One of the building sites that one of the men worked at, most likely. For years locals have said "under the university" but I don't know if there's a direct link between those arrested and the uni expansion at the time.

Unless a DNA match turns up for the cig butt in Claudia's car, or someone caves and snitches, or gets old/ill and blurts it out, I don't know if it'll ever be solved. Would love to know what the police have on it but I bet they're stewing that they can't proceed.
Scenery change and building work-What a difference a few years makes

I've often wondered whether these 'lock ins' at the nags as they were euphemistically known were really some sort of cover for swinging or some other sexual activities using the upstairs spaces and that money on occasion did change hands for certain services?

I'm not sure how much a chef at a northern university gets paid, but I can't imagine it was a massive salary - did she have a genuine need for additional funds to supplement her lifestyle?
I’ve been following this case and probably read all that is in the public domain and never heard anything on them lines .

Thank you for that .
How many men were in CL life approx at the time of her disappearance? Can anybody name them all if a suspect or st least initials and where they fit in?
Majorlang mentions most of them with pictures too
But really because she lived close bye and went to NH often she would have made friends with many there !

As far as I know the cig butt didn't match any of the arrestees, there was a review a couple of years ago where they tried getting a match through familial DNA sites, but drew a blank. I suspect it belongs to the secret boyfriend who has never come forward (probably married). Don't know the type, and don't know who smokes out of that lot.

I will say though, I smoked when I was at university and always with my left hand as I was generally writing with my right. So left handed smoker doesn't necessarily mean left handed person.
Embassy cig with prints on it

Re the cigarette butt
Do we know what type it Is? And do we know who amongst the suspects is a left handed smoker?
I m surprised that DNA screening hasn’t been done
Do we know if DNA was taken from those arrested? Actually cancel that - it must have been because they were subject to interviews with a view to being charged until the CPS said that it did not meet the threshold. But generally a buccal swan and fingerprints are taken at the same time, when arrested . So they must have run the DNA of the 4 arrested and compared it to the cigarette butt ...
Be patient !

The cigarette brand was embassy regal and George Foreman the barman was alleged to have smoked that brand. I'm not sure about the left handed bit.
The butt in the car was smoked by someone using their left hand. Claudia was reported to detest cigarette smoke and so if someone smoked on the passenger side, they may have used their left hand and blown smoke out of an open window out of respect.

Aparantly she was not dating any known person at time of disappearance
It was however reported a year after her disappearance by a work colleague that he forgot to tell Galloway when interviewed at time of her mentioning a New boyfriend who she had been out with all night until 4 am on 18th March.
We don't know who they are and they haven't come forward as far as we know
Galloway was very annoyed about this late report
It is possible that the colleague was doing it a year later knowing that she was unlikely to turn up and challenge his story

As far as I know, George Foreman has never been arrested. But as he attended Claudia's house with her dad to check where she was.-Question for @Angleterre would he and dad been DNA and FP taken so as to "eliminate" them?

It was reported that she returned home at 4 am on morning of 18th and went to work.

There were many who said that if this was the case would she go out again on night of 18th or just get some sleep.
I think that this would-without being too personal, depend on her sexual appetite.

They certainly would have had elimination fingerprints taken but DNA wouldn’t be a par for the course unless something was found that required it and even then it would be totally voluntary

So George Foremans DNA may not be in the system then unless he has ever been arrested and charged with a crime
But surely he would have said if he ever smoked in her car and it’s possibly something innocuous like she’s given him a life somewhere so it may not be that big of a deal as we think and the investigation team may already know this

You won’t necessarily unless you are involved in this type of lifestyle as it tends to be an underground type of activity from my experience ( in attendance of such as an undercover officer)

Does this colleague have any reason to lie ?
She might have said things in confidence and “...I’m sure she’ll turn soon ....”
Even her mother kept saying things like .”I believe Claudia was still alive “
I asked this question before :why did the police search her mother’s garden ?

Who knows if he had reason to lie but considering how huge this enquiry quickly became then I find it hard to believe that he merely forgets about a new boyfriend on the scene who she was with until the early hours???
He would have known how important thus was because of all the press coverage yet he waits a year ?
