Interesting ........ or in another country even, as it seems.

Do you think she could be in a witness protection programme or similar? Even with all the publicity surrounding her disappearance?I think these suggest she is
There was a gentleman from York who had gone to live at Hartlepool who contacted Joan Lawrence to say he was convinced he saw Claudia down by the Marina he recognised her from living in York. He also told her there were boats going to Amsterdam daily.
There was a sighting of her in Amsterdam by a private detective. Personally I think this person could have been a member of the security services
The fact her parents steadfastly believe she could still be alive as far as Im aware no 'declaration of presumed death' has ever been applied for. Her Heworth Road home has never been sold.
Personally I think it was the person she was with that was the target.

well, that would depend on someone spotting her and they haven't. Could always change her appearance and/or another country.I hope not as it isn’t a very successful one of her face is constantly plastered all over the press...
I don’t think witness protection schemes stretch to other countries (as far as I’m aware)well, that would depend on someone spotting her and they haven't. Could always change her appearance and/or another country.
But then wouldn't someone have to be convicted on any evidence she gave, she would at least have to appeared in court at some timewell, that would depend on someone spotting her and they haven't. Could always change her appearance and/or another country.
Good point! Though I suppose it could depend on the 'target'. I think you are right though, witness protection unlikely.I don’t think witness protection schemes stretch to other countries (as far as I’m aware)
Thanks, I never noticed it was a link. I'd not make a very good sleuth. It's a link to Missing or Murdered.
Alternative plot twist: husband tells wife he's off to work his night shift, and spends night at CL's home.Lots of reasons, where's there a will, there's a way. I'm following a case at the moment, where the mistress was killed and it was said in court that they met up at the mistress's house whilst the husband was at work. I know that this is an overnighter, but it can still be done.
Or they are still married on paper but they actually lead separate livesAlternative plot twist: husband tells wife he's off to work his night shift, and spends night at CL's home.
That makes me think about a French ‘custom’ Cinq à sept - Wikipedia , i.e. traditional pre-dinner sex with mistressI know of a male who used to go to work early (super early) to carry on an affair with a woman. He would go early so as not detected. Could well be that this was a confrontation like you describe. But surely the day does matter? If it was Weds then Thurs was planned.

or perhaps the wife is a police officer?Like a policeman maybe![]()
Re no 5This is a valid question but I think it got far too complicated in the end.
Tracing the movements after the disappearance is key to unraveling into whose hands she fell.
Was her disappearance coordinated by a criminal group who set out to kidnap the person she was with.. or were the events intercepted by security services which was an added complication when it was found that Claudia had been abducted too.
Criminal kidnapping of a specific target is quite straight forward its for ransom and the criminals who are usually kidnapped have status negotiations are kept within the criminal fraternity.
Things must have become very complicated when Claudia was abducted too.
I think its been somewhat overlooked why Ray Galloway headed up the first investigation.
He was a fully accredited Senior Investigating Officer with a breadth of experience in the investigation of homicide, organised crime and covert operations. He is also a trained and experienced Hostage Negotiator.
His roles in the police service include those of Head of Major Crime, Head of Serious and Organised Crime and Director of Intelligence. He was the Kidnap and Extortion Champion for North Yorkshire and a member of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO)
So whose hands did CL fall into?
1. 2 search dogs had traced her scent to the waters edge in York was the abduction by motor boat via Yorks waterways to Hartlepool Marina.
2. A sighting of her in Hartlepool marina by a man who who had previously known her from when he lived in York and advised told her mother that boats left for Amsterdam daily.
3. A private detective saw her Amsterdam.
4. Why did sex traffiking to Amsterdam come up.
5. Why after 5/6 weeks did the police announce they were now treating the case of suspected murder.
1. This could explain why the officer in charge didnt move the search down stream.
2. Why would this man mention Amsterdam did he hear or see something that led him to believe CL was on a boat heading there.
3. Was this private detective really a security/intelligence officer
4. An unsettling possiblity but given the activities of certain criminals and the way they deal with certain people I dont discount it. Certainly a comment by one of the females she knew..I hope shes not suffering... we can put her back together. suggests there may have been some possibilty of this kind of trade.
5. Was the reason for this that the male turn up dead!...
did CL's negotiations break down when this happened or did they ever get off the ground.
With much respect :
Re Galloway : you are quoting his CV hmm !
I would take it with a pinch of salt .
