Does anyone know if police will have obtained DNA from the arrested men? Do they have the right to refuse to provide a sample?

Yes @Popejohn3 as @Yozzer says. I do not believe that this sighting has any relevance to this case. It was a red herring plant by Perps to distract. In my blog I have discounted this as any evidence provided by someone who will not identify themselves is not credible
With respect if I send info through crimestoppers without leaving my name I would expect the police to take it seriously.
It could have been from more than one source .
Since no one came forward it was probably cl and her assailant or assailant and his woman .

Ha

@FromGermany Ja wir sollten nur die Fakten angered:):D
:rolleyes::confused:
"Better an innocent one than nobody at all!" - You should arrest any left handed smoker, when he is passing your window, please, whether innocent or not.
Google translator isn't always a friend to me, sorry. :)

We and Police have all been working to a date that suggest Claudia dissapeared between her call to Mum at 20:30 on 18th and her not turning up for work at 06:00 on 19th.

Of course, what we do not know is that Claudia may have been ill on 19th and stayed off work. They didn't call her until 10:00 and of course her phone was turned off at 12:00 on 19th.

But, what about this sighting from Tommy her neighbour on the evening of 19th Thursday. Could this have been when she was in the Pub and waiting for Suzy to turn up?:

Eighty-one year old Thomas (Tommy) Ward knew Claudia by sight.
“I know she knocked about with some girls — was it Thursday night (This would be 19th) they had drinks at the pub?” (
Of course it could have been 18th)
Mr Ward said he had once witnessed someone bundle Claudia into their car, seemingly by force — and had reported what he had seen to police.

Was this reporting that evening then linked to her Fathers “Missing” report on 20th that stimulated such an unusual “Call to action” by the Police?

The Tommy Ward interview took place in 2015 when the big screen was put up in Heworth Place. I took it to mean 'on Thursday nights', meaning regularly, bearing in mind it was probably said in a Yorkshire dialect. Would he say "was it Thursday night" - meaning Thurs 19th May, six years later?
Again, it is difficult to know when the 'bundling' sighting took place. Possibly he is protecting himself by being vague on the timescale and it did happen around the key period of her disappearance. From what I recall, there were instances of CL being worse for wear and sitting on pavements and at least one anonymous witness (who spoke to the newpapers) admitted to having to put her in a car to take her home.....but that would have had to be elsewhere wouldn't it..not Heworth Road. I always thought TWs sighting was played down (again was this to protect him?) as you would have to question a) who bundled her forcefully and b) where was she taken? Mr Ward had a prime position for a witness, as he lived next door to the pub so would have seen and heard a lot..

Are there any articles about drinkers at the Carlton Arms who knew Claudia?

On account of my love of cigarettes, I remember that GF used to smoke Embassies. On account of my hatred of hands, I'm not sure which hand he smoked with. Jen smoked when I knew her
Do you recall if Claudia or Suzy smoked?

It was an embassy cig they found in the car but obviously dna / prints do not match with anyone mentioned
