Good thinking.

Also, could be that she was telling him about her *late night* in a flirty kind of way.

I think it is v odd he only remembered one year on, if that is true.
Do we know for definite this colleague was from the kitchens at Roger Kirk?

Colleague of missing York chef Claudia Lawrence comes forward with fresh lead
Interesting that Police states they knew who the casual boyfriend was. So it must still stand if that is the case
So he is a MALE colleague. There's something very off about that story and Ray Galloway thinks so too.
“He is a person known to the investigation from the outset. It is information he has decided to impart today. I don’t criticise him but I would be a liar if I said I didn’t find it very frustrating.”
'Known to the investigation'
is an interesting phrase. Male colleagues would be under suspicion. Was it her boss who phoned the next day but not on the Friday?
'It is information he has decided to impart today.' - This suggests RG thinks he has deliberately sat on this information for a year.
Very suspicious behaviour unless he was covering up/protecting CLs alternative lifestyle to protect her dignity? Could it be Snell_ing who gained his info from giving her a lift on the Wed morning?

@Nikynoo Her mum stated in a press article that Claudia's car had been in for repair 3 weeks before she went missing.
Does it mean it broke down around her birthday? Did it break down ? Was it towed there by whom and from where? Were the rac or aa involved ?

Significant new lead in Claudia Lawrence inquiry
the comments below the article are interesting.

Wow! The comment regarding her being on the University Road, 19th March, would shed a whole new light, but without confirmation from the Police, I'm sure everyone believes that she has come to harm at or from home. Has anyone else come across any suggestions or information that CL was on the University Road on 19th March 2009?

this article, for me, raises some questions. - Colleague of missing York chef Claudia Lawrence comes forward with fresh lead

  • Police said a colleague ( who has been known to the investigation from the outset) came forward to tell them she had been out with a boyfriend until about 5am on Tuesday, March 17.
  • Officers also revealed for the first time that the 36-year-old was in a casual relationship with a man from York, rather than being entirely single.
  • Police believe it is unlikely that the casual boyfriend (who she had been seeing for several months), who is known to the police, is the man she was out with two days before she disappeared.
  • Casual boyfriend has long term partner and has not been eliminated from the enquiry (as at 18th March 2010).
  • no-one has come forward
  • what did Claudia do after speaking to her mother?
This statement would seem to indicate that they had information that supported/confirmed the late night out:
'“You would think that because she was getting up early for work she would have gone to bed early on the Wednesday, but she was on an early shift on the Tuesday too and we now know she didn’t go to bed early then."

The next statement raises a question for me:
“Her text traffic generally finished at nine or half past nine because she was going to bed and it did on that Wednesday night." What about the Tuesday night? Was this different? Did information from Claudias phone support that she went out late? Would the night out with the new boyfriend not be arranged by phone? If Claudia was a prolific phone/text user, she must have contacted the new boyfriend via her phone. The polcie must have his number, no?

  1. who is the New Boyfriend?
  2. who is the Casual Boyfriend, and has he now been eliminated from the enquiry?
  3. what data does the police have to support the late night out?
  4. who is the work colleague
  5. has either 1,2 and/or 4 been arrested?

Significant new lead in Claudia Lawrence inquiry

About the new lead from Claudias colleague a year after her disappearance
  • "If this happened a couple of days before she went missing then that is really significant, and I find it quite hard to believe that this colleague has waited until exactly a year after she's missing to tell the police about this conversation." - Suzy Cooper
  • "It's unbelievable... that someone who has previously been interviewed by the police has suddenly remembered that he had a conversation with Claudia the day before she disappeared." Peter Lawrence

About the New Boyfriend and late night out
  • Suzy Cooper said that she didn't know about the boyfriend that Miss Lawrence was out with until the early hours of the morning, two days before she disappeared.
  • " I'm quite sceptical. I can't say it didn't happen, but from what I know about Claudia it is highly unlikely." - Suzy Cooper
  • Suzy Cooper said she found it hard to believe that Claudia would have been out until nearly 5am on March 17, when her shift at the University's Roger Kirk Centre canteen began at 6am.
  • "...the fact that Claudia - who was always tired with her very physical job and with her early shifts and went to bed at 9.30 at night by the latest during the week - apparently said she was up until about 4.30 in the morning." Peter Lawrence
About the Casual Boyfriend
  • "I didn't know Claudia was seeing someone casually. I thought I knew everything about her, and then I found out that I didn't. - Suzy Cooper

no, it just says work colleague.

Strict definition = someone she works with closely on a daily basis.
Loose definition = someone who works at the Uni.

I think this highlights the biggest obstacle faced in most missing person cases... we all believe we know our best friend/daughter/lover etc, but ultimately people will only show us what they want/trust us to see. We may know s lot about someone, but not everything

Snipped by me for focus and BBM - did he give her a lift wednesday morning?

Weren't those puppy dog eyes AFTER the marriage and the affair were over.
Yes. I didn't think LH was linked to the DVD - oh well!

On the Crimewatch appeal (or was it Donal McIntyre?) they suggested it was her female work colleague in the kitchen.

We don't have that information. It would make sense as to why he was in the frame when added to his frequenting the Nag's Head.

thats where I was going with this. I got the impression that it was a mae colleague and my first thought was, why on earth did she tell him?
I guess Claudia may have mentioned a new boyfriend to stop someone pestering her about going on a date with a work mate.

That would make sense if it was an unappealing man. And surely she would try to avoid getting a lift from him?

This has just crossed my mind, so I'm just going to put this thought out there...
If SC truly believes she was that close to CL, in what circumstances would CL not say she was seeing someone or who that someone was? Is it possible that someone could be romantically connected to SC?

Or a close associate of SC.

definitely a he, unless Galloway was protecting the witness (which IMO is unlikely).Colleague of missing York chef Claudia Lawrence comes forward with fresh lead

“He had been reviewing how he could help the investigation on the first anniversary and he remembered this piece of information.

“He is a person known to the investigation from the outset. It is information he has decided to impart today. I don’t criticise him but I would be a liar if I said I didn’t find it very frustrating.”DS Galloway

Maybe she didn't see him as any danger, more a nuisance... Possibly the thought of getting to or from work sooner was the greater appeal
