Thinking about the case last night and it occured to me that IS probably never even drove down to the cottage in Broadstairs.

If I remember rightly, he reported Helen as missing in the late afternoon of Friday April 15, after he, allegedly, returned from making a round trip to the cottage on that day. But, in reality, he didnt need to go there.

Also, from the local newspaper reports in Broadstairs, none of the neighbours they spoke with made any comment about him being there, looking for Helen and they surely would have mentioned this, being as a normal worried person would have checked with neighbours as well as searching the cottage..

Yes I agree. If he went there and couldn't find Helen, he could have raised the alarm with Broadstairs police, in case she'd had an accident while out with Boris there.

[h=3]Jurors to visit Helen Bailey's £1.5 million Royston home[/h]Jurors are told that they will be visiting the house of Helen Bailey this Friday, to see first hand. The prosecution tell the jury Helen Bailey’s house is worth more than £1.5million, while as a successful author, she was worth something approaching £4 million. She had another property in Broadstairs and that is of significance, the prosecution state. Helen Bailey lived at the house in Royston with Stewart, his two sons, and her dog Boris. Helen was devoted to Boris and hardly went anywhere without taking the dog with her.

Grief, it's worse than I thought. I was thinking a spur of the moment attack on the Monday, being as he was running out of time ( if it is true that Helen was thinking of leaving, which her new blog seemed to indicate ).

But slowly drugging her for weeks, is huge premeditation.

Holy crap! This is turning out to be worse than I had imagined!!!

 • #993
I was wondering if they would do a house visit. I do hope she left her share to her family and that his share of it is minimal.

[h=3]Couple 'were engaged' ... Stewart 'drugged her'[/h]Stewart has previously been described as a partner, but the court is hearing they were engaged - and planning a wedding together.
Mt Trimmer says: “In the weeks before the murder Helen Bailey was concerned that she was quite unnaturally very sleepy.
“The Crown’s case is that this defendant secretly administered to her a sleeping drug.
“The defendant had at about that time himself been prescribed, for his use that very same drug.”

[h=3]Helen 'stopped using phone'[/h]The court heard Helen used electronic communication all the time - but this suddenly stopped at around 11am on 11th of April last year.
Mr Trimmer added: “The Crown’s case is that by the early afternoon, the only other person in that house, Ian Stewart, had killed her, probably by suffocation whilst she was sedated by the drugs he had administered for some time.
“He moved her body to the garage where her body was dumped in the cesspit in the garage.”

Not sure he'll benefit from Helens estate at all now. It would be proceeds of crime wouldn't it?

Unless you mean if he had his own share of it?

[h=3]Pet dog Boris 'had to be killed'[/h]Helen’s body was found buried in the cesspit alongside that of her pet dog Boris.
Prosecutors say Boris “had to be killed” because she “went nowhere without that dog”.
Trimmer added: “If the world were to think Helen Bailey was missing, the dog too had to be missing.”

You're right, he cant benefit from a crime so even if she left her share of the house to him then he would not get it, it would go back into the Will and be divided amongst the other beneficiaries ..........
But, if he owns part of the house - dont know how they bought it, could have been a 50/50 purchase - then he still retains his share of the property.

[h=3]Prosecution say Stewart killed her, while she was sedated[/h]The court heard Helen used electronic communication all the time, but all this activity ceased at about 11am on Monday, 11 April 2016. The last outgoing communication from Helen was an email to a friend at 10.51am on 11 April, 2016.
Stuart Trimmer, prosecuting, added: “The crown’s case is that by early afternoon on April 11 the only other person in that house, Stewart, had killed Helen, probably by suffocation, whilst she was sedated by the drugs he had given her.
“He moved her body to the garage where her body was dumped in the cesspit in the garage. Her dog Boris, a pillow slip, a dog’s toy and two black bin bags were also put in the cesspit.”

This sounds like she was supporting him financially ?

Standing order from Helen to Stewart's account was changed on day the author is thought to have died

“The crown would invite the conclusion that Stewart murdered Helen between 10.51am and 2.30pm that same afternoon, on April 11, 2016.

“A standing order from Bailey to Stewart was modified that same afternoon, and changed to the defendant’s advantage - a standing order from £600 to £4000 - to transfer from Helen’s account to Stewart’s. Although an attempt has been made to clear computer history at the house, this small fragment of information was found.”

ETA the timing is interesting. I thought there were 3 witnesses who saw Helen, walking round the side road, at 2.45pm.
