Does anyone know, WHY it was said, that the possible 2 sightings of Claudia on her way to Uni (man/woman at a bridge; burgundy car with door open plus man/woman standing across the street near Uni) rather would have been "fake" sightings?? Who meant to know this?

"After the appeal was released, there were two potential sightings reported of a woman with a man on the morning of the 19th: one by a cyclist on Melrosegate bridge at 5.35am and again 30 minutes later, when a commuter noticed a couple outside the university who looked like they were arguing. The man was described as skinny, about 5’6 and wearing a dark hoodie." Taken from article above.
I have not seen any proof that they were 'fake' sightings. If anyone has seen such an article please post.

The police also said at the time that the man was taller then her and we know Claudia was 5.6 herself ??

It’s a theory, that they were used to divert attention away from Heworth.

I'm totally confused. These two "last known sightings" have no time or date but her hair is totally different.
If she posted the letter on the afternoon of the 18th she must've gone home cut & dyed her hair then gone back out.
That would explain the empty dye bottles seen downstairs.
Or the one on the right ain't her?

The left pic is Claudia leaving work on the 18th, you can watch the cctv and see yourself.

How can they state anything as fact unless they have concrete evidence? If someone rings up or contacts the team and says - hi saw a man in a hoody smoking with his left hand in melrosegate bridge or and arguing couple on blah blah blah with the door flung open - you have to take it into consideration. Though they could be completely bogus - as far as I know there’s no supporting evidence of either report - cctv, other collaboration. So you as a sleuth rule it in or rule it out?

I think with the composition slides - info has been taken from different bits of cctv. I have a feeling and it’s just my opinion that the photo on the left you think is Claudia - is taken on her arrival at work either on the 18th or a previous day. The other photos are of her leaving work on the 18th. - a point you make which is of interest is her hair colour. So if you are correct it must mean she coloured her hair before the 18th March 2009

The Crimewatch reconstruction was 2009?
Maybe after the case was re-evaluated again later the Police changed their mind as the investigation progressed.

IMHO having read lots on this case these ‘sightings’ were a distraction from Heworth. Same with that story about the man going into Nags head with a picture of rucksack but no CCTV in pub and no one in pub stopped him or rang police having just ‘seen’ a critical photograph, very suspicious (all opinions my own)

Absolutely - as I said in a previous post if I could leave one legacy to this thread it’s -“ look to Heworth” the answers are there - probably right in front of us. When it does get solved I’m sure we will be thinking yep - so obvious.

Not sure if you have seen the last enhanced stills from the suppressed CCTV footage but I have gone right back to single frame data. My deduction that Claudia is being carried (due to the shape of the figure's shadow... should not deter you from seeing the shadow's UNCANNY resemblence to the central figure she passes in the canteen as she left work.

She posted the letter on the 18th March on her way home - Melrosegate (see white shirt pic below) and I like how you THINK... as she would also be blonder the next day (19th March) as shown in the suppressed 'on her way to work' CCTV footage enhancement... and your 'FRESH-EYES and common sense deduction' gives credence to facts I have recently uncovered due to enhancement.
