Will the search continue over the bank holiday week-end?
Yes, the police work bank holidays
Yes, it is a possibility that they are the murder weapon. I don't think she took them to work with her.

Out of interest how could you murder someone with a pair of staighteners?

Strangulation with the cable DNA all over it so disposed of it ? Was just a thought.

Of course LE works on holidays, I was wondering if the specialist teams would continue through the week-end, I should have been clear.

I don't think hair straightener would make a very good weapon. Granted, I have destroyed a hairdo or two with mine.

I suppose you could strangle someone as above with the wire (it’s about 5m long) according to the wife.

iKnowyouknow i respectfully hold a different view.
Whether it be her parents, friends , former boyfriends ,or former work colleagues effectively everyone who knew her all say Claudia was initally shy with people and also didnt know or exploit to her advantage that she was very attractive. In fact her mother goes a lot further saying that claudia had very low self esteem and when they went shopping claudia would get many admiring looks from men but never even realised it herself.
It says something about her calm happy friendly manner that former work colleagues and boyfriends happily stayed in touch. I have seen nothing anywhere which says she was ever rude aggressive or confrontational quite the opposite by all accounts she was over often over generous
Her day to day life was similar to millions of people, she was sensible conscientious house proud worked full time including 6am shifts where her father said she would get up at 4am (self discipline trait there!) her spare time was mainly spent with friends primarily at the nags head or with her parents .
I do agree that a disproportionate amount is known about her last 2 years when living in heworth to her life before then. We know the basics of career and love life but aside from a few people she previously worked with as friends not much known or shared at all in Gone book about her life friends hobbies between ages 18-33 moving to york.
The problem is that from the investigation perspective she also had many male friends nothing wrong with that of course but locally she had male friends former work colleagues, many at nags head and in cyprus had got to know many bar owners also primarily men. I dont believe she was leading any kind of double life she was just very popular and spent a lot of time out and about in pubs and abroad.
Definitely a naivety to her but nothing nasty at all based on anything i have read
Kaykedi...i havent got the quote right now but her final text were with her male friend in cyprus about visiting him i recall was along the lines of 'trying to get a cheap hotel but finding it hard everywhere else cheap except cyprus will keep looking' general chat about her visiting thats all nothing of stress or concern as i recall at all

re last text message to male friend in Cyprus.
Can I ask you why you think she failed to mention to Steve Sammons in their text messages that she had infact booked a holiday to Cyprus just days before.
In other articles he disclosed he knew nothing of Robbie Campbells disclosure that she was going to visit Cyprus in April and had planned to stay with him.

The link to the article below perhaps offers an insight into the complex relationships Claudia had and what and who she chose to share her plans with.
Missing Claudia Lawrence did not come to Cyprus 4 years ago, insist pals

Claudia was entitled to lead her life as she pleased as we all are. I dont see her as shy she was a very sociable person she travelled to Cyprus many times on her own and made friends easily. The years before she moved to Heworth road are not widely publicised but for anyone interested not that hard to find

In looking at the NYP timeline has anyone else found that a lot of the hyperlinks don't work or videos have been removed? Not sure if this is just sloppy website updates or they have been removed?

Claudia Lawrence investigation

There are too many to list that don't work!

It's a Youtube thing. Unlisted videos uploaded before 2017 were made private in July this year.

I know the breakfast dishes in the sink have been much discussed on these threads, but I had never seen this particular comment from Claudia's mother before.

