Waco-Twin-Peaks-Releases-Statement

The Sunday afternoon event at the Waco restaurant was not a Bike Night. The Sunday event was a regular patio reservation made by a female customer who has been to the restaurant previously.
• The last Bike Night had taken place at the restaurant last Thursday, May 14, without incident. The Waco restaurant has hosted seven Bike Nights since last fall (four this spring) without altercations such as this. Twin Peaks, as a brand, has hosted many community-oriented Bike Nights, not only in Waco, but throughout the country in other locations, as do many other restaurants and organizations.
• We verified with the Twin Peaks franchisor that no one from law enforcement ever told them we should consider canceling the reservation that was booked for our patio on May 17 (or the biker night on Thursday the 14th).
• Our restaurant general manager and two franchisee operators spoke with law enforcement officials on several occasions before May 17. Contrary to what is being widely reported, as best as we can determine at this time, no one from law enforcement ever told them to cancel the Sunday patio reservation.
• Ensuring the safety of our patrons and employees is our number one priority.
• We are working with a third party video surveillance vendor to provide restaurant video footage in a format requested by law enforcement.
• We have set up a process for counseling for our employees. We are in the process of gathering additional facts, and urge that people avoid rushing to judgment before those facts are fully known.

I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop, maybe memorial day. I wish they had easier names to pronounce like habanero or sphincter. The tweets are rough, lots of race baiting.

I would think that "Habanero Sphincter" is an apt description of most in biker gangs. It doesn't bring a very pretty picture to mind does it.

All those mugshots did anyone see a scratch or bruse anything?
I would think at least one would have got punched.

It's calming down some.
Anyone have a need for a Harley in a year or two? Lots of seized bikes.

I read a partial list of the arrested - saw 7 females.

Unsubstantiated rumors of groups hiding out in the rural areas in Bosque County (county directly north of McLennan), until things die down a little...then they will be back. Local LE a little pleased we are still getting rain, as that does put a damper of numbers, normally. A little worried about Memorial Day weekend.

That section of the mall is still closed today. Eeek. Poor retail stores and employees. Stores involved would be Best Buy, Cabela's, Office Depot, there's a new Jo-Ann Fabrics, Pier 1...I'm missing one or two, can't recall. And Don Carlos Restaurant. I am actually a little surprised that entire section is still closed today.

Not much else for now. You guys are getting some of the good links (above). Thanks! :blushing:

Oh.My.Goodness

CNN, really? Trying to make more of an issue than there already is?!

I noted yesterday in my little local LE post, that the one person I talked to that DID work the processing at the convention center, said INS was there, and they processed approximately a dozen ILLEGALS...yes, I mean Mexicans here illegally. Maybe I should send that tidbit to CNN so they feel better, that not all arrested were of "white priviledge?" Oh wait, if you didn't know, when we book/arrest/convict people, in NCIC, they're all classified as "W." We do not have an option for "H" Hispanic or "M" Mexican. Just FYI.

Yes, well, it's worse than that. Not only do we record Hispanic perps as white, but when they're the victims they're recorded as Hispanic. There is an option for that for the victims.

ETA: Clarification: That's apparently for hate crimes only, as far as I can tell.

ETA2: Nope, it's in general.

ETA3: Maybe I have it right this time! The FBI started tracking Hispanic hate crime offenders separately for the first time in 2013:

Watching on the wdbj7.com website.

I like how the officer repeats the question ask by the reporters, before he answers.
I hate when they have news briefings and you can not hear question.

I'm glad to see they do have a H category for hate crimes. They must collect that data from other sources.

We don't have that option in NCIC for arrest/booking data in our federal LE agency and our systems, or our local jails. Our system was upgraded in 2014. And at least as of current, when I run someone's criminal history, I have never seen a H. Then again, we have never dealt with hate crimes, specifically.

In our work, NOT having a H category has made our jobs more difficult, especially when dealing with suspect descriptors. I think the whole issue is race vs nationalit

After doing some research into it, I'm totally confused. It appears that Hispanic is tracked when it suits, and Hispanic is classified as white when it suits. If I were more naive, I wouldn't understand why.
