Good evening
Just watched Machintry. One thing I learned was that her mother was in Derbyshire visiting Ali when Ali got the phone call from her father .
.Was Joan already there when she spoke to Claudia last?
Did Claudia have a key to her mother’s flat ?
Not in the programme but we learn that the police searched her mother’s flat ... I could never understand as to why ?

You could also be wrong!

Of course I could. Absolutely.

But to my mind, based on what we know (which of course is only a fraction of what the police will know and therefore imperfect), I feel it makes the most sense as someone looking in from the outside. I very much doubt it was an opportunistic act by a stranger, it all feels like something very well planned, including (sadly) the disposal of the remains.

I think it’s her mystery boyfriend but how did they communicate ?
Would her mobile network be able to provide All the numbers she ever called or received ?
Do the police have names for All these numbers ?

I watched the McIntyre thing, amazed that phone off at midnight comment made the cut.

Was alright, enjoyed Clive Driscoll's contributions.

One little nugget I heard was Joan Lawrence saying she was at her other daughters house when she was informed CL was missing on the Friday (she was wondering aloud why it took so long for her to be reported missing).

Think Ali Lawrence lives in Derbyshire. Did Joan Lawrence drive at the time? Wonder if she was thinking of popping round Claudia's as a surprise visit if she went afternoon on I presume Thursday (or perhaps she went Friday morning), I guess that's a regret inside of her.

Or she could've just got the train from York which would've made a visit pretty unlikely.

Edit: Sorry @Popejohn honestly didn't see your post above when I typed that out, not trying to steal your thunder! Just never seen that reported anywhere before watching the show so surprised me aswell.

Rodney the proclaimed medium-We all know that mediums get their information not by talking to the dead but the living. In Rodneys case this was his visits and research of Nags Head.
What did he mean when he said that "Claudia when a younger girl once walked in on something at home that no young person should be exposed to"?
Did this discovery contribute to both her parents marriage split and her death?
How did ( if true ) this info came out ?
Did Claudia tell , years later one of her boyfriends or close friend .

No need to apologise... I find the whole family very cagey in what they say .
Joan was planning to see her younger daughter on Mothering Sunday two days later ps Ali is married and is not Lawrence just to be clear .

Not sure her phone was switched off at midnight ...people seem to get confused when it was reported it was switched off at 12;12 pm they think it’s midnight!
It was never reported if Claudia used her phone as an alarm for work !

Hello all,
I’m new here but not to this case. I remember the day it was on the news and I have taken an interest in it on and off over the years due to the mystery surrounding it. I’ve watched countless documentaries on the case, including the one on CBS last night, and it was after that finished that I decided to do some googling and stumbled upon this thread.
Now, I have read a lot of the posts on here and Reddit and have found out new info but wasn’t able to read all of them (8 threads, with between 50-70 posts is a bit much to catch up on!).

There’s 2 things specifically I was looking to get an update on.

1) Did they ever trace the person who was placing the wreath on Claudia’s door on Xmas Eve? Does anyone here have any suspicions on who that may be?

2) Did they ever trace the man captured on the bus CCTV who apparently bore a resemblance to the man seen arguing with (possibly) Claudia in the early hours? The image of that person was far too clear for nobody to have recognised him.

Any info regarding those 2 things would be much appreciated. In the meantime I am going to purchase ‘Gone’ as I’ve never read that.

Thank you for your info! :)
It's getting more and more mysterious .... if only by learning of these things no sooner than in 2020. My goodness.
Where is the right starting point ever? Liaisons? Family? Cars? Old friends? New friends? NH's? Acomb area? Killer CH? Rapist MFT (MT)? UK? Cuba? Cyprus? Greece? Men? Women? Couples? Smuggling? Drugs? DVDs?:rolleyes::confused:

It was Rodney Ballard who put on wreaths on her door for three consecutive Xmases !
Also known as Yessha !He passed away some time ago .
Yes I believe the man on the bus was identified!

Hi @Deadbeat
1. It was believed that Rodney the "medium" was the person who laid the wreath. He wasn't really a medium but if you read up on him you will find that he probably gained his info by talking to the living in the Nags Head and then played it back as if he had "spoken" with Claudias spirit.
2. The man on the bus-He boarded a bus to Leeds. You may wish to do some research here.
Did the bus take the route along Melrosegate to where the couple were seen on Melrosegate bridge-That couple were not described as arguing.
The couple described as arguing were seen outside a Maroon car with one door flung open on University road, nearer to her work place.
Also if you look at the bus cctv timeclock, there are two times for the same bus and driver showing this guy boarding.
5:19 and 5:39. Why do police show footage twenty minutes apart???

