I understood that a fire door can not be locked. However; it can not be opened from the outside, but it should be easily activated open from the inside, via a bar mechanism for example
If I remember well, upstairs in the NH there are rental rooms, entrance only via the metal stairs at the back of building. The door has to be accessible for that reason, IMO.
I found it very uncomfortable (if not primitive) and wouldn't have wanted such a room as a tourist for example.

So many possibilities. You are perhaps having an affair, youve got an overnight bag stashed at a friends house or maybe a property you are working on in Heworth place, out of the nags, grab your overnight bag and knock on her door. you leave at just after 5am which then gives her time to get ready for work, walk back to your place to drop your bag off.
First we have to learn by her good old girlfriends, if CL ever had a "boyfriend" at her home overnight.
Second: Which man is so very considerate to leave his girlfriend alone in time, for her preparing for work early in the morning? :p

He could have had a longer journey to his own work place !?

Probably busy at the moment plodding around the Yorkshire moors trying to find someone with a thermos so they can fine them for having a picnic, got to get your priorities right
With respect that would be a priority .Saving lives by making sure people follow the rules has to come before trying to find a lady who could be living a happy life or a lady who has passed away ( most believe to a better place ) !
And , talking in general here , dissing the police is not going to bring the case forward .
That has to be for some other time surly ?

@FromGermany Was that the good NEW friends who seem to be stealing the limelight as it is rather bizzare that friends who knew Claudia and stayed in touch with her since her early career have not been interviewed in front of the camera.
There is a feel to this case of the Media manipulating this case in a very similar way to in the case of a much younger female IMO

@Popejohn3 Police have to have a level of accountability here and so I fully understand the hear and now but also if a killer or killers are still loose, Police have a public responsibility to find them before someone else is harmed-That is if that has not already occurred?

The whole case appears to have been micro managed by NYP in my opinion
I see it more like the Media are manipulated.

Just my opinion

I think murder or suspected murder trumps having a cup of coffee in the middle of nowhere

The sad truth is that murders are still occuring.
As you can see from the chart in 2018 2 murders 2019 4 murders no one appears todate to have been charged so these are also ongoing cases.
Add to this suspected murder unexplained deaths and other serious crimes all have which have to be investigated then you can appreciate the task in hand for NYP
Total number of murders & outcome of murder offences 01/10/10 - 15/03/20 (FOI: 1284.2019-20) - North Yorkshire Police

Phone home.

The Acomb connection - in the early investigation it was asked if any taxi drivers picked up Claudia and dropped her anywhere in Acomb, it was suggested that "her phone" was active in the weeks leading up to her disappearance in the Acomb area.

Reading between the lines - this is not a 7 mile triangulation this is a specific area.

unidentified phones used in the Heworth area on the 18th/19th March 2009 may of been used in the Acomb area in the weeks leading up to Claudia's disappearance and I think this is what the team are suggesting (they are showing the perp they have this intelligence). I was also thinking someone using a dual sim phone may of hidden their location whilst on the move. When you consider Claudia's phone was switched off normally, perhaps the perp was using a dual sim (there is no evidence of this). There is no crime scene, no body, no known motive it leads you to believe the killer did not want to be traced and had thought it through long before any interaction.

My thoughts were she probably had a second device/phone given to her for use.
This phone would not be registered in her name or have her registered as the bill payer.
So the only record of the calls to that phone would be on a billing statement of the person who purchased the phone and was paying the bill.

I am of the opinion the team are not looking at a phone of Claudia's but of a third party(unidentified device) which was in and around Heworth over the evening of the 18th/morning of the 19th that was also present in Acomb in the weeks leading up to Claudia's disappearance.

Does anyone share the following view:
NYP SIO Galloway was awful, his team missed so much-Was this possibly for a reason.
Malyn seemed to do a good job but was Malyns frustration not due to the silence of POIs and more around the way that Galloway and his team possibly compromised the evidence and investigation into the case.

I wondered if there are any verified insiders with a police background who would be able to comment on this.
I have a high regard for our police as they do a thankless job but I'm not sure if Galloway was one of their finest.
Yes, that is exactly how I see it yoo

And if they are official they should have contacted nyp a long time ago.

That is not quite how the public heard the story.
It was revealed that Claudia’s phone was in the Acombe area years and years later and almost straight away police asked taxi drivers to come forward.
It’s about 8 miles from Acombe to Heworth A phone call ( or several ) could’ve started in Acombe and finished in Heworth and visa versa .

Agreed same thing ...mystery boyfriend / mystery phone!
The mystery boy friend was probably at the Acomb area on a temporary basis . Where was he based in the months years before that ?

This post lands at random.

Please stop the rudeness and personalizing and the petty sniping that's been going on in this discussion.

If you can't post politely, respectfully .. don't post.

I agree but if Claudia was in possession of a phone given to her by that third party and was used solely to communicate with that third party then that phone with call and text messages to that person could lead police to that third party. That third party would want to retrieve that device at all cost.
IMO

Yes but same applies to her own phone .

@Blonderabbit Im not sure if I read this post clearly before replying.
Are you saying that you think the calls and texts she made on the weds evening were from a different phone rather than her own and that this is something the police have kept to themselves perferring to say they were made on her samsung?

Or was I correct in my reply and the part in your post that said looking at a phone of Claudia's should have read looking for a phone of Claudia's

Sorry I have a bit of a mind fog .. :):confused::confused:
