Do we know if CL ever undertook work or worked as an escort or what could reasonably be construed as such ? This is a legitimate question and not an accusation or victim blaming or casting aspersions on her character- it’s based upon the number of men immediately involved with CL around the time of her disappearance

I've often wondered whether these 'lock ins' at the nags as they were euphemistically known were really some sort of cover for swinging or some other sexual activities using the upstairs spaces and that money on occasion did change hands for certain services?

I'm not sure how much a chef at a northern university gets paid, but I can't imagine it was a massive salary - did she have a genuine need for additional funds to supplement her lifestyle?

It would be easy to do though @Nikynoo Halliwell in the media-Claudia goes missing-fake medium jumps on the rumour wagon?

I see a similarity between this man in a bus at Heworth and CH, although CH would have needed no bus as a taxi driver.

They should interview Jen King and hold her for maximum time
They have interviewed her though Major. Remember article from The Times 12/8/18?. Perhaps maximum time would concentrate the mind though.

It is understood that at least one suspect and another witness — Jen King, a close friend of Claudia — were told in police interviews that Robinson had confessed to murder. It was a tactic to cause stress in the hope that cracks might show.
Robinson called the allegations “one million per cent not true”. He knew Claudia only from drinking in the pub.
“It was awful,” said King, a former barmaid at the Nags Head who was interviewed by police. “I knew it wasn’t true. I told them it was impossible but they kept saying they had evidence.”

Hope you're recovering well @Angleterre and that this **** sees most if not all of his sentence. Well done on catching him
It’s a lifelong problem now but I’m a positive person and believe that everything happens for a reason and is meant to be and no matter how bad the situation, eventually some good will come from it !
He served his full sentence because he refused to admit his guilt. He’s out now but that poor family is fractured forever . It’s his mum who I felt the most for because it was her mum that was the victim but her son that was the perpetrator and she was disowned by the rest of the family because she refused to cut him from her life ( albeit she didn’t have anything to do with him for a long long time).
Thank you for your kind words

Yes I picked that up Angleterre, thanks. For the record, I'm a female. And I originate from DS Galloway's neck of the woods but have visited beautiful York many times, once attended a summer school at the university (staying in Goodricke College and dining in CL's workplace, the Roger Kirk Centre) and a member of my family was a student there at the time of CLs disappearance and had her room searched in March 2009 while she was at home on the Easter break. So I was naturally gripped and very concerned by the case and have tracked its progress over the past 10 years.

You asked about a possible reason for the prompt police reaction:

In addition to the previously mentioned L_ucy P_ope/CL connection, a very serious assault was carried out on a young woman in York in Feb 2009 by a violent & dangerous man who was subsequently jailed for life. Perhaps the police suspected his involvement?
Coincidentally, his partner was a teaching and research fellow at York University.
Life behind bars for violent York rapist and kidnapper
CL /
LP connection? You mean regarding then schooling together?

Yep, my theory too...the police have already interviewed the killer...and they know it...it’s proving it that is not possible
Ok then - surmising that you and cover me Cagney are right, where do you think the main locations are for the possibility of her being buried?

Re the first part of your message- it’s not beyond the realms of possibility, I believe...
I think that kind of lifestyle is more widespread and available than is first thought .
Secondly, I agree hence why I asked the question about escort work - even if parents did help to secure her mortgage and subsequent home, it was still £180.000 which in 2009 was quite a lot for a first time buyer on a single salary and I don’t believe her salary would have been that great as I had a friend who was a chef at a university and his salary was pitiful .

Can anybody tell me where the information came from regarding the mattress and sheet being removed from the NH the day after CL disappeared? And if so have any theories as to why ( other than the lock in orgy )?

One of the building sites that one of the men worked at, most likely. For years locals have said "under the university" but I don't know if there's a direct link between those arrested and the uni expansion at the time.

Unless a DNA match turns up for the cig butt in Claudia's car, or someone caves and snitches, or gets old/ill and blurts it out, I don't know if it'll ever be solved. Would love to know what the police have on it but I bet they're stewing that they can't proceed.

Re the cigarette butt
Do we know what type it Is? And do we know who amongst the suspects is a left handed smoker?
I m surprised that DNA screening hasn’t been done
Do we know if DNA was taken from those arrested? Actually cancel that - it must have been because they were subject to interviews with a view to being charged until the CPS said that it did not meet the threshold. But generally a buccal swan and fingerprints are taken at the same time, when arrested . So they must have run the DNA of the 4 arrested and compared it to the cigarette butt ...

As far as I know the cig butt didn't match any of the arrestees, there was a review a couple of years ago where they tried getting a match through familial DNA sites, but drew a blank. I suspect it belongs to the secret boyfriend who has never come forward (probably married). Don't know the type, and don't know who smokes out of that lot.

I will say though, I smoked when I was at university and always with my left hand as I was generally writing with my right. So left handed smoker doesn't necessarily mean left handed person.

Thank you for that .
How many men were in CL life approx at the time of her disappearance? Can anybody name them all if a suspect or st least initials and where they fit in?
