@Popejohn3 It would be difficult to determine the number of people in attendance, but yes 2 is feasible or perhaps even more.

What we do know is that one of the staff at Nags had left for holiday abroad that day.
This staff member used to have a room above the Pub and so if there was an opportunity for as few people as possible to be in occupancy and be aware of Claudia staying in one of rooms, then this would be an ideal opportunity to do so.

Rooms were also accessible by the metal fire escape from the car park as I previously mention and so it is possible that she could have stayed without Landlords consent or even if there was a "blind eye" turned ?

I do hope that Claudia was not pushed or did not fall from fire escape and was a friends (J_K) reference to "Gone before she hit the ground" telling here?

I cannot post verbatim what was said on Social Media here, however there was reference by the staff member returning from holiday and him being very annoyed and upset about something upon his return??

So upset that he was looking for another job and as we know he eventually left to run a pub of his own at Stockton in the fields.

One of the joint landlords (G_F) also left the Nags at a future date.

Re ruck sack / scarf and shoe seen near the uni :
I would have thought these were Claudia’s .
If it was some other owner it would probably be a uni student and I’m positive the news that Claudia went missing would have spread through the uni like a forest fire and the owner would have contacted the police.
And if one agrees one should try and account for them in any theory of what might have happened that day .

@Popejohn3 It is also possible that this rucksack sighting didn't exist as if someone had found it, why would they not hand it in. Even if they had procured some of the contents, no one could prove that they had taken any of said items when questioned?

Why would this person bring them into the nags head on Friday to Jim ? who connected these items together with Claudia so soon x

I thought the customer had referred to seeing them but not having them on their person.
Happy to be corrected if I am wrong.

Of course J_M the Nags staff member could have been told to make this story up.

Vixey mentioned the drayman if you read post I was was merely enquiring if Vixey thought he was the person who went into the NH with the pictures.

As I understand the Claudia’s story was being told ( and heard ) in dribs and drabs.
The guy must have heard about the missing girl and her rucksack and he goes ‘actually I’ve just seen a similar rucksack ‘
Often people pick up such items and put them on a wall or hung on a branch for the owner to return...

Well the person had at least images and connected items back to the nags head pub, it happened or jim has made it up.Not sure if I can’t post the comment, however Jim melsom describes where the drayman lives on his post. Next door to quartz travel with wife trish x

No I for one would not have looked inside ( unless I was site security ) but perhaps put it on a wall or somewhere out of the way the owner is sure to come back for them.

I agree @Vixey this man connected these items to th NH and chose to go there where most people would have contacted the police. Jim may have made up the story about the man but why as just the mention of this incident would draw attention to the NH which must have caused increased police interest and interviews with people at the pub about it. Whereas a made up story is meant to do the opposite.

Why wasnt a discription of this man made public surely it would be in NYP's interest to try and find him.

Glad you posted this ... I could not remember where I read about these items .
I think even police are surprised about information that is out there when they think it’s not public knowledge !
It’s an impossible task for them !

Did the NH have cctv inside the pub but that it was not in operation for the same reasons as the rear car park ones were I wonder.
On the other hand the owner of the Acomb PH says in this York Press acrticle dated 2006 that they spent £1,500 installing CCTV cameras throughout the pub to deter troublemakers and now support a number of sports teams, including York City Ladies FC.
So the police should have had plenty of footage at that location. Bearing in mind that was still in operation too in 2009 of course.

@Popejohn3 If she accessed the fire escape through the Nags car park she could minimise the risk of being seen if she made this route from the back door of her house.
She would have bypased any cctv cameras.

@Officer Dibble If Claudia did not return home on that afternoon but went to stay with someone in a room above Nags Head, she could have been ushered out the back door or even the metal fire escape and into a car that could be seen to have been driven into the car park innocuously by a Pub user and whisked away somewhere else at any time from c15:00 or later on18th March.

What if...she was with someone in above place and had a sort of more serious Lesley Ash type bedroom accident then someone wanted to cover up this accident for fear of being exposed. An accidental death then a cover up? I'd not thought of it like this before so just supposing on top of your supposition. JMO

If your room and bed had been used whilst you were on holiday you would be seriously naffed off too. Just supposing. JMO
