I worked for local authority and we didn't get our whites laundered. Think about it, £1000s a month in costs.
Not very stuff friendly, bad service, in my eyes. Shift-work all the way AND also cleaning/poss. ironing the chef whites?! I wouldn't like to get the job. :p

NOT married. Made the poor man more suspicious than all the others? ;)
Hope it was a little more to go on than that :) No Idea but imo so many searches at both addresses and to take his car and seal off his home then dig up the slabs behind his garage etc etc. There must be a reason of some kind x

Did CL ever give a lift to her colleagues, when her car was still intact?
Jill Rainton said Claudia would give a lift to a older man from the acomb. Never said who x

Catering sector is renowned for it though, never has been the best of careers.
Obviously it was the chosen line of work for Claudia so she was doing something she wanted to do. I think she must have been on a resonable wage in order to get a mortgage on house. I'm sure I saw it was valued at £188000 when she purchased it?

O/T March 2009 - I don't know, what to think about it .....

Missing man John Burlinson may be in York

Missing blind fitter, 51, clues pointing to Acomb area, creepy messages before missing, rental car: black Vauxhall Astra SRi, registration NC58 GUF, and so on .....

The man was found:
Missing father back home with family

He added: "Mr Burlinson contacted his partner to let her know he was fit and well then he contacted us.

"When he got back to his home address our staff visited him because obviously we were concerned as to his welfare."

Mr Burlinson was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital for checks as a precaution.

@FromGermany This is an interesting find and a possible new angle.
Perhaps it explains why when Claudia a 35 year Old woman with no previous (That we know of) altercations or threats from anyone, was reported as missing, that the NYP immediately jump to action. It was always alleged that this was because she was from a middle class family and her dad was a solicitor who pressed for action.

There is quite a coincidence here:

Last signal in Acomb-Police had not yet identified this for Claudia
ATM activity in this area
  • He was supposed to be in Leeds some 42 minutes from Acomb
  • He had hired a car especially for the trip
  • He was reported missing on Thursday 19th March and Claudia on Friday 20th March-NYP dealing with 2 missing persons

I don't believe in coincidences.

The more that you look into his missing incident it is discovered that he is texting his partner at around mid-day on 19th March with disturbing messages, disturbing enough for her to alert Police and for Police to start searching.
Claudia's phone is turned off at 12:10 on the same day??

  • Does he hire a car to stay under the radar or be less obvious than driving a trade liveried van
  • Did he receive a cry for help early in the morning from someone in danger or someone who had done something wrong?
  • He hires a fast version of a rental car SRI. Is this to get to where he needs to be more quickly (Trade vans are restricted to lower speeds than private cars)
  • When he contacts his partner on Saturday at around 12 noon to let her know he is alive (48 Hours Later)
  • What has he been up to for 2 full days?
But perhaps the most interesting part of this case for me is that he then takes 9 hours (12 noon to 9pm) to arrive back home in Aycliffe?

Where was he not only for 2 Days
What was the reason that it took him 9 Hours to return home after contacting his partner (A 1 Hour Journey)
Did he have a long distance to travel and from where?
Why did Police upon his return believe that he should have a hospital check up?
Did he have defence wounds or even wounds from violence inflicted upon him

At one point I wanted to dismiss JB as a possible link, most likely because you would expect NYP to delve into this case and see if there was a link with Claudia. However, even if they did, he may well have had a cover story and whilst he may not have been directly involved, he could have been caught in the cross fire and ended up messing with the so called "Community" that many were warned off about.

My final thought is this-Claudia had blinds inside her curtains and did they need fixing?

I have been looking back at snelling and early suggestion he was indeed breaking focus. wonder why his house was searched so early on, home sealed up and car seized, then further searches and his mother’s also. Then arrested on suspicion of murder Why and what do police know on him. Read on here back at the beginning he had a plenty of fish account, was that true ? why is snelling steered away from on groups x

@Vixey Snelling seems to be the only person arrested by NYP to have had to move from the area.
As you say his house today stands empty and boarded up almost as if he is a Fred West?
It is quite possible that he was "Fitted Up2 by others.

