Whoa, KA didn't pay her bus fare in Costa Rica?! I hadn't read that before. Wow. Why risk drawing attention to yourself when you're on the run for murder. SMH

SBM, BBM
That is extremely telling. Where did you get that info, I must have missed it.

BBM... This is the first I have heard about KA not paying her bus fare. Usually, doesn't one pay bus fare before the ride, or at the beginning of the ride, not after. It hardly seems likely that a fugitive, wily enough to skip out of the country and evade LE for as many days as she did, would be stupid enough to do something illegal, that may bring LE right to her, especially when we know she had the money to pay for the fare. Do you have a link to that information?
^^BBM
IMO, all we have is CS's word KA had access to funds. Witnesses say on the date of her arrest, KA was asking for advice on ways to economize and make her funds last.

Seems the Argentinians KA befriended on the bus thought the same about her brazen actions.

[..]

Five days earlier, authorities escalated the search for Armstrong by announcing an anonymous donor had offered $15,000 for information leading to her capture. That increased the total reward to $21,000.

But Armstrong appeared unfazed. The three men said she boarded the bus without paying, a risk that, had she been confronted, could have exposed her to law enforcement.

No longer a newcomer in town, Armstrong instead operated as a guide. She recommended to the men her favorite restaurants and a dance club, they said. After the bus arrived in Santa Teresa, Armstrong, up from her nap, used an online translator to help the Danish men communicate with a Spanish speaking cab driver.

Respectfully, boarding the bus without being seen paying, by three random guys, is hardly proof that she had not paid. She may have paid before boarding. And we have more than CS's word that KA had access to funds. LE knew that she sold her car for $12200 a day before leaving Austin. Until I see it stated by someone with the bus company, or until I hear LE say that she didn't pay, I will take the three Argentinians' story with a grain of salt. KA made lots of poor choices, but I dont believe she would have been so bold as to almost invite LE to come get her. JMO

They actually mentioned Jaco Beach and "other lodgings" where she used aliases. They didn't say she went directly to Santa Teresa, but they didn't say she didn't either. They referenced knowing the route the bus took from the airport and that's where they started their search.
^^bbm

True. Except for Santa Teresa being a 6-hour ride from the airport (versus Jaco at 2 hours). But I also recall authorities stating it was Jaco Beach where KA's story began to unravel -- leaving a variety of aliases behind.

Filla said that Armstrong had fled the country by way of Newark Liberty International Airport using a legitimate passport except that it belonged to someone “closely associated” with her.

Once she arrived in Costa Rica, she started her stay by taking a six-hour bus ride out of San Jose.

She was also using the aliases for her signature, and “that really started the trail of narrowing down a path on Kaitlin Armstrong,” Filla said.

Darn that PAYWALL. I was so ready to read all the deets!

You don't think she would ride without paying? I do. I'm beginning to clue in on her character a little, I think. Remember, she got herself on that yoga schedule.

And verification of the $450,000, what it was for & where it went would put CS in the clear so he should offer it up. Bet he won't though.

Getting yourself on the yoga schedule at some retreat, and flagrantly breaking the law and inviting arrest while being a fugitive wanted for murder are miles apart. No I do not believe she would RISK riding without paying. I think if the driver offered to let her, sure, but to be brazen enough to get on and try to ride without paying, I just don't think so. Unless 2 things:

1. She has a compulsive, risk-taking criminal character (I’ve both read about such types and known a couple in real life. It’s staggering to see what they’ll do even though the stakes are massively high)

2. They were being lax about payment on the bus— allowing some to pay on board and she got missed and said nothing.

Never mind we're talking about a woman who by all accounts, entered a private residence where she allegedly shot a woman in the head and torso in cold blood, carried the victim's bicycle down a flight of stairs, tossed it the bicycle, where she could have met up face to face with the resident host at any moment, and fled the scene in her own vehicle --well yeah, I don't doubt she'd risk hoping a bus without paying bus fare!

AND also has a history of using services without payment!

What was Kaitlin's alibi for that night? I don't believe we've read any such thing about it. SURELY when LE interviewed her, they would have asked where she was. Maybe she lied and said she was at home, and then they told her her vehicle was seen prowling around Cash's neighborhood and she froze. I don't know. But why have we not read what she told them she was doing that night? Did she have a grandiose lie, like, "I was out for a long walk, got home at 10pm, maybe gone 3 hours"? Just is odd to me that there have been no media reports since day one on what she told them she was doing.

It’s possible that she has lowered inhibitions. @SteveP is thinking of what he, a logical and normally inhibited person would never risk.

I submit that although we don’t know that the guys on the bus are really certain she rode without paying, it’s possible because of who we’re dealing with.

From personal experience, I’ve seen a female relative take risks which could have and should have fully destroyed her professionally and legally — and nearly did. They went above and beyond anything I would ever dare to do in my wildest dreams, and some were done repeatedly.

She won't get away with not paying for her noodles at the commissary. She'll try though.

As for Costa Rica, she was in another country, in Central America....probably figured no one would know, new names, new face, new hair. Home free this arrogant sociopathic killer thought to herself, new life on the beach, in the tropics.

May she rot in prison, while losing her mind in a concrete cell.

Crucial clues show Kaitlin Armstrong WANTED to be found after going on run for love triangle ‘murder’, friend says

From the AA, other than non-verbal gestures, KA made very few comments-- including no denials, when interviewed by investigators:

Respectfully, I don't agree they are miles apart.

We're not talking about robbing a bank. A smile, some flattery. I think she was well-versed in fitting in wherever she is in another culture. A skill she no doubt picked up in her international travel adventures.

Now that more of her contact with locals is coming out, I think she may have felt less stressed in CR than stateside, despite being on the run. She was in a comfort zone.

She even held back her real name from CR authorities for six hours after being detained. I think that's a pretty cool customer.

Do I agree with her attitude & actions? No. But KA doesn't think like me. Someone mentioned entitlement. But I think it's more than that.

The armchair psychiatrist will take down her shingle now :)

YMMV

That actually begs the question--do we have any idea when KA started biking? We talked about how she is a bit of a chameleon. Does anyone know if she had any interest in it prior to meeting CS or is it another aspect of his life that she took on?
Kaitlin Armstrong has racing history that began in 2021. We haven't heard much about her life prior to CS.

Perhaps you are right. I just think if she was as stupid and boldly reckless as some believe, there is no way she would have remained free for 43 days. I certainly do not defend any of her horrid actions, and hope she spends the rest of her life behind bars. JMO

Well she did enter another country with someone else’s passport. IMO not paying for bus fare, like not paying for Botox doesn’t seem beneath her.
