Can someone link me to photos of the breakfast dishes? I can only find the container with paint brush and pot with what looks like hair dye in it and another utensil.
Hair straighteners missing
There are no photos of the dishes (I think the only time I have seen them is on the documentaries )- but clearly states they were breakfast dishes. Also a footnote about someone informing them Claudia took her straighteners to work sometimes.

iKnowyouknow i respectfully hold a different view.
Whether it be her parents, friends , former boyfriends ,or former work colleagues effectively everyone who knew her all say Claudia was initally shy with people and also didnt know or exploit to her advantage that she was very attractive. In fact her mother goes a lot further saying that claudia had very low self esteem and when they went shopping claudia would get many admiring looks from men but never even realised it herself.
It says something about her calm happy friendly manner that former work colleagues and boyfriends happily stayed in touch. I have seen nothing anywhere which says she was ever rude aggressive or confrontational quite the opposite by all accounts she was over often over generous
Her day to day life was similar to millions of people, she was sensible conscientious house proud worked full time including 6am shifts where her father said she would get up at 4am (self discipline trait there!) her spare time was mainly spent with friends primarily at the nags head or with her parents .
I do agree that a disproportionate amount is known about her last 2 years when living in heworth to her life before then. We know the basics of career and love life but aside from a few people she previously worked with as friends not much known or shared at all in Gone book about her life friends hobbies between ages 18-33 moving to york.
The problem is that from the investigation perspective she also had many male friends nothing wrong with that of course but locally she had male friends former work colleagues, many at nags head and in cyprus had got to know many bar owners also primarily men. I dont believe she was leading any kind of double life she was just very popular and spent a lot of time out and about in pubs and abroad.
Definitely a naivety to her but nothing nasty at all based on anything i have read
Kaykedi...i havent got the quote right now but her final text were with her male friend in cyprus about visiting him i recall was along the lines of 'trying to get a cheap hotel but finding it hard everywhere else cheap except cyprus will keep looking' general chat about her visiting thats all nothing of stress or concern as i recall at all
Great post, and, thank you for explaining about Claudia's last text

Out Foxed

New bloodhounds looking at this case - what’s your thoughts on what happened to CL? Old hands sometimes can’t see the wood for the trees - I’d be interested in your take - 18th or 19th?
One of the four or are police barking up the wrong tree?
I’ve lurked here for a while, mostly for Claudia’s case and that of Suzy Lamplugh. I can’t see past the four - the police seem to have heavily hinted at that after the prosecutions were dropped - but am aware that sometimes the main line of inquiry is proved wrong. As for her love life - I don’t doubt that newspapers have shamed and scandalised her to sell papers. That’s shameful and wrong. It doesn’t mean that her love life isn’t relevant, or should be discounted. You don’t discount evidence or leads because they’re awkward.

I really hope this is a breakthrough. It seems to have come out of nowhere (at least to us who don’t have access to all the details) and the police are clearly pushing it. I hope that’s based on good evidence.

Respectfully, there is a photo of the 'breakfast ' dishes and other items in the sink but I really don't think they are, her Mum said she didn't eat breakfast so early and the piece of cutlery on the top dish is a fork. If you Google 'claudia lawrence breakfast dishes' on images it appears on the top row, sorry, I don't know how to link it. Shadwell has just posted it

Police dig up land close to where missing chef Claudia Lawrence was last seen

Update:
This morning, two officers marked off a 700-foot stretch of land near the gravel pits in Sand Hutton, a village only eight miles from Claudia's home in York.

They dug up a single three foot deep hole, while around 40 officers remained in the area searching the ground with sticks.

pond is drained too, there’s pics in the link.

I hope they guard this area at night?

That to me is dinner dishes and the toothbrush if brushing teeth in the kitchen sink you wouldn't be spitting out on top of your pile of washing up, surely? JMO but I don't think she got the chance to brush her teeth the night before.

Those don't look like breakfast dishes to me. They look like rinsed and ready to wash dinner dishes. Esp with the wine glasses.

And her mum is right, unlikely Claudia is going to make herself breakfast at 5:15 when she can do it at work at a more reasonable time when she's more awake. I know I'd do the same.

I've always thought the toothbrush there was weird. But, she did live alone, so, I dunno. It was easy? She ate and always brushed, toothpaste and brush right there?

Or it was moved.

Odd to me, too.

