I didn't know he was married or divorced

Yes-He was married at the time Claudia went missing but this was strained due to his many late nights following Lock ins-Apparently he drove home and so must have lived off premises.
I don't know if he separated whilst he was at Nags or after he left

That most if not all our questions can be answered easily and quickly by the famous four !
If they are innocent and personally I believe they are,why don’t they come on here and help out ?
Genuine question here: Do police have the right to gage them ?Have they gagged them ?

That is a good question but they would not have any reason to lie if they are innocent and good friends to Claudia.
I would want to clear my name completely !
They must know that we know no one is perfect !
Doing a foreigner ,not paying the right taxes and perhaps playing around etc are nothing compered to harming another human being

If the 4 arrested were set up and are completely innocent, does anyone have a view as to how it took over 5 years for them to be arrested and for any "planted" evidence to come to light?
Equally, is anyone up on the police and CPS procedures that may also suggest why it then took almost another year to dismiss any case against them as I would have expected a fairly quick-Yes or No on such a high profile case?
Would the locks have been changed at Claudias house following the first search following her disappearance in 2009?

I think someone overheard them talking about Claudia and a bet, thats why they were arrested

Yes he was both.
Moonsafari mentions it in her blog. The fact he was married in 2009 is potentially significant since we know that some married interviewees were 'less than candid' as DS Galloway would say.

Wasn't the publicity around the Lime Court/Heworth Place video a key factor as one of the 4 was arrested as a result of names suggested by the public and also he had been interviewed previously so became a viable suspect, I assume.
It is possible this person may have leaked something which implicated one or more of the others, leading to the further 3 arrests?

This is interesting. The Times interview DR in August 2018. I am putting names in initials format.

“They were saying they had a witness and that I had said something to the witness [to the effect that I killed CL]. It was a load of rubbish and the person took something I said out of context.”
In 2015 they arrested four men on suspicion of murder, including DR. Then they applied huge pressure. It is understood that at least one suspect and another witness — JK, a close friend of CL — were told in police interviews that DR had confessed to murder. It was a tactic to cause stress in the hope that cracks might show. DR called the allegations “one million per cent not true”. He knew CL only from drinking in the pub.
“It was awful,” said JK, a former barmaid at the NH who was interviewed by police. “I knew it wasn’t true. I told them it was impossible but they kept saying they had evidence.”
Police later took a different tack. “They said they had a confession from somebody else,” DR said. “Somebody else had confessed to it in the pub. They said one of the other three had confessed. “They thought there was this big conspiracy between us ... It’s mad.”
CL’s father, PL, thinks the answer “is still in the NH. It’s nothing I know. Just instinct.

One is if you do a street view of NH on 2009 there is part of a mk5 Astra H van in the carpark... very similar to the one police spotted, so I reckon they just wanted someone to suggest an owner so they had grounds for arrest... a name put forward means they have something, so maybe a red herring. Also, have an image of AC circa 2010, not apt to post. But just a headshot.

Hi Discpop. Welcome and please do contribute your 'random thoughts' . I'm sure you are right in saying the police put out information to place pressure on suspects or to invoke a response from a potential witness who might just put two and two together when offered the right prompting.

A few more thoughts about the texts: 12 shifts in a row - Claudia told Jen about this via text, unless it wasn't her as discussed, on Wednesday night. So Wednesday morning she may not have known for sure she'd be working the next day too, plus another eleven after that. Midweek rota - is that usual? If not, what were the unusual circumstances? No outright confirmation from police that all texts sent/received that night reflected reality, especially the rota text? Truth is an SOS text between friends, lies could point to foul play, secrets, a brush off after an argument between them etc, one that ultimately could have led to Claudia's death.

In other news I received a phonecall, no caller ID, from someone claiming to be NYp this morning. The man seemed tetchy and retarded to me: I think a hoax caller.
