I will hold my hands up and say - whatever works for you is your business but I do not personally 'get' this kind of thing ... I just don't understand it and find it worrying that people will go to extremes where injury or death 'could' occur all in the name of sexual thrill ... will we hear whether Gordon was known to be into the seriously submissive stuff? As in Ched Evans case, it would be relevant wouldn't it?

bbm - my opinion, he was a police officer, I doubt that it would have been known if he was into that kind of stuff (if he was, possibly only his partner knew about it). He would have kept this a very well hidden secret.

Stefano Brizzi tells court he wanted to get Gordon Semple's body out of his flat because he wanted to 'get away with his death'

For Brizzi's and everyone's sake I hope his remorse is genuine.

He thought about calling an ambulance, he said, but did not do so because he thought Mr Semple may have a "condition" such as asthma.
Mr Brizzi said he checked Mr Semple's pocket for an inhaler but instead found his police badge.
"I was absolutely petrified," he said.
It was "possible" that the officer had died from a heart attack, rather than strangulation, pathologist Dr Ashley Fegan-Earl told the jury.
He said the "heart was not present to be examined" but PC Semple's weight and history of high cholesterol meant a heart attack could not be discounted.

So that pathologist would have been the defence witness.

Brizzi broke down in tears as he described tying PC Semple to the bed by his wrists and ankles using cuffs and black cords.

"I kept asking if he was sure, he kept saying "it's only a few seconds, it's okay."
Brizzi said he had been counting to 30 each time in his head before releasing the pressure on the lead.

When asked when he noticed he was unconscious, he said: "I didn't notice much because I couldn't see him, but when I stood up I did notice something had gone wrong because he wasn't breathing anymore."

When asked about the comments he made about satanism in his first police interview, he said: "I was high on drugs. I didn't know what I was saying."

I'm not buying it.

I think the jury has a difficult decision, but I'm more swayed by his comments saying satan told him to kill.

And if there's an accident you call an ambulance, not get your chopsticks and roasting tray out.

yes, rather than trying to get the jury not to convict him...

Yes I didn't mean public knowledge type know, I meant his long term partner and possible other partners, close friends etc

Yes, I can possibly just about comprehend a sex game gone too far AND I can understand finding his police badge and panicking but come on, chopsticks!?!?!?

Oh dear. He's gonna get away with it. Reasonable doubt regarding murder?

I believe parts of what he's claiming and then the other parts are hard to swallow (pardon the pun).

I've followed many cases here on WS and many that involved meth. I have to say, what people do while on meth boggles the mind. It's not an excuse by any means, but I can be convinced that the cannibalism and all the rest that went on after Gordon's death could be amplified by the use of crystal meth.

Again, just because you used it doesn't mean you're not culpable but it does make people do horrendous things that in their "right" mind they would never consider.

So I believe in the game and I think the game did get out of hand but that would be due to the drugs and that still makes Brizzi guilty as sin no matter what.

MOO

Yes difficult decision for the jury. The pathologist who said a heart attack was possible was very damaging for the prosecution imo.

I can't tell by the tweets, but if Brizzi comes across as genuinely sorry the jury might believe his overall testimony,

Stefano Brizzi said after PC Semple's death, he thought police were controlling Grindr and his alleged victim had been sent to check on him

If that is what he thought, even more reason to report an accidental death, because police would be monitoring him. I think it more likely that he discovered Gordon was a police officer and then killed him.
