On account of my love of cigarettes, I remember that GF used to smoke Embassies. On account of my hatred of hands, I'm not sure which hand he smoked with. Jen smoked when I knew her
Thanks @moonsafari Police say they couldn't identify the DNA on the cigarette as it was a males DNA they were searching for and the cigarettes were as @Popejohn3 mentions Embassy. I have conducted further checks and found that the Embassy brand was Embassy Regal. I note your love of smoking. As George would have had his DNA taken, if only to eliminate him (He went to house with Peter Lawrence) I don't suppose if you noted anyone else who may have offered you a Regal when you were at the pub who was Male?

My understanding is that anyone who is arrested must give a DNA sample. See Being arrested: your rights I would imagine that there would be further charges for refusing.
Also if Police wish to eliminate anyone form their enquiries and so anyone who may have discovered the crime scene Etc. I would suggest that this would include George Foreman and her Dad. But when we hear about the "Refusal of Some" when CPS is mentioned. Does this mean that possibly some of Claudias friends and associates refused to give DNA samples???

With respect if I send info through crimestoppers without leaving my name I would expect the police to take it seriously.
It could have been from more than one source .
Since no one came forward it was probably cl and her assailant or assailant and his woman .
Equally it could be from a "NutJob" Police will have received many sightings. What about the one in Amsterdam from an Ex Policeman? I have never seen her here.

Not according to Nikynoo's link:
Giving fingerprints, photographs and samples
The police have the right to take photographs of you. They can also take fingerprints and a DNA sample (eg from a mouth swab or head hair root) from you as well as swab the skin surface of your hands and arms. They don’t need your permission to do this.
The problem NYP are up against is that Claudia was known to have these friends in her house (info helpfully provided by JK) so their prints will be everywhere in CLs home.

I've been wondering this also....
You can give a DNA sample on voluntary basis, but can only compel if arrested. Then you get into grounds for arrest etc etc. So, I would say that you're on the right track, that the refusal to give DNA on a voluntary basis, has hampered the investigation. Now I'm wondering about GF, with the embassy cigarettes et al......

The man at Claudias door on 16th /17th March......
Monday 16th or Tuesday 17th

Time 14:30-15:00

Man with Hip length Tan coloured thin Mac type jacket with a hood seen on phone walking along Heworth Road, he had a small dark rucksack with very little in it and approaching Claudia’s house.

Description

In 30’s, 5’9” to 5”10”

White, Clean shaven, Very neat Dark Brownish hair and cut stylishly with a fringe

He was dressed smartly but casually and wore Dark Jeans / Chinos / Trousers with dark footwear.
Your thoughts. Eyes hidden to protect the innocent but we know who this is. Was he leaving his wife and/ or having an affair, the new boyfriend and did this prompt her to go to police. Possibly the cause of the consideration of Perverting the cause of justice charges???

Don't know, how he dressed, but the most attractive one of all, I've seen since. Thought it already years earlier. Wouldn't have wondered about CL's preference/taste.

On the night of her disappearance Peter offered Claudia the use of her car the next Day:

He said that when he spoke to her just before 7.30pm on Wednesday, he had offered Claudia the use of his car on Thursday because he was going to London. “I wasn’t surprised when she said: ‘No, the weather’s beautiful, I’m going to walk’

Bt that would have entailed him popping around and who might he have discovered her with?

This man has done so much for Claudia and was a great father to her.

As George was never arrested this would put him in this box but I would have thought there were grounds to arrest him if he was allowing to have a mattress and bedsheets removed from his Pub on the day she dissapeared??? It is also possible that George could have lots of "Dirty" on other Nags?? @moonsafari

Are you sure? - I'm always thinking: how did he get along with that impairment of HIS reputation? It had to be an impairment, IMO.

@Yozzer But what about those not arrested but just interviewed?

And this is where it gets complicated because we have the 'reluctance of some' who, in 2009, were married or with partners and did not want to disclose their connection to CL to protect their own hides. We know she had dozens of 'friends' or 'associates' but only 1 or maybe 2, killed her. The rest were just playing away from home and this muddied the waters of the investigation.

Since when CL's car had been in repair? Why did CL's mum AND dad offer a possibility, to get to her work place (one offered a taxi, one offered his own car)?? All their thoughts circled around her second daughter? Why at all?
