She did not have use of her car for weeks .That is not to say she did not have use of other cars ie her father’s possibly weekends and or when he went abroad.
More pertinent questions to me: was her car towed to the garage? Was it AA or RAC ?
Was she alone at the time ie was the cig smoker with her then ?
Did this ‘smoker’ ever enter her father’s car?
And possibly even leaving a ‘fresher’ sample of DNA in there?
Bearing in mind there is no crime scene and police were looking for a missing woman in the beginning !

Again please show me that the link that says she did not have use of her car for weeks.
Show me the link that says her car broke down.
Show me the link that her car had broken down numerous times.
Show me the link that it was in the garage for and engine replacement.
With respect a lot of what you are stating does not have official confirmation and you are stating what you 'believe' and not providing links to substantiate this which only seeks to confuse.
If Joan who was in regular contact with Claudia says she had been walking to work in the days leading up to her disappearance then I would be inclined to accept this.

Can I respectfully ask you do you have links to substaniate the first 4 questions .. A simple yes or no will do

I have been trying to find the locations of police pounds for seized vehicles for seized vehicles in York.. do you know if any of these compounds are located in Layerthorpe?

NYP vehicle recovery unit is in Thirsk, not York Operations & other roads policing - North Yorkshire Police I’m not aware of any NYP land/premises in Layerthorpe.

As for places where CL’s car could have been when she disappeared, you’ll see a few possible places if you google ‘car mechanic layerthorpe’ and then click on ‘maps’. The largest would be Halfords, which I’m sure was there 12 years ago. I don’t know about the other garages.

Yes I have done the car repairer garage Layerthorpe before which interestingly bought up 2 in Mansfield Rd which was in the same road as the Horwells yard interesting one of the owners of those garage's had a striking resemblence to Christopher Halliwell.
but Im interested to know if the NYP had a vehicle pound in the layerthorpe or where this facility is that stores Claudia's car

Its interesting that although they gathered DNA and her dental details she could not be traced. Distributing her image through the National Crime Agency to Europol also drew a blank.
The Council said in 20 years they have never come across an unnamed person in those circumstances.
I noted she was wearing a possibly french made necklace unfortunately no details of maker so I havent been able to follow that through.
The oddest comment in that article to me was There is the trace of a smile on her lips
something that I would associate with photos Ive seen of Claudia
No mention of her height tho

If she was in such a scheme, then the police going on crimewatch and saying she led a complicated life that family and friends will be unaware of effectively threatens to ‘out’ her which is against the law and against the point of the protection scheme. It just wouldn’t happen.
