Other ideas: Peter Lawrence had a spare key. I don't believe for a moment he had anyhting to do with Claudia's disappearance.

But did anyone have access to that key that he didn't know about? Had they copied it with the intent to burglary?

If we even start looking at it this way, it does seem that Claudia must have either been outside the house or away from it when something happened.

Was it a cigarette they found in the alleyway? The Alleyman could have just been waiting and watching. He could have made noise to unsettle Claudia and then perhaps she came out?

Again, I'm going back to the morning commute/lift theory. Did she, in the early hours, do something as simple as get in the wrong car?

Someone perhaps waited, knew her routine, got there before a scheduled taxi? I don't get how there's zero footage of her anywhere and we don't even know that she got home, it's just hearsay the lift home in the afternoon.

Sorry. Internet connection problems. Clearly security services are checking me out!

But Christ! This case is frustrating. I feel like the lift in the afternoon might not be right now, although it may be I can't account for why there's no evidence for a struggle if something happened at home. So something must have happened away from home, or outside the house, or - elsewhere. Acomb?

If it either happened that someone visited her in the afternoon and still had access to the property by some means (perhaps to remove her bag and straighteners and whites? Why? She would need them the next day? An intrusion dressed as a favour, they go back to retrieve her stuff with her keys?) if she was socialising elsewhere and had been drugged?) or else in the morning another lift was arranged and something happened there?

Has anyone spoken to her garage? Might they have offered her car back, or could someone have pretended to be one of her mechanics having heard soemthing in the pub? I just have a feeling a car is definitely involved in making her vanish. But I also struggle to understand how no CCTV was picked up at the front of her house.

I'm totally with a kidnapping dressed as lift theory or fake garage mechanic now - it would account for the lack of CCTV of Claudia at any time after she was at the post office on 18th March, and yet she still had cosy chats at home with her mum the night before, before 9pm.

But someone must have seen her in the afternoon of the 18th?

Someone must have known her plans before, even if it was her who arranged to turn up the following night at the pub and didn't turn up?

Text responses also wouldn't require Claudia to be 'present', so aren't proof of life, to be blunt.

Which makes me wonder, like the police did, if locals are really telling the full truth. They could still be innocent, but I don't think we have all the facts.

Halliwell was seen in the early afternoon (18th March the day before) filling his car with petrol with enough petrol/diesel for a significant journey.
Hi Suzie with respect you say “18th March the day before” the day before what?

I didn't see this written, it was spoken. I'm afraid I can't divulge who said it
Indeed very interesting. CH is always on my mind as soon as I forget his alleged alibi (mental health institution) again.

Would either be the night Claudia went missing or the night before the morning she went missing depending on which theory you believe.

O thank you so I guess then you believe the 19th as the murder? What draws you to this conclusion?

No I'm open to either evening or morning. Either is possible.

With respect I interpreted when you said 18th March the day before to mean the 19th - was I wrong and that isn’t what you meant sorry for being confused.

It's down to the Bus CCTV showing the 'Audi A4 Avant' parked outside Claudia's green door...and the same make and model parked outside of the HORWELL SCRAPYARD. What did either brother 'LEE HORWELL' or 'NEIL HORWELL' say they were doing that night? Reassess statements.
Even the alibi's should be requestioned (and expect wives to lie... esp GEORGE PAVLOU's) although she may now tell a way different story.

Just a thought but Halliwell was a taxi driver so I would think it plausible he was often filling his car enough for a significant journey.
According to the linked article NYP don't think he is linked to claudia though
Murderer Christopher Halliwell and the Claudia Lawrence search
I understand about them wanting to quell rumours about CH as they want lines of enquiry to remain open - apart from anything else, the silence in the town about what happened is stifling. It could very well be something known locally - but it's worth bearing in mind they'd disciplined an officer for solving the cases CH is now in prison for - as he took CH to the site of bodies in order to find them before taking him to the station. That breached protocols and it ended the policeman's career in the force. It seems ridiculous to me, but I suppose it could be considered cavalier. He has written a book, so I don't know what to think about the policeman but he's convinced CH is also Claudia's killer, in addition to being murderer of many other young women. The policeman is extremely experienced, and not prone to knee-jerk responses - at ascan it looked quite a balanced account. I think CH is in Wakefield high-security prison.

Who knew who CH too lok at, and that he was in the area? The police? Or a former policeman?!! A red herring like that messes up evidence - I hope it wasn't to publicise a book....

The day before Claudia's possible commute to work - which is what she was replying to in her comment. Good language interrogation skills though! :)

Here, sentencing marks at the Sept 2016 trial of Halliwell. Not to be read if you're feeling bad I think, but gives insight into what CH does and how anything he does might tally with what happened with Claudia. 19th March, as has been mentioned seems to be a repeated offending date for CH. I noticed on the Arrin Stoner early morning footage ( I don't know where he go that from - police publicity?) a figure in the far distance and the figure nearer to camera follwoing on the same side of the road. I don't know - maybe Claudia could have been on her way in the morning, but never made it as he followed her? But perhaps then that's also an error. In these other cases CH is in a car. He may identify people on foot and then perhaps reappear in a car? Is that it? How he does it? Perhaps he was working as a taxi driver and therefore took her as if unbooked but then did soemthing terrible? https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/r-v-halliwell-sentencing-remarks.pdf
