The point im trying to make is that the important part of the witness siting was even if it wasnt Haliwell she asked the person for change to use the public phone box.

I just can't get excited about this so-called sighting. Isn't it likely her phone battery had died (very probable giving the extent of her phone use) and she desperately needed to phone her dad for a lift?

Quite possibly .. but its a witness siting and like so much of the missing finer details the police dont update the public on what they have investigated and dismissed. Its incredibly fustrating.
But personally I think theres a strong possibility she was placing ads to meet men both for a personal long term relationship and for a men with certain sexual preferences.

An ex barperson at the NH said she saw SC and JK being inapropriate with some of the men at the NH what were their names.

Ooh can you tell us more about the inappropriate behaviour - was it just flirting?

I quite agree Yozzer ..but dont you think if its what the witness says hes seen and heard then its down to police to take a statement and ask the relevent questions to ascertain the date, time, when, where, car type/colour, description of woman and her clothing.
As it stands its said there is a witness we know what he alledgedly saw and heard..but the police have never confirmed if they have spoken to him and either see the siting as valid or they have dismissed it and for what reasons..
So here we are again left hanging .. just like the tracer dogs report of her scent being traced to the rivers edge, no search on melrosegate bridge for any cigarette stubb, No tyre track imprints taken from the reported siting of the car on grass verge where couple seen arguing. No search of the back alley and rubbish bins at the time she went missing,
much has been said of keeping the pressure up on the people at the NH but honestly, who is keeping the pressure up on the police to keep this in the public eye by keeping them informed to date.

When police interviewed him in Cyprus he said his route took him past York but he didnt visit Claudia, he named people who confirmed this to police when spoken to. Hes a man of influence and I have no doubt he could probably call on any number of witnesses if he wanted too (any place any where anytime)
Was he the the man CL spent the night of the 16th with on route to scotland and did he arrange to return to see her the night of the 17th when on his route back to Cyprus

The book Gone was written by Neil Rrot but you can guarantee that Martin Dames will have proof read that before publication. I read that book and to me it felt like it was written to appease an element of the Lawrence family-Nothing controversial in the book. Neil had access to the Lawrence family, yet he hardly goes into her time in Malton, her friends there or her life before Heworth Road.

It could have been Peter Sutcliffe. As much chance you be honest. Police will have investigated. Did Joan not ask them to?

I wonder what vehicle he drove to Scotland in, was it a hire vehicle that he could hire in Cyprus and drop off in UK or did he drive to the UK in a vehicle that he sold/part exed to someone in the UK. Even if other people travelled to UK with him if youre going to be doing business in the buying of vans to sell in Cyprus you would want to maiximise the number of vans you take back to sell.
Also how did Claudia get to work on the morning of the 17th was she dropped off by him/someone at the college, DO said she looked rough after having had an all night session with someone so that walk to work would have been quite a hike.
Did the CCTV at the college cover the whole carpark and was it ever checked for a vehilce dropping her off ,or did anyone also arriving at the college see her being dropped off.

Re Oxer lapse in memory did it go something like this “ but I mentioned the fact she told me she was with a ‘boyfriend’”
“Hmm ... there is no record of you telling us this info previously “
If the interview was conducted like my own interview fhs... nothing was being recorded on paper nor on tape!!!
