Yes, the question of accommodation being above the shops has been raised loads of times and always had a resounding "no".

Another blurred truth in this saga! Yes we were told there was a rehabilitation unit "Nearby" and "Just storage above the shops" but he actually headed right towards the door area of the rehabilitation unit - that's a bit more than just nearby.

Also if your local to the town as with most towns, you know where to get free parking. What is safe and such so that if you came back you were not going to get pounced on. IMO there is alot of foot traffic around there and a walkway towards the shopping centre and mcdees. This would be the last place to get smoochy/deal or get bundled in a car.

So if it was a vehicular exit, it would be a quick one then? That throws the phone ping timings out quite a bit.

In fact, I've seen wfgodot's version of the quick poll on other threads, let's try it.... see if you can place these options 1-8 (or as far as you can go) and please feel free to add other options.

__ Planned AWOL - Corrie is fine and being harboured by a friend/relative
__ Spontaneous AWOL - something happened that night and while he's fine he's opted out for a while
__ Suicide - fed up, bad night, Corrie decided he'd had enough, got past the CCTV and ..........
__ Random abduction - snatched or lured off the street by a random stranger
__ Terrorism - taken by extremists to be used for political propaganda
__ Hook up - Tinder/Grindr/other meet up, prearranged, went badly wrong
__ Accident/assault - Corrie killed accidentally, body taken, cover up
__ Natural accident / demise - he got past the CCTV and fell into a ditch/river/got lost in woods etc

Yes, the question of accommodation being above the shops has been raised loads of times and always had a resounding "no".

Not a response to Cagney's comment per se but just to reflect the inference.
Regardless of the rehab accommodation, I see no reason apart from the one I suggested earlier why Corrie buys two burgers with his meal, waits for nearly two hours nearby and jogs to the 'Horseshoe' at 0324 UNLESS he was meeting someone through a prearranged message that night. If it wasn't prearranged, surely he'd have missed his opportunity by getting 'ejected' from the club?
I genuinely can't see an ex drug user or alcoholic who's either on remand or on probation reoffending by lifting Corrie in a bin or mugging him on the drugg'ys doorstep for his phone and dumping that in the bin also. Or for that matter, (dare I say it?) owning a car and taking Corrie towards BM/M at (0400) in the morning. There's nothing in it for them. I would suggest that these people are basically on their knees and begging for help otherwise they wouldn't be in rehab accom. Makes no sense to me. I'm not even convinced that an early morning visit to solve his suggested alcohol/drug issues (if he had any) would be warranted. I'm still open for new ideas and thoughts though.

I'm sticking with a Grindr style hookup at the moment and Corrie travelling with his phone towards BM/M for now.

Yes but now there is recovering substance abuse (alcohol or drugs) where anonimity could mean even family may not know? Should be considered IMO.

its a difficult one but at the moment I'm thinking,
1__ Planned AWOL - Corrie is fine and being harboured by a friend/relative
_2_ Spontaneous AWOL - something happened that night and while he's fine he's opted out for a while
_7_ Suicide - fed up, bad night, Corrie decided he'd had enough, got past the CCTV and ..........

The CCTV coverage is a huge deal for me... if he could have got past it and got all the way up Short B / Cannon St then I think he'll be found in a field / pond / woods having had a fall or something.

Otherwise, he left in a vehicle. If that's the case I'm leaning towards hook up. And if that's the case I'm going for gay hook up I think. <modsnip>

I had a thunk last night as I seem to be fixated on a certain area of this case. A while back I posted some maps with timings that had been agreed by the majority of the group. However, that majority seem to have now fallen by the wayside and fresh eyes and members have joined the forum. These new members have given a valuable new insight into the ideas behind the phone timings and so they're open for review again.

A new member last night posted an image of the white slatted door which I looked at for at least a full minute (about two dozen posts back). Surprisingly after awhile, I noticed a car in the same photo. This got me thinking. If it took me several moments to notice the car....why couldn't Corrie do the same? His jog and then saunter towards the rear of the 'Horseshoe' suggests that surely?

Now for the phone timings...
I'm now giving great thought towards a Grindr contact in the local pubs or nightclub that night (see my earlier post for reasons).
What if diplomacy protocols meant that Corrie met the person in their car in the darkened rear of the 'Horseshoe' and sat in it for awhile (at least from 0324 onwards)? That car could have been parked there ALL evening even before Corrie and the lads even arrived in BSE. We know that parking in town was difficult otherwise Corrie would have parked in a normal parking bay and not a disabled bay. It would give Corrie, his phone and his 'guest' time to get aquatinted locally. Then a short time later, the bin lorry arrives (0405ish) and it's headlights temporarily disturb them both and carries out the emptying of the bins by the driver who is now by the side of the vehicle operating the lifting ram. They both get frustrated as the bin lorry starts its circular exiting manoeuvre and decide to leave themselves in the car towards BM/M getting stuck behind said lorry practically all the way to Mil.
The phone signal (by now approx 0420-0430) would be delayed from leaving the mast area footprint, no one would see them in the car as it would have steamed windows and so no witnesses, the CCTV camera wouldn't pick up the vehicle as its already parked there in the dark and has and has been all evening, the average speed of the phone and vehicle leaving would be lower because it's behind the bin lorry along the A1101 and it would meet the nearly all the requirements of our case?

Sorry if this sounds nitpicking, but parking in town at night is very easy; the only reason I can think for using that road is that it is quiet in a morning so allows for a later pick-up of a car than the usual time charges start. Night charges are only £1.

Similarly, Short Brackland isn't the easiest way into central Bury, Risbygate, St Andrews are more straightforward. SB is an option if you want to be discreet.

Question: why do you think the car wouldn't have been picked up on cctv leaving the area? The investigation of the 4 vehicles is based it being known they were in the horseshoe, so if they were leaving in the time frame of cctv viewed up to 4pm, surely the car would be picked up, whatever time it parks.

Don't worry Miss French, we all welcome constructive comments here no matter how far fetched. As long as they're relevant, appreciative and considered. :)
I'm not entirely sure that ANY vehicles would have been picked up on CCTV in the 'Horseshoe' that night. I'm no expert on the matter but some members seem to be. The Greenwoods camera appears to be programmed to track pedestrians (and not vehicles?). As I've said earlier, there seems to be quite a few different cars in that area apart from a red Seat, a silver Ford Focus and a white Beetle. Perhaps these cars belong to workers as the photos and video footage (not CCTV) appears to have been taken in daylight hours suggesting workers or residents? The others perhaps shoppers? Either way it looks like a busy vehicle area.
My thoughts were that if there's quite a bit of traffic parked up, then presumably it's known as a 'free parking area' but more importantly....an easy egress route out of BSE at night?

Given the outfit he was wearing I can't see how he could have walked any distance without being seen by other pedestrians or drivers. More of a question for me right now is the 3 other vehicles (bin lorry is the 4th)

Were they specifically in Short Brackland/horseshoe area or surrounding streets? The info about them has been extremely vague while other things have been shared in great detail (e.g. bin lorry/driver) and actually have the Police themselves even acknowledged the existence of these vehicles? I don't know how these vehicles can be "identified" yet no word about being ruled in or out and I wonder if the lack of detail is because the Police haven't shared the info (if any) with them?
