The headlines I would like to see and pray for :
Closure for CL family
Funeral to take place at the Church .
The judge, when passing sentence, is expected to bear in mind the cooperation and remorse shown by the accused !
Remorse after 11 years would be hollow remorse surely, whether kidnap, murder or tragic accident.

Cooperation, would that be the 11 years of lies and the 11 years of torment for Claudia's family and
Okay @Andyboy
You’re in charge of the investigation: How would you bring it to a satisfactory end ?

another possible scenario....2 people babysitting claudia...tense situation...claudia won't shut up...tempers snap

how can the police be so sure that what happened happened immediately after phoning her mother...they must have something

The police are not sure of anything .

@Popejohn3 : Would you like to see these headlines if Claudia was your daughter, sister or best childhood friend?

12 days on the trot, earlies. No fun for me. Ok we know that Friday was booked off or was off like the prior Friday ,could have changed? Early shift until late afternoon so what’s the late shift? Does uni have one in canteen? No fun for me or if posted by another, no more fun for you.
I was previously unclear about the Friday off arrangement but this article seems to clear it up, suggesting she was *due* to be off:

Friend Suzy Cooper said: "She had Friday off work and I was looking forward to a couple of drinks with her. I got to the pub at nine but there was no sign of her. I sent five texts saying "where are you?' with no reply. I wasn't unduly worried because sometimes she would fall asleep after a long day.But on Friday morning I called her and her phone was still switched off. By now I had a very bad gut feeling. In her texts earlier on Wednesday, she was her usual bubbly self. I'm worried sick."
Fears grow for missing chef as police search nearby fields

I’d put Yozzer, Andyboy and Major in charge of the investigation. They’d rattle a few cages IMO.

Explain please .Do you find them insulting ?
Insensitive ?
I don’t get it ... explain please ?!
Obviously a headline saying cl has turned up safe and sound would be the most desirable .
Is this what you’re missing from my post ?

I very much agree with your last sentence. I think the judge should bear in mind the ZERO cooperation and ZERO remorse shown by the accused. Hopefully that will apply to everyone else, under joint enterprise, and he hands out the maximum sentence allowed.

Well as the police seem to have got nowhere thus far, I would as I stated before offer money, the largest reward ever if necessary, will see then if greed trumps loyalty or fear, I would also say if you were involved in Claudia's death, albeit not directly responsible for her death but maybe involved in disposal, cover up or fake alibi, I would offer them immunity from prosecution if they gave information which led to the killers prosecution

No, University canteens shut after lunch. That’s the norm anyway. Vending machines are usually there if the room is open.
Her social life would be curtailed because she needed to get some sleep in with the early starts.
This text bugs me.

Ref to my last sentence... I prefer cheese to the stick in order to catch a mouse

But what about the all nighter ?

I would certainly go along with that .

Happy to explain. Who are you referring to @Popejohn3 when you say ‘them’? I was referring to the perps, whoever they are (known or unknown people). Do you mean those suspected by Major? In that case, it sounds like you too believe they’re guilty, but they deserve mercy if they come clean and express remorse. Sorry if that’s not what you meant, but that’s how it comes across to me.

P.S. Andyboy has replied and his suggestion makes perfect sense. I think they call it plea bargain in the US but I don’t know if it’s allowed by English law.

@Candytuft I don’t know about the specific canteen where CL worked but some canteens on UoY campus definitely offered evening meals in term time (and still do). I’m sure of this because I ate in Vanbrugh college canteen a few times after 5pm in 2008-10. Saying that, I agree that most shifts will have been early(ish) ones. But when/if she said 10 early shifts in a row, that could have meant ‘excluding weekends’.

I remember watching PL on a programme and he was talking about the £10.000 reward that was put up.
I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. That money is small change among the types CL mixed with. Peanuts.
If anyone knows their types, they care not one jot about the likes of Claudia. Ok for a laugh and a bonk. But that’s it. Not friends at all. Neither were the women. Because it’s true that she was a minx, especially if they were married. I think she was incredibly naive. What she was doing was incredibly dangerous. I was told that PL was there when there was a lot of bantering going on. Jiggling her, joking about in an off colour way.
While her father was there ! Appalling behaviour from those men.
If she wanted to object, her reputation would have made it worse. She wasn’t respected.
“She was a knob, but she was our knob “. What a thing to say. No warmth there. Horrible turn of phrase about someone you are supposed to love.
Time to make a cup of coffee. Phew.