NYP may have felt that he had matched the profile:

Single and lived on his own
Mother in a care home on Tyneside and he returns to stay in her empty home at weekends (To follow his Football Team, Newcastle United-Geordie Mick)
Drank in Nags
Gave her lifts
Worked at UNI and as @Yozzer mentions he may have started early on the promise of a "Fry Up"

But he appears no longer to be a suspect.
He changes his job
He moves away from York
His House almost a seedy shrine

Clearly some believe that he is involved in some way and perhaps he was an easy target.

But did he move away because he rightly refused to take the wrap for others and was he another in fear of the ""Community"
Or
Was he already known to police for another reason?

Yes, I wonder why he needed to be at work at 6am.
Perhaps he was infatuated by her and getting up early to share her company on the way to work for a lonely guy was a price worth paying?

We didn't see a collection of chef whites in her closet at home ..... If she had to clean them by herself, she would have had x of them. If she hadn't to clean them, she didn't need to take them home.
Thye may have been in her laundry basket @FromGermany

Possibly @FromGermany And perhaps that is why NYP are trying to track down the Male smoker (DNA) who left an Embassy Regal cigarette Butt in her car.

And his and DO’s cars would have been checked as well as many others .
People should be asking who was she seeing Monday night Tuesday night and Wednesday night ?
Was she seeing anyone on Monday or Tuesday night or was she home alone and out of embarrassment avoiding others?
We only have DO with his late confession that suggests she was with anyone else.

Midweek, good chance there was whites in the rucksack. I'm sure her work locker would have been looked at by the police. Either way, the rucksack she used for work is missing and hasn't been found...yet.
I always wonder why there is so much fuss about Caudias Rucksack missing and her phone.
The rucksack may well have carried something incriminating at some point or even DNA of someone else and like the phone and even her Body (If she is dead) would point to either others involved in a crime or the culprit.

My take on the Rucksack is that it suggests she was not at home when she met her fate, possibly in the Acomb area and all of her belongings were taken along with her and put in one nice neat place.
Perhaps a long way from York and an area that was never searched

Possibly @FromGermany And perhaps that is why NYP are trying to track down the Male smoker (DNA) who left an Embassy Regal cigarette Butt in her car.
Imo due to the embassy packet and butt at her door prior, this is someone well known to Claudia x

I agree, the missing rucksack indicates she either spent the night elsewhere or was on her way to work early morning.
Can't imagine someone would think to remove the rucksack from her home to cause smokescreans.

But not necessarily known to her family and friends .

Maybe, but not all of them, I think. Otherwise I woudn't know, how CL managed to have a clean outfit ready. By the way, I don't know anyway, how CL had the time to care for the clothes beside her strong schedule of meeting friends in pubs.

Seems to be well known and also seems to be someone, with 1. bad manners and 2. who didn't fear to leave evidence of having been there at her door recently. (The pack doesn't look like an old one from weeks ago.)

Just a quick question re DO taking the alternative/longer route to work on the morning of the 19th. Was he/his car picked up by CCTV to confirm he took the longer route?
@Bagpipes I also found this statement by Oxer strange as he would have had to go out of his way and take a longer, less convenient route as in his statement. I attach a Google Maps route that shows the scenario:

On my attached image, Oxer is coming from the direction of his home-Red Line.
He approaches roundabout at intersection of Stockton Lane and Heworth Road:

Scenario 1
The route he would normally take and passing Claudia's house, indicated by the Google Red Pin-The Green Route

Scenario 2
The route that Oxer would most likely take if he was avoiding Heworth Road-red Route. The Orange broken line along the red route shows a possible short cut.
Seems to be well known and also seems to be someone, with 1. bad manners and 2. who didn't fear to leave evidence of having been there at her door recently. (The pack doesn't look like an old one from weeks ago.)

I recall in another online forum SC commented that JK smoked that brand of cigarettes and JK's brother was selling cigarettes with this brand online??
