Okay, I will search for it, although it will be exhausting. ;) :(
Try looking at the 'Gone' link put on here recently and search Anthony Newby. I'm pretty sure that article (Elizabeth Sanderson, D. Mail or Mail on Sunday?) was discussed in detail in that book and he was named there.

For now, this one:
Mr Snelling is believed to have been a lab technician at the York University college where Claudia worked before becoming project coordinator at the mental health charity Mind in the city.
Claudia Lawrence probe: Suspect Michael Snelling described as 'devoted son'

Now I'm going to search for the sidewalk-thing ......
I believe that her friend who wrote this was a chef at University and not someone who worked elsewhere.

Yes that's him Newby

I still think it just feels like half a story. I don’t trust it either. She went to school and college in York, she worked at a hotel in York before working at The Nags. She possibly lived somewhere else in York before moving to Heworth. She would have had, and rightly so, many more friendships and close relationships other than those in the two years in Heworth.

@RachelZachary You may well be right. Much of her School life is missing and prior to Heworth she was in Malton Near York. If she had an 8 Year relationship with Paddy McGinty then she may well have socialised less with friends in Malton. Perhaps she was disliked because of this relationship?
The family would like to portray a much nicer version of Claudia than is out there. There are many women who prefer older and married men and that's life-It doesn't make her a bad person and certainly she shouldn't die because of it.
However. We will only get closer to finding what happened if we identify who the Real claudia was and I am afraid this means "warts" and all.

Also, Paul Harris, landlord of The Acomb said she was PREVIOUSLY a regular but had NOT been coming much for TWO years.

‘Harris said Miss Lawrence had previously been a regular at the pub but had stopped coming in about two years before she disappeared.’

Police 'fed me to the wolves', says York landlord after pub searched in Claudia Lawrence investigation

I often think the whole story portrayed is based on lies.
Perhaps Claudia lived in Acomb before Heworth. If she stopped coming in 2 Years before disappearing that would take this to March 2007 and Claudia moved to Heworth in November 2007. He may have been out on his approximations and so she may well have stopped coming because of leaving that area? Does anyone know?
It does feel as @RachelZachary says that we only appear to know bits of her life as she would have been about 25 when she started dating Paddy McGinty and where and what period did Dan Whitehand fit in to her life

She was in a relationship with Dan Whitehead for two years after Paddy McGinty.

I think there’s a lot more to Claudia than her two years in Heworth, and while it’s important to listen to rumour and hearsay, facts are also important.

Perhaps Dan Whitehead lived in Acomb? If Paul Harris says she was regular previously, that would make sense.

‘Dan says he and Claudia split because she wanted to settle but he was still scarred from the break-up of a five-year relationship before he met her. They agreed to stay in touch as friends.’
That would have been best for her. Clearly she just got in with the wrong people. It says quite a lot this
Paddy to Fan and back to a Paddy type with Lee Horwell, followed by a series of relationships many that we are unaware of?

Possibly. But how do we really know? The police analysed her phone records but we don’t have all the information. Perhaps the story portrayed really suits someone? Diverts the truth? Perhaps there was someone else she wanted to settle with but they were in a relationship? Or they didn’t want to? Or someone else didn’t want her to?

There is no way the only friends she had were the few that we know about, and Jen and Suzy had only known her for two years. Yet you’d think they’d known her all her life the way it’s portrayed.

I agree. Suzy mentioned though that they saw each other 4 times a week "which is more than most normal friends". So it seems quite an intense friendship developed with the common threads being singlehood, Heworth and a fondness for drinking.

I have no doubt the police will have interviewed every friend, male or female, who knew Claudia. They will have obtained a list of former workplaces and acquired details of former employees who worked with Claudia. That is how they get inside a case where there is no other evidence.
As well as the Uni, she worked at The King's Head, Malton where CL was the chef and Liz Holder the waitress. Then The Gold Cup Inn in YO41, moving to York in 2005 and working at The Monkbar before joining York Uni in 2007. Also Claudia lived in Malton before YO31 and is listed there between 2002/2003 (open records on internet). She left home at 16.
You might remember that in the early days of her disappearance, her friends from the Nag's Head pushed themselves into the limelight (ok some more than others) holding interviews with multiple newspapers and news broadcasters, until it started to get heavy. Perhaps this excessive publicity deterred friends from outside the Heworth bubble from coming forward publicy - but the police will have gone to them. Liz Holder did at first but then I didn't read much more from her afterwards. I believe the answer to this case lies with her life then in March 2009, and not in her past.

@RachelZachary We know of her friend Liz who she was messaging on her last known night.
It may have been that she met with female friends when she met people at Acomb and perhaps elsewhere.
Her profile however does show signs of her distancing from many old friends since she moved to Heworth and was sucked into the Nags Head group. This is quite normal as we do make new friends that are more "present" as we move through life and then stay in touch with only our best friends from the earlier days-Liz being one of them.

I think the public would have been better informed with a more thorough picture of Claudia and her life. I don’t have much trust in all the people that we know were around her in 2009. But that doesn’t mean there weren’t others. Were Jen and Suzy pushed forward into the limelight for a reason? Wouldn’t more friends want to help? I know I would if she was my friend. The people on the CCTV could have been from any point in her life? Did the police manage to trace everyone in her phone? They’ve not had much luck with anything else. I’d love to know who they think murdered her.

@RachelZachary There have been a number of people look into this case and study some of the Body language and written word of some of Claudias most recent friends. There is one in particular that wherever you tread on social media she is instantly disliked. In addition we have looked at records of property purchases in the area and where people have lived and do live. The Police know who did this they will be watching their every move and eventually one of the silent ones will talk.

The people on CCTV may have not had anything to do with her disappearance but the police may want them to come forward because at the same time they were seen, someone or something else the police had seen required ratification-In many ways the shadows on CCTV may well be irrelevant in this case but useful witnesses that can provide the Glue to cement a case and gain a prosecution.

I think what we are trying to do is to get closer to finding out what the Police know rather than to reinvent a villain. In some ways.
The continuation of comments on Social Media increases the pressure on those to come forward and talk-That is if they are really Claudias friends or is it just that they get a big kick from living in this lovely girls shadow??
