  • want public’s assistance in identifying individual running from one of the scenes
    • heavy set hispanic male
  • In response to reporter’s questions:
    • They do not know what father and daughter were doing so far away from their home
    • identified multiple scenes in houston area as well as other areas, can’t detail how that links together
    • not sure if she is out of the country
    • still waiting on info about cell phone, credit card usage, etc
    • No motive at this time, need public’s help with this
    • They have no reason to believe she’s not alive
    • They have filtered through many tips, none have played out
    • No ransom as of yet
    • Father does have prior criminal history in US and elsewhere, can not elaborate
    • Working with Mexican authorities

Great update. Thanks. This is the best list for now. A updated list such as this is what most sluethers dream about when following a case.

Especially because it's simple and plain without having to watch the news or read transcripts or whatever else.

A comment such as yours gives us the totality of the facts known at that particular moment.

Thank you Panda J

You're exactly right...good catch. That changes the equation. I really wish LE wouldn't do stuff like that.

It appears that he sat there for around 6 minutes between the brake lights going dim and the flash of the fire. That means it could have been manually lit very easily in that time frame.

The time in question jumps from 22:20:58 to 22:26:48 in the video. It was edited by law enforcement.
This may not be quite as sophisticated as I thought it was.

Now I'm left wondering why he sat in the truck for so long ?

BBM that is what is puzzling me. How do they know about the dark colored SUV? It is not seen in the video footage that has been released to the public. So do they have additional video they haven't released? Or an eyewitness who sees our unidentified POI in the area just beyond the video range getting into a vehicle of that description?

hmmmm

This is puzzling to me too. IF they have the dark-colored SUV on video, I would think they would want to release that to the public too, since it could be the getaway car and current car the suspects may have.

OY I agree. It fooled me as I watched it during the presser. Seemed so fast. Still 6 minutes and carrying accellerant is no spur of the moment rage incident.

Thanks for the raw link BTW.

I don't have a very good feeling about Adriana still being alive, and I hate to even type that. The presser today was very focused on identifying the POI running away from the scene and while I completely understand that, I guess I was hoping there would be more optimism for finding Adriana alive - like maybe showing her picture again and pleading with the public to help find her. Instead it was more about pleading with the public to find the POI. KWIM?

Also, I'm scared of the fact that TES is searching an undisclosed location in the Houston area. I really hope I'm wrong.

In the first video on post #45, the sheriff stated that Adriana was talking to someone at her dad's murder scene. I still wonder how they came to that conclusion.

You and me both. Luckily for all of us, they still haven't clarified it. I guess we're free to theorize.

Arguing? Trying to conceal evidence? Trying to find something to steal ? .... Ugh...... another option... torture ? :(
Where are you , Adriana ?

Having watched the video, I'm convinced that...

1. The perps are Mexican, and that guy is definitely in his 40-50s and not experienced. He was pretty clumsy.

2. The mom knows something.

3. Ariana is still alive.

  • #250
....sex trafficking.

  • #251
I think if I'm mom, I would stay put in Mexico too. I understand she can't travel as yet and it's probably the safest place for her right now. This appears very organized and unfortunately my head has gone to Cartel "business" as well. I think she may have some knowledge of what has gone down, but perhaps not the actual "who". I'm only guessing and not blaming mom. If I were her I'd be scared silly for my child and myself. Something very very bad has gone down here and I don't like where I think it's headed.

Adriana, get away if you can and run.

Arguing and torturing whom? I thought dad was already dead and 40 miles from the truck?

Is that so ? Then I misunderstood the post and did not see the video at all. Sorry about that.

Now I'm confused. Is the dad in the video? I must have missed something new.

Case Map

Did I get everything on there and in the right places? I think I got the car site spot on. If you look at the streetview you can see the CCTV cameras that caught the footage too (link within map)

  • #256
IIRC I thought the Sheriff said Adriana had spoke with someone "prior to the event". To me that could have been way before the murder took place. It was also stated Father and Daughter were seen at 1:00 a.m. sure wish we knew more about that 1:00 a.m. sighting

They picked him up on a second camera as well. It's the alley that runs next to the U-Haul. If you watch the second half of the video, you can see him walking right past a bunch of flatbed trailers, next to a wooden fence. You can see both the wooden fence and the trailers on your map if you zoom in tight. It is directly underneath the building marked as Executive Chefs' Supply.

That's the location he is seen in the second video, passing by that wooden fence.

Thanks Steelman I'll add that!

Edit: Added

That is so scary. I'm really worried Adriana is either being tortured, sex trafficked, or already dead. They aren't asking for ransom. They need to find her quick.