And they need to look at those first 72 hours again. They said she left her breakfast pots in the sink but Claudia didn’t have breakfast. “She didn’t want it at 5.15am, she had breakfast at work. She was a chef.

keepitreal....very fair points you make one of which i wasnt aware of.
To be honest its all incredibly difficult. Everyone says she was shy yet she would go to bars on her own sometimes go abroad on her own and start chatting with male bar owners etc so i appreciate objectively i am contradicting my earlier comments somewhat, shy lonely or actually different away from friends and family. ?.....what i wont do is criticise her as none of us know and frankly how many of us are quiet the 'wholesome' person our parents may think!
On a different note the visitors around her house weeks up to her disappearance troubles me. The man who was seen at her door she eventually led in after looking up and down the road and the two men who were seen at the door one afternoon when presumably she was out and they actually tried to open the front door...of course these witness events and other witnesses could be mistaken but as with other apparent sightings never came forward- all so very odd

Yes, it would make much more sense to just down a coffee at home and then get breakfast off the service at work. Certainly I was always more under the impression that those were pasta bowls left over from an evening meal in the sink.

There’s also this.
Yeah it looks def like storage for digester materials. Often waste grass / farm type stuff... fed into a heat process to make gas which is then used to create electric ... I have one near me ...

Has anyone revisited the link with Christopher Halliwell? I found these articles.

http://nyenquirer.uk/evans-heron-was-it-halliwell-3/

Of note are his links to fishing sites?

  • locations near fishing sites.
  • Halliwell had a reason to be in the area for the purpose of fishing, sightseeing or work.
He is also a left handed smoker

Have a grieving mother and an ex-cop solved the eight-year murder mystery of Claudia Lawrence?

He also had sketches or places and trophy items and finally the DNA found on the cigarette in her car was male all of which you'd hope NYP have thoroughly investigated.

For balance I link the article below where NYP discredit the CH link using timeline differences. However, they only mention the fact that his father died in 1992 after links were made that his father lived near CL or PL. That's it?

I think the night of the 18th. The last message from her phone (that we know about) seemed to be out of character and also containing wrong information. Did she send it hoping someone would realise it was wrong or did someone else send it to try and make sure nobody was overly concerned about her absence - she was tired from long shifts at work - and to buy them time to make a plan.

Also, she started a conversation by text with the friend in Cyprus and never responded to his last message. Given that she started the conversation, would she not have checked her messages and replied the next morning before leaving for work?

It’s odd that there seemed to be quite a few CCTV cameras on shops and private properties that caught her walking towards home on 18th yet nothing at all on the morning of 19th? Even if there were no cameras specifically showing the front door of her house were there any that would have picked her up getting into a car or when she got to the road if she left via the alleyway at the back? Would anyone drive to the back of the house to pick her up or was someone staying with her and parking in the NH which had no working CCTV.
If we are to believe her work colleague she spent the night of 17th with a new boyfriend. Was it just the case that the straighteners were left in her rucksack from that night and she’d leave it by the door to pick up when she left for work the next morning.

I’ve always believed she was taken out of the house via the alleyway and NH carpark and then the house was staged to look like she’d left for work. The thing I’m interested in is the way the it was left. Her mother said that she wouldn’t have worn the slippers which were left by the door and the hair dye seemed to be out of place if she’d just had her hair coloured elsewhere? Were those slippers left there because the others were with Claudia? It would make sense of her belongings such as handbag, charger etc being at home and just her rucksack and chef clothes missing along with the straighteners if she’d had them at work with her that day having stayed a boyfriends house on the 17th.

I don’t think she left for work on 19th. I think that’s when she was taken away from the house before someone went in to clean up. Easy enough to just pick up her rucksack and any other incriminating items and dispose of them. With her not being reported missing until 20th, there’d be plenty of time to dispose of her belongings somewhere completely different to where they left her.
Good comprehensive thinking, I’m thinking the 18th but I cannot settle with the idea someone was clever enough to stage it to look like she left for work - removing just her rucksack.
In my opinion the rucksack is a pivotal
Clue

Can someone link me to photos of the breakfast dishes? I can only find the container with paint brush and pot with what looks like hair dye in it and another utensil.

It was the one about having to do 12 long days in a row which, as far as I can tell from what I’ve read, was untrue. She also tended to end her messages with an ‘x’ and there wasn’t one.
It might not mean anything but does seem a bit odd to be giving out the wrong info to someone who should know that to be wrong.
Thank you for explaining
