Websleuths has Rules. The WS volunteer Moderator team is very small and Mods can't possibly sit it in each and every thread 24/7 keeping watch over posts in real time to know if members are in compliance with The Rules. We rely on an honour system whereby members know the rules and Report violations to us when they see them. If members do not Report violations, Mods don't necessarily know they are occurring.

Moderating is like going fishing ..... you catch as many as you can but you never catch all the fish all of the time. Some members get mad at Mods when their post is removed and start a campaign of reviewing older threads, finding old violations and sending us a zillion Reports. Mods can't possibly go back through prior threads to clean up ALL those old violations and ALL THE RESPONSES .. and responses to those responses, so ... they either do nothing or the thread gets pulled, or the thread gets shut down entirely because of the amount of work it causes the few Moderators that we have.

Common courtesy folks ... Tricia's house, Tricia's rules. She would not dream of going to your house and breaking your house rules. If she did, you'd show her the door.

If members want this discussion to remain open, it's simple:

1) Read The Rules
2) Follow The Rules
3) Report violations to us when they occur
4) Follow The Rules
5) Follow The Rules

We want to keep Claudia's thread open, but if older cases create too much work for Websleuths staff, the discussion will be closed.

Off in a slightly different direction but I wondered if you had 1-2 questions to pose to the cold case team what would they be?

perhaps we could start a list if you feel there is benefit, could also be WS members may have the answers....
My top questions:

1) From the CCTV footage taken from the Melrosegate post office which was suggested initially as being of CL on the morning of the 19th. Was this footage from the 19th and were the persons identified and interviewed?
2) was the car parked outside number 46 in front of the Ford Ranger on the night of the 18th ever identified?


1. Did the man who NYP identfied only as 'alleyman' on the Heworth Place footage appear on the cctv footage at Melrosegate PO on thurs morn?
2. Was he ever seen on internal or exterior cctv at the Uni in the days leading up to her disappearance?

I'm starting to think she was killed by a hitman linked to the drugs racket in the NH - we won't find her for years.

People do ask and have asked questions from cold case and they in turn have been forthcoming in some of their response and the response sometimes has been quite revealing but they do not tell you it’s okay to tell others or not as the case maybe .So one keeps schtum.

If someone was to talk to cold case and new information was revealed, it would still be considered as rumour and speculation on WS unless or until NYP were to update their website with said information.
Besides, 'someone', 'anyone' could post anything here and say they had received the information from cold case, without ever having spoken to cold case.

Why is the figure climbing the traffic lights.
There is a camera mounted on the top of the traffic lights seen on the Google street walk map in aug 2008 was he going to try to disengage it?

I've watched the CCTV many, many times. I do not see anyone climbing the traffic light. I'm not sure what you are seeing. Heworth is pretty quiet but kids do hang out on that corner sometimes. I'm local, I grew up off Hull Road, but I lived on Heworth Green for a while after I got married.

Heh. Looking at the attachment it is possible to imagine a figure straddling the traffic light pole half way up - though any such person would have to be headless, as the white border of the bottom edge of the light panel is visible. Also, when the light goes green a second later and the bus starts to move, the figure has disappeared (see attached). Yet another CCTV ‘ghost’ IMO.

This piece includes a cctv still of CL leaving work on the 18th, but also two stills (including one “enhanced” image - see below) of her (presumably) arriving at work that day.

My two questions are:
Is that a bag she is holding in front of her?
If so, what colour would you say it is?