Detective Superintendent Ray Galloway said on Crimewatch that Claudia’s relationships were described as having an element of complexity and mystery to them - but what and who was the source?

Missing chef Claudia Lawrence had 'mystery' relationships

Galloway appealed for anyone who had been involved in a relationship with Lawrence to come forward. "As the investigation has developed, it's apparent that some of Claudia's relationships had an element of complexity and mystery to them," he said.

But what does that really mean?

I think this didn’t help in the search for Claudia and how much did this influence NYP as well? They didn’t collect forensic evidence at her house for 5 or 6 weeks - why?!

I’m glad that Claudia’s Mum is being given more of a voice now. I think it’s mad that her and Peter (Claudia’s Dad) haven’t spoken throughout the entire investigation? I know people have difficult break ups but if your daughter was missing for all this time?

Hi all. Long time lurker on this thread.

Does anyone know what colour the hair dye was? Was it her 'current' colour or something different?

there are confusing reports as to what her hair colour actually was at the time of her disappearance, but she had Brown hair. the dyes at her home were blonde and brown.

This is the picture of the hair dye - blonde highlights. Claudia’s Mum said she had brown hair and complained that the photo shared of her on the search was an old one with blonde hair. We don’t know that the dye wasn’t someone else’s.

Thank you.

I know there are many strange things in this whole case but I find the hair dye the oddest. I believe she recently had her hair coloured in a salon. So it's odd that she's dyed it so soon after - but it could be she maybe didn't like the job they'd done. But what I find really strange is that she left the opened kit in her bathroom. Anyone that has ever dyed their hair at home knows how messy this is and how easy it is to spill the stuff. I just find it bizarre that she is generally described as very tidy yet left all that out.

Thanks for that link.

That makes much more sense. I had read of it before giving the impression that she had left them out in the bathroom but those pictures just show that they were used and 'staged' for the shot. Thanks!

re last text message to male friend in Cyprus.
Can I ask you why you think she failed to mention to Steve Sammons in their text messages that she had infact booked a holiday to Cyprus just days before.
In other articles he disclosed he knew nothing of Robbie Campbells disclosure that she was going to visit Cyprus in April and had planned to stay with him.

The link to the article below perhaps offers an insight into the complex relationships Claudia had and what and who she chose to share her plans with.
Missing Claudia Lawrence did not come to Cyprus 4 years ago, insist pals

Claudia was entitled to lead her life as she pleased as we all are. I dont see her as shy she was a very sociable person she travelled to Cyprus many times on her own and made friends easily. The years before she moved to Heworth road are not widely publicised but for anyone interested not that hard to find
Claudia probably wanted to surprise Steve

Has anyone revisited the link with Christopher Halliwell? I found these articles.

http://nyenquirer.uk/evans-heron-was-it-halliwell-3/

Of note are his links to fishing sites?

  • locations near fishing sites.
  • Halliwell had a reason to be in the area for the purpose of fishing, sightseeing or work.
He is also a left handed smoker

Have a grieving mother and an ex-cop solved the eight-year murder mystery of Claudia Lawrence?

He also had sketches or places and trophy items and finally the DNA found on the cigarette in her car was male all of which you'd hope NYP have thoroughly investigated.

For balance I link the article below where NYP discredit the CH link using timeline differences. However, they only mention the fact that his father died in 1992 after links were made that his father lived near CL or PL. That's it?

Murderer Christopher Halliwell and the Claudia Lawrence search
Finger prints and dna would have been checked on data base and you would think that CH signature would be on the data base !

Mum of missing Claudia Lawrence too scared to turn on TV in case of 'bad news'

In the tv documentry by Donal MacIntyre Gerrard Tubb Sky reporter said newspaper journalists themselves were having problems getting to the bottom of just what these relationships Ray Gallaway had elluded to were, some of the people we wanted to talk didnt want to talk to us. some of them had lifestyles that werent necassarily compatible with openly answering questions from journalists or from the police and I was threatened on this investigattion and I was and warned off on this investigation, which is pretty unusual for a murder enquiry of a solicitors daughter in rural market town in North Yorkshire.

Later in the programme he goes on to say that one of the officers involved in the case described some of the men she was involved with as a rogues gallery.
no link avail programme screened on CH5

These are important details about the type of 'some' of people Claudia was or had previously been associating with. Claudia was a grown woman and could associate with whoever she wanted to but to dismiss details like this is a grave mistake when searching for answers to what may have happened to her.
