OMG! What a photo. The feature of this mugshot for me that marks him as a criminal is the sneer, the contemptuous upper lip.

Here is a test to identify criminals from ordinary men. I scored 13/15 - I realised it was that lip I was looking at not the eyes that marked the criminals. Sometimes it's very subtle.

Had a text from my husband, "Got the b**tard. One from my daughter-"Guilty". So many people have felt involved in this case, beyond the core of affected families and friends.

My hubby texted saying "it was Nick and Joe!!". I think he may have the wrong end of the stick.

Beautiful words Dolly! Thank you. xx

I agree icemaiden - Dolly's words are comforting and uplifting - especially encapsulating Highgate and Helen's happiness there. I was transported there away from this sickening day when we are allowed to witness IS in action. Of course, we knew he was Guilty and honour the Jury and Police and Strimmer (and Judge Bright) for bringing him to a place of no return for his evil murder of Helen and Boris. But it is still, somehow, a dark day - a day we've all been waiting for and my initial response was YES, YES on hearing the verdict but now I feel so terribly sad all over again for the deception Helen endured whilst recovering from the loss of John Sinfield.
Thank you Dolly xx

Good job he wasn't on the jury then. x :happydance:

I haven't been able to find the words yet and still don't think I can. Others have already said everything I feel, especially DollyD, so eloquent as always.

I'm going to clean house, have a long shower, and process all my feelings of sadness and elation. Thank you to everyone for being with me on this journey. I know we all feel this deeply.

I echo this. I often say too much, now I can't find the words.

Five minutes of absolute euphoria, seeing the Jury get it all so right and in a good length of time
followed by the tears and sadness.

We have all walked this journey together and have today seen justice done.

As Helen herself said, it will all be alright in the end...

But sadly, whilst we will all go back to our daily lives, Helen and Boris will never return to theirs - so it won't be alright for them, in the way that we would all wish it to be.

If there is any place other than this one, I do hope Helen and Boris are at peace and happily enjoying themselves, with JS and Rufus.

When Helen's body was discovered last July, some three months after she had gone missing, we said we knew Helen would wish, like us, for justice to be done.
We wish to thank the Police and Crown Prosecution Service for their unswerving professionalism and support, and to those individuals who gave up their time to be members of the jury or to give evidence in court, as now the perpetrator of this crime has been brought to book.
We also wish to thank the many individuals for their support, some of whom have been grieving for their own personal loss - as their acts of kindness have been invaluable to us.
Our thoughts are very much with Ian's family.
Despite this victory for justice there can be no celebration. Our families have been devastated and nothing can ever bring Helen back to us, or truly right this wrong.
A long shadow of loss has been cast over the lives of so many who will always remember Helen with enduring love and affection.
At her memorial service, we asked attendees to write down what Helen's life had inspired them towards.
From over 160 affirmative responses, one person wrote: 'To help people when they needed a friend'.
With these words in mind, we now embark on rebuilding our lives and we respectfully request that we be allowed to do so in peace.
Thank you.

Thank you Tortoise for preserving this here. Such grace and truth from John Bailey (little Brother to Helen) in comparison to the evilness of the thief of her life and her darling Boris.

The jury must have come back in just as I switched off the laptop to go out! I heard the verdict on the news at 2pm as I was leaving my work meeting.

Dreadfully upset for Helen, her family and friends (and Boris), that she had to meet this monster especially under the circumstances of her grief.

Lots to say but must catch up on all posts first.

Clarity on the duvet at the skip:

It's not the boxes that the duvet is in. Here are the screenshots for the duvet. It's only a couple of frames long before the boxes, as presumably there wasn't much movement setting off the cameras here.

Then the boxes come after:

Apologies for the image sizes, but I've left them large for zooming purposes.

Thanks Loz, I missed that - makes more sense now...so I wonder what was in those boxes ?

Stone Bay, Broadstairs , Kent.

Where Helen had asked for her ashes to be deposited.

I don't have much more to say at the moment. Just sad.
As per October 2016 on the other board - "what a waste."

Going to catch up with the rest of the news reports.

Beautiful post Cottonweaver - thank you x

What hits you at the end is the downright seediness of it all. It's like looking at a stinking landfill site. The emptiness and purposelessness of the killer.

We've had many many laughs on this journey and Helen would have approved. Helen was truth, she was a bright flame, she breathed life and hope into the pain of grief. I hope everyone affected by her death can be aided in their grief journey by reading her book and her blog, she left behind such a gift to them.

She was the antithesis of the empty grey greedy widower.

Thank you all for posting such eloquent words that I could not have articulated.

I think they must have contained something. At our local refuse collection point we are asked to fold/cut down empty boxes to avoid wasted space in the containers.

May I add my three pennorth and my thanks to all of you. A combination of bereavement (in terrible circumstances) and the onset of the menopause which releases hormones that stifle reason and tell the body 'reproduce before it's too late' made Helen suspend rational judgement. And who hasn't snagged a wrong un? Helen's voice will always live on in her books. But to me Helen, Boris, Rufus and JS are 'all right now' as they have passed to the other side.

Yes indeed, did he say at some point that they were empty? I thought at the time, no because you would have had to fold them down.

I'd like to know what he did with her handbag, her purse and Boris's yellow 'go to' collar and lead. There's a cart load more stuff in the back of his car too. Maybe that was always there, he seems very slovenly.

Maybe they went the same way. Although at one point I thought he had probably taken it to Spain and dropped over the side of a boat or buried it.

Alyce you have worked diligently every day of this trial to bring cohesion into all matters of discussion. Kept us up to date on everything, despite being anxious whilst awaiting the Guilty verdict. You've always tried to stay calm whilst bringing emotional reactions back to facts. And I have admired you - and other Websleuths enormously. I don't know where I would have been without this 'tribe' (Helen's use of the word) - and thank you, Alyce and everyone for the love you show towards Justice for a person who can no longer speak for themselves .. or bark the truth sweet Boris.
I came to know of Helen through Dachshund groups and Literature. I didn't know of Websleuths and this has been my greatest eye-opener in how you 'operate' - always with respect to the vileness of murder, and to each other's postings. You have such a light touch between utmost respect and necessary humour - just as Helen would have wished it to be.
I just wish she could be here to read you all - how she would approve and love your words.

Yes we do the same. We have kerb side collection even for large boxes, but we have to break them down ready for collection.
Having another look at that video, it seems as though they are empty, from the way he is carrying them...so I guess my question should really have been what was in those boxes ?
