I don't know how he can say this and still allege he thought she'd gone missing.

I suppose he could say - when confronted with the information that the police had found Helen - that it must be Joe and Nick, as these two men had some contact with Helen - or with him - and had come round the house that day ?
And clearly, Joe and Nick had intimate knowledge of the property and the access to the cess pit !

WIll be hugely interesting to hear his story on this

Will be interesting to see who he alleges these Joe and Nick characters were. Is he going to imply blackmail?

Always supicious for me when he failed to appear in press or TV appeals. Of course with the public all now so alert to body language, he was no doubt afraid of giving something away.

Yes, that and not making a joint appearance with her brother, I felt there was a problem already between him and her family.

Snap, just posted similar. Will be interesting to hear the story about them.
I too thought it odd when he wouldnt do any direct appeal, and actually said for press to keep away...but even more so, when they had the dog walk, which began on the heath, opposite his house, and he didnt even accompany the walkers, just turned up to say hello - to a few of them - and then went back home.

I wonder if his family is standing by him.

So, from what we know, so far, about the terms of the Will, it would seem that there are other beneficiaries.
Am basing that on the detail that Helen was worth some £4 million, plus the properties.
So if she only left £1.8 million to IS, the rest of the money must be entailed elsewhere.

This is good because it means the other beneficiaries will be able to inherit easily.
If everything had gone to IS, then I believe it would go to intestacy rules, which means her family would inherit, as the nearest living relatives, but it is a much longer drawn out process.

I wonder if his family is standing by him.

I wonder if all of this is a shock to them, or if they were told any of it in advance ?

I remember his parents, at the time of ISs arrest, making a short comment about things being twisted and not reported correctly and things not being as they appeared to be.

I had not expected this. The planning and organisation he must have made is chilling. Awful though the murder charge was I'd anticipated it arose from some sudden action.

This is evil, and all for money it seems. Absolutely dreadful, poor Helen.

Hope this is ok to post. Mods please remove if not.

This comes from ISs FB page, although it is not written by him, he took it from someone else.

The huge irony is the line I have bolded.

To let go isn't to forget, not to think about, or ignore.
It doesn't leave feelings of anger, jealousy, or regret.
Letting go isn't about winning or losing.
It's not about pride and it's not about how you appear,
and it's not obsessing or dwelling on the past.
Letting go isn't blocking memories or thinking sad thoughts, and it doesn't leave
emptiness, hurt, or sadness.
It's not about giving in or giving up.
Letting go isn't about loss and it's not about defeat.
To let go is to cherish the memories, but to overcome and move on.
It is having an open mind and confidence in the future.
Letting go is learning and experiencing and growing.
To let go is to be thankful for the experiences that made you laugh, made you cry, and made you grow.

It's about all that you have, all that you had, and all that you will soon gain

Letting go is having the courage to accept change, and the strength to keep moving.
Letting go is growing up. It is realizing that the heart can sometimes be the most potent remedy.

To let go is to open a door, and to clear a path and set yourself free.

I wonder about his first dead wife. Do you think her family are now looking at each other with doubt in their minds? Wonder if he gained from her death? Do you think this may come into HB trial?

Had Helen's body not been found, IS would have had to wait 7 years before being entitled to claim his inheritance. He obviously didn't expect it to be found so one must assume he was happy to wait that length of time.

I WASN'T so concerned at the time, that he didn't make an appeal publicly because we were led to believe he was going through some 'cancer treatment/scare' ? But, it certainly makes perfect sense now!

It's not clear from what I've skim read (meant to be doing housework and bathing 2 muddy dogs) - is he saying these 2 men killed and disposed of Helen without his knowledge or that they did it at his request?

He wouldn't be the first to hire someone to do the dirty work but, I'm guessing actually that it's bull shirt seeing as there's no co-defendants!

Meanwhile, collecting £4,000 per month by standing order from her bank account. Mind, I don't know how quickly her bank account would have dried up.

I missed that. I am only skimming. I suppose unless and until she was declared dead these payments would continue until the account was emptied. Why £4000? Did they have a mortgage commitment?

See post 1000 for explanation. Sorry don't know how to link.

Court resumes

The afternoon session has now got underway.
The court hears Helen was planning her forthcoming wedding to Stewart on the morning she disappeared.
She conducted searches on her iPad between 8.16am and 9.04am and was talking to friends about her wedding and wedding arrangements.
The last iPad search was made at 10.58am and 10.51am is the last confirmed contact with anybody from Helen Bailey.
Mr Trimmer said: “What happens thereafter is significant. A friend calls Helen at 12.13pm, but that call is not answered and goes to voicemail.
“By 3.18pm Helen Bailey’s phone was switched off, and has not connected to the network since.”

[h=3]Stewart told police Helen had 'needed space'[/h]On April 15 he contacted police to report Helen as a missing person.
He described a note she left, saying it read: “She needs space and time, gone to Broadstairs, Please don’t contact me.”
Stewart claimed he no longer had the note and may have taken it to the tip.