There is much about the cctv footage in this case that police have not been consistent with and that includes how they blur the image of cctv of alleyman and could have provided clearer footage but show sharp footage on the bus cctv and then of a person in Tang Hall coop??
To be honest, the guy arguing with Claudia could be anyone and has been said could be female with a hoody.

By all means read the Book gone by Neil Root. It took my 4 hours and in my opinion is written by someone and edited by Martin Dales who is Peter Lawrence's PR person and very very close friend and a Freemason.

Neil Root skirts around anything controversial and so isn't great in facts.
My view is that NO ONE should be considered innocent and so whilst it is a pain, you would be far better in lockdown taking a couple of days to read every post in these threads.
I did this when I started a year ago. It saves me asking questions that have already been answered.
What you do have to look out for is the element of distraction that creeps in sometimes that is deliberate. As is I believe some of the cctv footage in circulation.

What you may wish to consider is that it is feasible that there has been a cover up. Claudia went missing most likely because of something she knew and it all appears to have started to slide down hill in the last reported evening that Claudia was in the Nags Head the weekend before and was drunk.
Did she spill the beans then about something big.

Did she have a recollection regarding something in her childhood that she walked into at her family home "That no child should have to experience" and did she tell someone about this after many years of silence.
Why was her parents marriage split so bad that they wouldn't even appear at an appeal together and why do Claudias very recent friends never cry when they appear in TV but display crocodile tears. Why are her friends so keen to appear in the limelight and in particular why does one of them always tantalise and tease as if she knows what happened?

The big concern I have is about the time no one reported her absent. Apart from a normal "where are you call" from her employer at 10 am 4 hours after her shift start. No one reported her missing until the morning of 20th-Nearly 40 hours of no texts or calls from Claudia the prolific texter??,
All in my opinion.

Good luck.

Although this is good lateral thinking, I don't believe CL would have used her mother's flat. Firstly because she respected her parents - and her mother, in particular, is very religious. Secondly because we know CL compartmentalised her life and wouldn't have involved her mother in this way. There was rumoured to be a flat above The Acomb though....and of course, the Nag's always had spare rooms.

Would Peter be a Freemason too ?
Re time it took for her to be reported missing:
we know both parents spoke to her last being around 8:30 pm the evening before. She said she was going to bed because she had an early shift .
So no one that knew her was likely to try contacting her till AFTER 2:30 pm next day !
Work rings her at 10 am. No answer and if busy they would try getting someone else instead .We shall have to have a word with Claudia next time she comes in .She booked Friday off anyway.
Her close friend ... who is clearly heartbroken...miss not meeting her at NH after work ! But she’s ( Claudia ) done it before .
Now her father is going to meet her on Friday at NH I believe and I am going to see her at the pub.
This also means she is not really bothered ( about what happened few days before )and NOT avoiding the pub .
Now her mother is probably travelling to Derbyshire because she was at her older daughter’s place when the call came in .
Good chance Joan did not have a mobile phone of her own !
The next day her good friend Suzy Cooper rings the alarm bell !
Yes it was unfortunate time delay but no one’s fault nor deliberate .
Yes it was lucky turn of events for the perpetrator! IMO

good logical thinking as usual !
But why did the police search her mother’s flat ?

Police routine - family are always the first suspects.

I believe she had the previous Friday off and also booked Friday 20 th off too . I think one of her friends said so in an interview.

I might be confused but if Claudia texted her friend on Sunday 15th March and said that she was working 12 straight early shifts in a row, and her social life would be on hold for a bit, this would rule out being off on Friday 20th March.

I believe that text was sent on the 18th (in fact she referred to it in 2 texts that evening, one to JK and the other Liz, her Malton friend) but no-one seems to know when the shift pattern would have started so it is difficult to speculate.

Hi and welcome @Deadbeat
In addition to advice offered, I would recommend you read this piece (if you haven't already):
Whenever particularly sozzled, Claudia Lawrence liked to play the same Elton John track, Your Song…
Not only is it written by someone who worked in the Nag's Head and knew CL and some of the main protagonists/associates/friends in this case; it is really well written and makes a change from reading newspaper articles.[/QUOTE]
