You photograph it you log its location and you fingerprint and DNA it.

@Vixey are you sure the litter is an Embassy cigarette packet? I tried checking the screenshot you posted out its from Google street walk 2008 isnt it.. but I cant see it looks like an Embassy cigarette packet.. Do you have a clear shot of it at all?

We know the police initially missed the cigarette butt in CL's car.
We have never been told wether they searched the area on melrosegate bridge where she was seen to be talking to a left handed smoker for a disguarded cigarette butt.
With that in mind did they also miss the opportunity to collect cigarette butts/packets or even discarded chewing gum and litter from the pavements outside of her house these might provide vital clues of people who may have been outside her house on the days leading up to her disappearance or the evening of the 18th and morning of the 19th

It was a few months back when I looked at this and yes if I remember there’s a board advertising the band playing Saturday outside the nags head , and I dated the time closer that way! To me it looked like embassy regal but for all I know there could be someone selling cheap cigarettes etc around the local pubs. Just noticed the box and wondered. There was I think possibly by Dai himself a suggestion of a possible connection to that cigarette and someone at the garage where Claudias car was being repaired.again only what I have read.

@Vixey Bear in mind that an empty packet of cigs could easily have been carried there by the wind. I find all sorts outside my front door sometimes...

Very true it’s possible, there’s a cigarette butt also present in the ss so just wondered if indeed it was embassy regal then just perhaps the identity of the person who left the cigarette in Claudia is a person who was around Claudia and close x

No I believe it was established that non of the garage staff smoked the cig found on her car

Thats interesting @Vixey as I havent heard that before could you post the link to that as I have been trying to find info about which garage's CL's car was in for repair at and the people who worked there Im curious as to why no details of this appears to have surfaced over the years.

Yes and the cig butt was one of the dna samples the police were looking for in the unsuccessful familial dna search !

It would be interesting to know if cig dna / finger prints match with any found in her house?
If there is a match this would probably exclude the possibility of her passenger being a hitchhiker .
If there is a match ie he was in her car also in her house and does far they don’t have a name for him, it would be reasonable to assume they belong to the mystery boyfriend .
This is proof to me at least that David ( and Claudia ) were telling the truth re mystery person.
DW was told she had a new boyfriend .
Were the police given other names does far not mentioned in public ?
I think identifying the mystery person is paramount.
This is not to say he is a complete mystery to one or more of her friends or admirers!

I think the whole question of. Claudius mystery boyfriend is a minefield.

I think its better just to acknowledge that someone had been inher house and we dont know who that is....he may have been a boyfriend, it may have been someone who was. doing a job there, someone she was doing some shady work for or a lame duck...male or female...who just wanted a cup of coffee and someone to talk to.

Fair enough but as Yozzer said the police want names ! They in turn can ask the named persons for dna/fingerprints samples

if you remember, she said shed had a dream about claudia, who said it had all become too much...I think thats the key..and. I think its what kir was saying...I suspect the catalyst was something that happened at that big weekend at the nags and there were lots of reasons why they all decided claudia was just too dangerous for them....I dont know to what extent jealous boyfriends or their partners played a role

If something big happened that weekend surely the police would have gotten wind of it or by now ?