[h=3]Helen's iPad searches came to a halt at 10.58am on April 11[/h]Trial hears Helen Bailey was at the home address with Stewart on the morning of April 11. She conducted searches on her iPad between 8.16am and 9.04am. She was talking [to friends] about the wedding and wedding arrangements. She had searched for a venue for the wedding. Further searches were made between 9.10am and 9.30am. There are further iPad searches and then nothing from 10.58am, which is to be the last iPad search. 10.51am is the last confirmed contact with anybody from Helen Bailey.
Mr Trimmer said: “What happens thereafter is significant. A friend calls Helen at 12.13pm, but that call is not answered and goes to voicemail.
“By 3.18pm Helen Bailey’s phone was switched off, and has not connected to the network since.”

[h=3]Stewart told police Helen was upset after 'incident in her Jeep'[/h]On April 11, Stewart told police at an early stage that Helen had loaded his car with items of rubbish to be taken to the tip, including a soiled duvet cover and cardboard boxes.
He also said Helen had left the address sometime in the morning to buy milk but had an incident in her Jeep and had come home upset, saying she was never driving again.

14:27
[h=3]Sterwart told police he had found a note written by Helen[/h]Between 11.43am and 12.59pm, Stewart’s phone showed no activity. Stewart said when he came home later the same day, Helen and Boris were not at the house. He later claimed to have found a note, handwritten by Helen, saying that she needed some time and had gone to her property in Broadstairs.
When Stewart contacted Hertfordshire police on Friday April 15, 2016, he said his partner had been missing since Monday.
He said she left a note saying: “She needs space and time alone, going to Broadstairs. Please don’t contact me.”
There was no mention of when she might be back. Stewart said Helen had taken her dog. Police officers asked to see the note, but Stewart responded that he might have taken it to the dump in Royston.
He said that Helen was last seen on Monday afternoon at about 2.45pm and that he later returned to the address at 5.15pm.
He added that Helen had been anxious and worried, citing illness in the family and wedding-related stress.

[h=3]Stewart's behaviour 'unusual and strange'[/h]The prosecution state that during the first general search of the house in Royston, Stewart’s behaviour was “unusual and strange”. It appeared that Stewart was not expecting such an exhaustive search to be carried out.

Stewart’s initial account to police was that he was at home during the morning of April 11, 2016, when Helen left the address to buy some milk, leaving Boris behind. Local CCTV was examined carefully together with ANPR; there was no image of Helen Bailey, nor her vehicle, the prosecution claim.
The prosecution said Stewart’s account of her morning is “at odds” with Helen’s outgoing electronic activity that continued throughout the morning.
Stewart said the soiled duvet which he left at the dump had been soiled due to a bout of illness he suffered.

Helen's brother goes to Broadstairs

John Bailey, the brother of Helen Bailey, went to Broadstairs to look for Helen, the court was told. He rang the bell, looked through the letterbox and did not hear any dog barking. He went for a walk along the promenade but did not see her or Boris. He put a note through the door and spoke to neighbours, exchanging phone numbers.

14:38
Jury told 'text to Helen's phone was a cynical ploy'

Stewart told Helen’s brother that the cleaner of the Broadstairs house would check the house for Helen – before telling him the cleaner had done so and Helen wasn’t there.
Mr Trimmer added: “The defendant went to Broadstairs – and we say at this stage he had Helen Bailey’s phone.
“At 1.24pm, Stewart’s phone was pinging off a mast in Broadstairs. He sent a text to Helen’s friend saying there were no obvious signs Helen had been at the house.”
On April 16 at 12.10pm Stewart texts the phone of Helen Bailey, saying: “Please call someone.”
“That is an entirely cynical ploy, knowing that when the records are seen he knows he will be seen as trying to contact Helen Bailey.”

The same day, Helen’s iPhone came into contact with that wifi and connected with the network.
Mr Trimmer added: “He must, therefore, have been in possession of her phone at this time. That, the Crown say, is a very significant event when asking the question of who killed Helen Bailey and who disposed of her body.”

[h=3]Police search Royston home and discover a second septic tank[/h]Extensive searches were undertaken when Helen was first reported missing of the house in Royston and outbuildings, grounds and local dog walking areas. Police were unaware at this stage that the house was equipped with a second septic tank system. There is one that requires emptying at the rear of the garage. It was a hundred years old, bricked over and well located under the concrete floor of the garage. A police officer discovered a manhole in the garage on July 12, 2016. A white Jeep belonging to Helen had been parked over the manhole cover to the well and it had passed unnoticed during the first police search, the court was told.

[h=3]Helen's phone used five days after disappearance[/h]On April 16 Stewart visited the couple’s second home in Broadstairs, Kent.
That same day Helen’s iPhone connected to a wi-fi network at the property.
Prosecutors say this proves Stewart had her phone, even though he claims he did not
